- Months in the making, here is my build of Queensboro Plaza, and Long Island City in Minecraft. Aka, the neighborhood with no soul. Well visiting long island city, the subway station is certainly the most interesting thing. The station is a a stacked single island elevated platform. It is the only IRT to BMT shared platform in the entire New York City Subway system. In none rail fan terms, the 4 door train share platform with 3 car train. The station is also half above the Queensboro Bridge - Ed Koch Bridge exit ramps. The Astoria elevated tracks even take a bit of a climb onto the Queensboro Bridge ever so briefly, before diving into the tunnels, where it can reach top speeds in the 60s.
I love how there is multiple abandoned tracks around the station. Also, I don't remember anything about the BMT using the Queensboro Bridge, I think the IRT only did.
The history of the subway as as rich as the city itself.

To answer your question, the "offices" in the southend of the Manhattan platform are the tower for the trains to communicate with the dispatch as well as employee quarters
