I bought used 37 ton North Star, best deal I have seen in two years , running, $1,200. I have replaced the carburetor, gas tank, 3 of 4 engine mount bolts with grade 8 and self locking nuts. North Stars self locking nuts don’t hold up. I have 4 new 1/2” bolts for the cylinder bracket mount, I’ll have to upsize those probably from the 10 mm.
Eventually I will put the pusher on the cylinder end, and an adjustable height four way on the away end. There is a video where a guy made a sliding table and an extension, that is a sweet add on. I have been splitting 24” walnut, stringy like what it looked like you were, single blade. It’s a good and powerful splitter, just needs mods to be right

Thanks for the 4-way demo. Seems like a great speed up, but I dont like all the small pieces produced either. Have you had any trouble with the hydraulic control mount coming loose because its just mounted using its pipe/threads with locking nuts. Other videos say this is a problem.

Thanks for the 4 way review. This is good info. Im going to buy the Northstar 30 ton and Im trying to decided if I want the 4 way. I just cut/split for myself.
