  • Troybilt 27 ton logsplitter. Is this thing unstoppable?? I put the Troybilt splitter to the test in this video. I find the knotty and twisted maple in the pile and try to see if it can split it all. Stay to the end and see how it does.#firewood #logsplitter #uppermichigan #troybilt

i never found anything my 27T wouldn't split!!! i needed more production so i got a commercial splitter with a faster cycle time!! the troy-bilt is staying in the yard for those special occasions when needed! i see you're putting the new trailer to use!! i don't think i'll ever be trailer less again!! great vid mike!!

@@Lifeinthe906 keep it for a backup and to possibly split the ones that the new splitter won't do!! mine will never leave the yard unless being lent to family! it's paid for and doesn't cost a dime to keep!

I have two of these splitters. One is my main home where I split about two cords a year. This maching is probably 15 years old, it has the handle sideways instead of up. Never a problem and even though i only split a couple cords a years the splitter probably splits 5-6 a year as i use it to help others with splitting. the other one is at our home in the mountains and it also gets about 5 cords a year use. great machines.

Yes, they work well. I've done some modifications to this one to make it a bit more user friendly. Taller tires to improve the working height and the table for holding rounds. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

That's some gnarly ass maple! I just have to shank off whatever I can, then end up with a big knotty piece to use as a base log. Sometimes I can blast right through the knot, other times- uh, no. I Just use an axe, as I don't own a splitter. And not a fancy maul or Fiskars, either, just an old axe I found at a sidewalk sale. Has a good splitting profile, and someone had done a great job of putting a nice new 34" handle on it. A 4#er, I think. Best $30 I'd spent in a long while- thing's a beast!
Most of the maple I've gotten recently has been the stuff of dreams- you barely have to hit it, and it falls apart! Sugar AND soft maple. Today I found one piece that was nice and strait- and I had to hit it a bunch of times in the same spot to knock a slab off the outside. (Silver maple) The next few tries just bounced off. I left that hunk in the dump where I found it. Other chunks from the same tree were easy as butter.
Worth the work, though- soft maple is wonderful campfire wood!

The trick for the slow ones is just be happy that your not swinging anything heavy. Plus be efficient and make sure the wedge is splitting as much wood as possible. Two at a time helps. Lol
