The ACTIVE command can only be used on fixed MBR disks.

I used the command prompt and actually found that two of my disk partitions were not active one of them being my recovery drive🙄. I’m not sure how that came about but thank you so much you’re a blessing!!💯🙏❤️

Solution number 1 fixed my problem (after installing ubuntu version 20). I changed from uefi to legacy. Thanks!
If you install ubuntu then what happened to your data on hard disk?
Whenever I put the USB inside, the laptop doesnt start up at all and I also cannot enter the boot or startup menu. Edit: I figured out the issue, it was the USB. When I do the CM prompt stuff, there is no Partition, just DVD-ROM

Can someone help me after I went on the boot menu and selected usb hard drive-sanDisk cruzer blade it took me to this page and said no bootable device-insert boot disk and press any key even tho I did have a usb/boot disk in it’s called Sandisk
In the second option, when i typed active, a message promped to me that said:the selected disk is not a fixed MBR disk
The active command can only be used on fixed MBR disks

I Converted my Drive from GPT to MBR, tried using SSD on old old computer.
Could never find the Boot Mode: Legacy in my BIOS, so i figured the BIOS does not support GPT/UEFI.
So i fixed it by having my Boot setting as AHCI and converting my drive to "MBR for BIOS".
Now it reads my SSD.
No more: "No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key”

When u turn the computer on, at the same time start to press f10 continuously..
When u turn off computer and again turn on just press f12

so I did the second method and I've just been on a black screen for a little over an hour now after seeing the hp booting screen
so when I try the secure boot, nothing pops up in boot drives, but in legacy boot it does, but when I click the usb drive it says the insert boot disk and press any key

Anyone with windows 10 laptop use these steps
1. turn off laptop
2 remove battery from laptop in back of compartment
3. With battery out of compartment hold power button for 15 seconds
4. But battery back into compartment
5. Open computer with power button

For method 2, I got to list volume and I didn’t have a partition there. Only had a removable which was my USB? After I typed ‘list part’ it said there are no partitions on this disk to show’. Please help

By going to bios and enabling or disabling legacy support fix the problem. But problem happens again and again.

None of these steps worked. I am stuck in the can't auto repair loop. Ive tried everything....is there a way to just completely wipe windows off my laptop? BTW, systemreset -factoryreset doesn't work.

Thank you a lot! 🥺 Got through by the second one. Creating the recovery drive was very time consuming (took me about 5 hrs) but it was sure worth the wait! 😄 was afraid I'm gonna lose my laptop being in this quarantine period where I do lots of school stuff online.

it doesnt say strike key it says nothing other than no bootable device and when i try to open my pc and go to bios menu it wont work and goes to the no bootable device menu
What you click until it come out to bios system i dont understand give instruction by type
That bcdboot command saved me. Though i had to adapt it for it to work for me
Hello bro, I was installing windows 8 in macOS high sierra through bootcamp assistant, after installation the system was asking for a code number written on the back of the bootable device, when I went to check, by mistake the PC wire is disconnected from mac mini. After restarting the computer, the display is showing that "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key", now the keyboard is disconnected from computer and I have tried many attempts to connect with computer but still it is not connected, now I am stuck in this situation. I dont get any of the stuff showing up when i try you 2 and 3 option . I just get a long list showing no disk after diskpart
Sorry to hear that:/ If your hard drive doesn't show up in diskpart it could mean your hard drive is bad and that's why the computer doesn't see it there. You may want to consider installing a new hard and reinstalling the operating system. It's not as hard as you would think to do.

Hi, how do i remove a second user on the login screen eventhough it dosent appear under user accounts in windows. i am only user and as administrator. i somehow added another account a year ago when having trouble in log in passwords and now i have to select the correct user then type password at the login screen. 2 Tim;s appear at the login screen and only the right one i get in through using a password which i can remove later so the computer can boot right through without going through the login screen, but now it jams to that other user and type password.

S_ THE_ACE if ur drive is dead then this method cant help you all u gotta do now is replace either ur sata cable (if its the prob with that) or u may replace ur hard disk

Sorry to hear that:/ Have you tried reinstalling the operating system? If the operating system gets too corrupt then the computer can no longer boot into Windows and will often times get stuck even with a recovery USB.
