Attention, this video is not made for children, nor is it intended for children. This video is intended for young adults and older adults who are interested in the model train hobby. Model trains are fragile and expensive therefore, they are NOT toys..
    Good evening everyone!
This evening I have received my new Lima Expert line DB Inter City Express 1 base set, and I have been looking forward to do a review on this set. I have received my TCS WOW steam decoder kit for the E6, so expect a DCC install video coming tomorrow night, or Friday. Anyways, this set is something curious that I found to be a great value for what you get. Similar to the Jouef TGV base sets of the higher-range line, you get a powered motor car and a dummy motor car, and two intermediate coaches. Usually, the intermediate are a first class coach and a second class coach respectively.
Both coaches have interior details, but that was not the primary focus of this review. The primary focus was on the powered motor car that has been equiped with DCC & Sound. The decoder is ESU Lok-sound 5, and while there really only 11 functions. The sound functions you get are rather good enough for what you get. Unfortunately, no crew radio talk like the sound file I downloaded for the my Electrotren Talgo 350, but I believe that is fine. The model is fairly well detailed, but may not be the most detailed on the market however, the reliability of these Hornby-Jouef/Electrotren/Rivarossi/Lima sets seem to be rather well thought out, and superb. There is a lot of spare parts out there, so I would not worry. The materials feel fairly solid, and I believe the plastic body shells are going to last. The gearbox gears are similar, if not the same, to the Jouef TGV models. I have not seen or heard any terrible things about them, so I am not really concerned about their longevity, but like always, parts should be available of you feel otherwise.
Unfortunately, the expansion packs to make a complete set have not arrived from the manufactures to the dealers yet, according to the retailer I got my European HST's from. They have been delayed until early 2023, which is kind of a shame unfortunately. I already have them pre-ordered, so you will see the full set in the future. I am hopeful to do a review on the coaches at some point. Also, I hope they use the same batch of paint from this run of the base sets. I do not want to have mix matched pigments honestly of that white. None other the less, a new pre-order for next year, and a fun set to look forward to!
I hope you all enjoy this review and make something out of it!
