How do you find projects for commercials and tv sync opportunities... every time I research it. It just feels like a myth more and more, lol. I'm not saying it is at all, but I definitely want to get in that world
It could feel cryptic in ways but I would basically do deep research on sync houses and music publishing companies. There are boutique companies that are looking for talented freelance producers they can throw projects your way once they know you are good/trust is developed. Find them on linkedin or Instagram and do a zoom meeting etc to build trust
This is also all dependent that your music is strong and works great for what they're looking for
thanks brother!
thanks for watching!
One quick tip to save some money at the beginning, is to learn how to cook! It seems silly but this made me survive the hardest time I have had whilst living in London! 😂
agreed thats what im doing sometimes
Hey Tyzo! One of the best videos i've seen on how to make money as a music producer! I came across this cause I'm looking for a mentor like yourself to help me make sure my music is ready to sending out reaching out and networking. Anyway, I don't know if it works in the States, but a really good side hustle I've found to support myself is something called matched betting. I know there are many side hustles out there and if you can find one as you work towards your music goals, it can make a big difference and take the pressure off. Anyway, if you can suggest a good mentor or ways you have found effective to upskill, that would be great! Like how did you know if and when you're music was good enough to start sending out. Also, what about production templates as a revenue stream?
Thanks for watching! Does matched betting work in the US? A good way to know if your music is ready is to be hyper critical on your work and compare it to music that is working right now. Be truthful to yourself to make sure arrangement, mix, and brief is on point! In the future, I would want to make production templates or sample packs but I feel like this isn't lucrative unless you have some sort of reputation whether you're an artist or music producer influencer.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Great video. Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub!

My man that drop at 1:25 was ear candy I need the song name immediately! the videos also extremely helpful BUT I NEED THE SONG
thats some unreleased tyzo :p
You need to drop that banger asap
Do you suggest mastering your beats before uploading and submitting them to artists and music catalogs?
yeah I do that for my demos for sure!
Hey! Just watched your video and music licensing sounds interesting to me. I can see you have ritual music included in your video, but could you recommend some platforms which work best for you? I am electronic music producer, can do not only commercial dance but also slower tracks and I'm looking for something appropriate for me :)
yeah! marmoset is the one I like to use and has made me a good chunk of change but I will say some quarters are unreliable and some are very fruitful. Another company would be musicbed. Hope this helps!
I wish you would mention how you get gigs on step 2, before music licensing hehe
haha a lot of it is through blindly emailing production houses with a reel ready to show. It's a grind but I was able to find production houses and search that company on linkedin and connect with them there
but what if you make the sound for an artist and in distorkid they remove your 10% or what you have?
if you have percentage in a song make sure its on a written agreement or at least in email. Whoever released the song through distrokid didn't add you to the percentages
What would you recommend for someone who works in genres that are a bit weirder like Ambient and IDM
for ambient music try to make a youtube channel with music that can "help people sleep mix" and try to get monetized/spotify streams. Create a new artist channel where you can make ambient music quickly. With weirder genres its harder to land syncs or commercials since it's not requested as much.
sync licensing does not cap out at 15k, my teacher was talking about it today someone he knows made more than that with a netflix deal. anyone can do this i havent yet but its not a popularity contest you just gotta get the right guy to vibe with it
yeah it can surpass $100k+ on some deals. leverage and the type of sync is key to get the higher pay outs
What websites do you use to receive the revenue and contact the artists and companies?
So I reach out to artists/managers via IG. At this point though make sure your IG looks awesome whether its showcasing beats songs etc. In regards to receiving royalties I use a PRO called ASCAP to collect revenue along with tunecore for my older released stuff.
the artist will more or less end up on Spotify.
OMG that’s awesome! Let’s connect?
