The Jewish religion does not recognize Jesus as the messiah otherwise they would be Christian. That will never happen, because Jesus has not (at least not yet) fulfilled the Jewish messianic prophesies. Gather exiles, rebuild the temple, usher in world peace, resurrect the dead etc.
I appreciate John suggesting that Ben read the Gospels, but I wish he would have also said to make a list from the OT on all of the requirements listed of what prophecies the Messiah must fulfill to match the OT prophets. It is like 300 of them. When they go down the list checking the boxes off of what Jesus did, maybe the light turn on for those of the elect. Kudos to Ben for having John back on, and kudos to John for shooting straight and to the point of the good news of Jesus, our Redeemer.
If Ben studied the sanctuary he would see that the lay out, the articles, the sacrifices and the feasts are all about Jesus, the Christian’s life and the history of God’s people (His church)
True, and the layout and progression through it reveals that partaking of the word of God on Sabbath is a part of the believer's walk with God (Lev 24:8,9) - right along with prayer (Rev 5:8) and being filled with the Holy Spirit (Lev 24:4). Also that God's law is the foundation of His throne...and many other things. It's a great subject worthy of deep study.
How does continuing to read the Gospels over and over in any way help you to determine if the claims made in them are true? Especially the supernatural things?

Ben Shapiro wanting to see a more Christian America shouldnt be surprising. Judaism isnt an aggressively evangelistic faith so from a pragmatic perspective if you want an ally it would be an evagelistic faith that is the least hostile towards Judaism in which case it would be Christianity (as opposed to say Islam or secular humanism). So Shapiro welcoming prominent evangelical Christians such as John MacArthur actually makes a lot of sense because Ben knows that MacArthur is actually preaching to his audience and not him. Considering that Ben Shapiro attracts a lot of non-religious conservatives, having a guy like MacArthur encouraging them to become Christian helps to bolster the support for Israel and Jews which is in Shapiro's interest. Ben is playing very very shrewd politics.
You get it 💯💯👏👏... very few ppl do. Ben will have some answering to do from him essentially USING Christians to forward his personal agenda. A touchy game he's playing here.
Valid points however religiously, as a Rabbinic Jew Ben is out of line, Rabbnic Judaism claims that Christianity is idol worship, technically they aren’t even supposed to enter churches and some super strict ones even spit at churches. So in reality yes Ben technically should be against Christianity and should largely promote the 7 Noahide laws for gentiles.
But they aren’t doing themselves any favours by daily wire saying that saying Christ is King is anti semetic and firing Canadance Owens because her saying that in one tweet unrelated to Jewish people to be a great offence to the Jewish people working at daily wire (Ben) like bro, pick a side! It seems he respects and likes MacArthur for obvious reasons, and if anyone is the right person to take the gospel to Shapiro, it is him. Shapiro was more open on the subject than I have ever seen him before. God is working on his heart.

I think the reason Ben had John back on is because of the Candace Williams fiasco. He lost some Christian fans from it and I think this interview was a way to try to bring the peace.

I think John's point, when he says he'd rather been born a Jew, is that we are graphted into the vine, we are born gentiles, but we are jews spiritually. Speaking as a Christian, of course. We have a Jewish messiah who practiced Jewish customs and traditions, and celebrated Jewish festivals. I would love to do all those things. Instead of celebrating a pagan Christian "holiday"

I am a Jew and I will also like to see a "more Christian America". You guys forget but Jews don't evangelize, we don't try to convert or convince anyone of anything, the only think we care about from a religious perspective is you keeping the 7 laws of Noah (which most Christians do). And I prefer people following a faith that's 100x better than secularism and has great values. Just please don't be antisemitic ;) We're not that bad, but I get why it's easy to hate us.

As a Roman Catholic I grew up loving the Jewish People. We learned so many beautiful things about them and on many important occasions the Pastor of the Cathedral where I lived would invite a Rabbi to speak. When the passing of John Paul the II, we had a Memorial Mass and A Rabbi was invited to preach after the Mass. He touched my heart with so much love and wisdom. When I watched the videos where Ben Shapiro called Jesus Christ a "troublemaker" I felt disappointed with the lack of respect in the way he versed things. I am glad he is trying to amend his relationship with Christians.
The absolute belief of John MacArthur about the Bible defending itself and it being like a Lion in the way that you don´t defend a Lion you just set it free! Gave me the chills. We need to be more convinced about the Scriptures being the word of God, the Sword that pierces every heart and is able to change our hearts if we seek the truth honestly. May this interview lead many to open themselves up to read the revelation of the Jewish Messiah and the Gentile´s Christ, the Lord Jesus!
MacArthur has a unique position of being a Calvinistic Dispensationalist. He understands God’s sovereignty and ability to set His love on a chosen people and His ability to bring about all the promises regarding the people, their land, and even a national repentance. Most Calvinist believe the church somehow inherited all the promises of Israel but there are too many specific promises made that have yet to be fulfilled in the 1st coming of the Messiah that will be fulfilled in the 2nd coming of the Messiah that apply to the nation of Israel and not just the church.

Hating Israel isn't Christian. But I suppose it's according to the Bible that everyone will hate Israel in the last days, including a lot of people that claim to be christians. And while it's true that Jesus is king, I'm not convinced Candace Owens said it in a well meaning way, sure I don't know her heart but it just seems she hates Ben Shapiro and she said it to make him mad. @@562mjohnson amen 100%. Catholicism is just a marriage of Christian appearances and traditions with the paganism of old Rome wanted to combine to keep the peace so to speak. It is of the devil and ecumenicism along with it. There needs to be a clear line about what the gospel is: Grace through faith apart from works, which Macarthur has also been an enemy of, even redefining "faith" and the gospel in "the Gospel According to Jesus" and other writings and sermons where he confuses totally the gift of salvation with the cost of discipleship. getting saved is free. eternal life is a gift. discipleship is a daily choice to walk with the Lord and is extremely costly. There also has to be a strong line about what is "christianity" Catholicism, Orthodox, are cults just like mormonism or JW. they are no different and intermingle human works with Jesus' finished works. how dare we mingle the sweat of men with the blood of Christ!

I think Ben has an affinity for John because he has a wonderful father figure personality. Some people say John is too stern in his preaching, but I don't agree. I think he's just very straight-forward and gospel-centered. He projects a love for people, and I think Ben feels this in these conversations.

I saw this dialog a long time ago.
I think John nailed it there even though I maybe personally disagree with him over several issues as well. One thing we also need to realize is that there is a Jewish person who may have tuned into this conversation and something got triggered to understand Christ more.
I think if we actually focus more on declaring the Gospel messages there would be massive impact in this dying world
I think Johnny Mac could've been more effective in citing Romans 11:17-24 where Paul says that the Gentiles are the "wild branch" that has been grafted into the olive tree and that we as Gentiles are supported by the root which is Abraham, Isaac & Jacob and the 12 tribes of Israel. Paul says that we as Gentiles need to NOT become proud or arrogant, otherwise we as Gentiles could be "cut off." So Johnny Mac needs to let Ben know that we as Gentiles are supported by the Jewish foundation of the faith. Also, in v. 25-26, Paul says that "all Israel will be saved." Last of all, I would've recommended that Ben read the Gospel of Matthew, directed at a Jewish audience.

Ben has traditionally been very good about having people of different views on his program, even Christians who are willing to challenge his core religious beliefs. That being said, I tend to believe he is having John Mac on again at this time because of his staunch support for Israel and his belief that Christians should support Israel. That is what is most important to Ben, and I dont see him having a pastor who is less supportive of the current nation state of “Israel” in his program.

If Ben does come to Christ you can be sure that it will be the still small voice of the Holy Spirit on the inside that will do the job. Yes and no to your statement. While he was a pagan before knowing God and not like the practicing jews under the mosaic law he is the one who fathered Israel, so in a sense he is one. Jews define themselves as being descended from Abraham and Paul used Abraham numerous times in his letters to show how faith in God is what makes us righteous, not our own deeds or lineage.

Even when God promised Abram in Genesis 12: 1-3 He was specifically referring to Israel being a great nation. The pharisees in John's gospel tried to argue against Jesus saying their physical seed was from Abraham and that their father is Abraham. @Ehhhhhsureeee Agreed. But like Ben said, more Americans need to come to God. If we say Jesus is God, that's pushing the religion if others don't believe it. If we just read the Gospels & not read the Tanach, much less teach the Torah or allow it in the church, that's pretty one-sided. Or are we afraid to read something different than we were taught? We all need God. However, we get to Him. I just ask for life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness getting there. No more anti-semitism just because I live in America.
