Awesome podcast.... It's pretty simple if you believe in Jesus Christ, and you believe that through his sacrifice and resurrection you are saved. Then you are proclaiming by faith. That you believe he lived, he died, and walked out of that tomb, took back the keys for death and the grave and he is God. The physical form of man and the third form of the Almighty. Plain and simple.

Thanks for having me on the show, Ruslan! It was a good time!
I briefly referenced the weight you feel in some of the old hymns...
Watching this back, here is one that just came to mind:
Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!
Love's redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids him rise, Alleluia!
    Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!
Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once he died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where's thy victory, boasting grave? Alleluia!
Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia!
    Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like him, like him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!
Hail the Lord of earth and heaven, Alleluia!
Praise to thee by both be given, Alleluia!
Thee we greet triumphant now, Alleluia!
    Hail the Resurrection, thou, Alleluia!
King of glory, soul of bliss, Alleluia!
    Everlasting life is this, Alleluia!
Thee to know, thy power to prove, Alleluia!
Thus to sing, and thus to love, Alleluia!

Therefore Alex speeded his talking up to make sure he got his full question in, when he knew Peterson wanted to jump in and obscure that question. If the answer was still obscure then Alex would return to that same question. Also Alex only allowed Peterson about 50% of the conversation unlike his usual 70%. This makes no sense. They are trying to discern his thoughts on the bodily resurrection. As they quoted in this video, if Christ is not risen then our faith is in vain. It’s incoherent to say you have faith in what Christ did for us but not believe in the bodily resurrection and that Jesus is God in the flesh who fulfilled the law for us. Believing in Him in a hypothetical sense as a mythical figure or archetype is not remotely the same thing nor is it “EXACTLY what it means to have faith”. You’re acting as if JP has said “I believe in the resurrection and that Christ has atoned for humanity’s sins but I cannot be 100% sure”. I think like Nicodemus, JP can see the Truth but actually totally acknowledging it with 100% clarity would change his life forever and is he ready for that? He is also so intellectual and as we know God confounds the 'wise' with simplicity! The gospel is so straightforward, you have to have the faith of a child to accept it. Those that seek the Truth will find it. JP is certainly seeking..... X And hopefully Alex will also look at the facts and acknowledge the Truth. Lord bless him too.

And that itself is really valuable to others who are doing the same. Trying to stumble their way into the truth that is Christ. Much of the world is doing the same and I believe his words help shine a light on them. Letting them know, even a man as knowledgeable and insightful on the Bible is still a human trying to figure out his way home with no specific directions.

Look from watching pints with Aquinas it is very clear he is on the path towards God. Just because the yes is not a simple yes does not mean anything when you look at his actions that are overall pro Christian. So what if he wrestles with the faith? Are we any better? Because I been catholic for almost 8 years and God always surprise me. He engages me he calls to me. And I’m still confused to why even though my mind knows why. My heart is still learning. So give the guy a breath.

" So what if he wrestles with the faith? Are we any better?"
There can't be a Christian that has ever walked the earth that has never had some doubts so you make a very good point.
However I do think "wrestling with God" is ambiguous enough to impart any meaning one cares to on it. Im not saying the following is true but maybe Peterson (being an extremely thoughtful person) is very comfortable in his own mind that his idea of god will never be the same as the Christian (Nicene Creed) idea of God. Not unless there is a broadening of what it means to be a Christian. I think it naive to think that Peterson is necessarily pro Christian simply because he talks scripture.
My response is slightly cinical but I don't consider that unfair when talking about Peterson after all in this podcast they said that Peterson could be turning some Christians agnostic.

peterson singlehandedly made me fundamentally question my atheist beliefs at the core. He is singlehandedly the reason I asked my mother for a bible. I didnt finish it. I honestly only started and am procrastinating on it. But every day that man walks the earth and talks about this subject, it reminds me to not forget about it. to make time for it. and to dont discard the thought no matter what else in life comes up
I wouldnt call myself a christian. But I am basically what your side wants to achieve. I am already talking about christianity and defending it in front of my atheistic gf, my atheistic friends and even put myself in a bad light for it. simply by teachings of jordan peterson for the most part.
That man knows how to defend christianity. So. Take it for whatever it is worth.
I would say though that this is not in the slightest insignificant change.
in my mind I now see atheists in a similar defensive position as christians. if not more.
that doesnt necessarily make me christian. but it takes away so much influence from atheists beliefs and that has also very clear political direct implications

@@johnwheeler3071 we can’t control people and direct them to what we want from them. Speaking from experience. All we can do is pray, sacrifice and be good and genuine and love our neighbor as Christ loves him. Because at the end of the day it is Christ alone who saves and keeps us alive. When you learn to let God be God. He will do the unimaginable. It’s ok to be cinical. But always look at the context. We don’t get to choose who enters the faith. But it’s easy to lose our way. So keep your gaze on God. For he is a good Father. Jordan is practically a baby in the faith. A baby has to learn to crawl before he can stand. To try and fail to walk. Before it can run.

I get the urge to understand Jordan Peterson's worldview, but I think the approach you guys have is off. Jordan is being very cautious because he doesn't want to slip into being a symbol for a specific denominations' worldview. Because if he does that, it cannot unify Christianity. You two are wanting him to fit within your definition or someone else's definition so that he is categorized. But that is what he's fighting against - the categorization shouldn't be paramount!! It's walking with Christ that should be paramount

I said it before and I'll say it again. Dr. Peterson is an extremely intelligent, reserved, defensive, baby Christian.
When Christ got me, I was still sceptical of some biblical truths. I didn't believe nor want Jesus to return. Thought it was nuts to even consider until God led me to the radiology wing of CHOP. Looking at a room full of lifeless children, I was crying begging for Christ to return. That was about 11 years ago. Not sceptical anymore.
Lets give Dr. Peterson some time and grace to build confidence in the hard things of the Bible because sometimes as seasoned Christians I think we forget when we first believed. It's amazing watching such a confident man being grafted by the Holy Spirit. It's something to start a new life. 👍🏻😁🙏🏻
