    That was such an informative video about GX animation! Great work mate!
    When I started watching GX I first had such a hard time because of the series tone, and the animation felt like a continuation of the downfall of DM on its last arc - which should have been the more epic one visually and yet... but then GX served such original characters like Tyranno Kenzan and Austin O'brien - who became some of my favourite of the franchise, still designed by Kaz himself, and the show found its own identity in such crazy fun drama.
    I love and always enjoy rewatching season 3 of GX, it's so creative and badass, with some great animation too. I dunno, it's such an underrated show in the anime sphere.
    Anyways, keep up the good work with your videos!

      I'm trying to gather like-minded Yu-Gi-Oh! fans to make a short live-action short films mixing actors with 2D animation in order to pitch to production company to make a bigger short film, to in time pitch a live-action tv series. It's a life-long goal to me as a YGO fan, filmmaker, and history buff.

    Speaking of Dong Woo, the South Korean animation studio also did the overseas on American TV cartoons such as the 2003 Ninja Turtles & the 2003 Teen Titans.

    Wait, so if Gallop didn´t animate GX yet followed Takahashi´s artwork when it came to creating characters, how come the new studio animating SEVENS didn´t decide to do the same, and is instead using a completely new style?

    • @Galaxyeyez
      @Galaxyeyez  3 года назад +10

      GX was just outsourced to Dong woo it's still by all means considered a Gallop production. Dong Woo was just helping. It's a totally different situation with SEVENS and studio Bridge. Also Takahashi hasn't been involved with the ygo anime since Zexal and DSOD. Arc-V used original designs by Naohito Miyoshi (Arc-V manga artist) and Vrains used anime original designs by Kenichi Hara.

    I wonder why the old animation directors such as takahiro kagami and kenichi hara of the old yugioh dm didn't come back to animate yugioh gx again

  • @RaxiumsYugiohAnimations

    I think GX's limited animation ended up to its benefit somewhat, both in that at the least it was consistently on model, whereas other series can have amazing animation followed by extremely off model episodes. It also imo strangely "grounded" the duels, as the "stiff" animation kinda had the feel of "this is probably how holographic duels would look like irl". Compare a GX duel to the VR Yugioh fan projects for instance. But sadly that also leads to very few memorable "hype" moments that can rival the other series' animation wise.

    Great video, already knew about this but it will be great for people that didn't know.
    Talking about GX is really hard for me, because I don't have much attachment to the series (since I don't like it. lol).
    The animation is alright enough for an anime made solely to promote a card game, but it was really sad to let go of such talents like Kazunori, Kagami and others. Also the story was bad enough to make me want to drown myself, and it was one of the reasons I stopped watching the Yu-Gi-Oh spin offs (alongside with 5Ds).

    • @Galaxyeyez
      @Galaxyeyez  3 года назад +3

      That's a shame as 5Ds really was good. But I get it GX did give off the feeling like it didn't know what kind of show it wanted to be and the more wacky episodes can turn people off.

      @@Galaxyeyez Wasn't even because of the goofy stuff. In the beginning, the story itself tried to be an goofier and more light-hearted version of Duel Monsters, but then, in the second season, it tried to be an edgier/for teenagers version, felt like they didn't know what they wanted to do and just begun making shit up as it went on, getting crazier and crazier as it went on (to the point where I was watching Judai and Johan dueling Death), while Takahashi had his story decided from the ground up, changing stuff along the way but with the ending in sight.
      5Ds was just too Edgy for me, it was trying to hard to be cool you know.

    I noticed an uptick in animation quality that happened around Season 3 and 4 - more fluid movement in general, character designs are more detailed, that sorta thing. Is there any particular cause to that, or am I just blowing smoke?

    • @Galaxyeyez
      @Galaxyeyez  2 года назад +1

      I imagine as the show went on the Jiwoo staff of course got more comfortable with the designs with a few new animators appearing every so often.
      As for the designs introducing characters from outside DA gave Takahashi a chance to go more ambitious with the designs not constrained by DA uniform.
      Sorry for taking so long been busy.
