Wasn't into skin care until I needed a job during university and found one with a skin care company, and then I kinda got obsessed. Some tips I've learned during my time: 1) At minimum, you should cleanse, moisturize, and use spf. 2) Men don't need to use men's skincare. It's honestly just marketing. Skin care is skin care - ingredients are more important than packaging and marketing. Keeping your skin clean and healthy isn't gonna damage your fragile masculinity (I saw this faaaar too often with girls bringing in their boyfriends to our store 😂) 3) Introduce products one at a time. If you just start all at once, and get a reaction for whatever reason, it's hard to know what caused it. 4) Your skin generally takes about a month or so to turn over, so try your products for about a month to start seeing results. And of course, consistency is key! Hope that's helpful to those starting their skin care journey!
Yessss I'm with Jen, Asian skincare products changed my life! All the American products were too strong for me! Jen to Phil: YOU DON'T FLOSS!? Taylor: That's another episode! Lolll
PERFECT TIMING! I have always just been using the cleanser and moisturizer my mom taught me to use. But I just started venturing into skincare and actually looking at ingredients and serums and all that stuff. COVID is the perfect time to experiment with skincare because no one will see you if you breakout from products
I also struggle with my skincare routine growing up, but my game changer was drinking lots and lots of water 💧 and having green tea after dinner regularly after a oily or heavy meal... 🍵
10000% yes to asian skincare!! It wasn’t as available in the states when I was a teen/young adult but so glad it’s bigger now. Wes, if you use vitamin c serum I think it’s so much more important to always wear sunscreen! (Sunscreen should be worn daily whether you’re indoors or outdoors!)
Growing up, I had a bunch of acne and most of them were cystic acne about the size of a nickel. I was so embarassed and felt ashamed and wonder why when I would wash my face, moisterized, and did every thing I possibly could. Then after learning about how food directly affects our skin (which is kind of obvious but we don't always turn to food to fix acne, we usually try to treat it with products), my acne cleared up and I haven't gotten any for over 10 years and counting! So here are some foods to eat less of or eliminate completely or to be aware of that contributes to acne: Diary (milk, cheese, etc), Soy products (tofu, etc), Nightshade plants (eggplants, tomatoes, etc), alcohol, and refined sugar (the biggest offender). If you decided to eat these foods less, your skin will see some improvement so don't think you need to spend a lot of money on lots of skincare or expensive ones. And always drink some water! And for those worried about aging skin like wrinkles, the BEST anti-aging skincare you can get is honestly SPF. The sun is what causes the skin to age so getting a good SPF is better than spending a lot of money on "anti-aging" skincare. Hope this helps!
True about the food contributions but biggest tip: don't pick on your acne, i learned the hard way 10 years after with some scarring even with using accutane (that didn't work for me) and dermarollers (that helped a bit). Sunscreen definitely helps even now to help protect but moisturize your skin while being out. But yes make sure to wash your face every night, thats the worst time to collect dirt
My skincare rountine is just about 2 steps. My skin don’t have big breakouts, just a few pimples. My skin sometimes get a bit dry and a bit oily. I just put on an ointments cream and a sunscreen + moisturizer I only wear a face mask 2 times in my life. My mom and is cheap and buy face masks only once in a while.
My mom was always helping my brother and me with our skincare when we were growing up! Now as adults my brother and I have the products we like + our own dedicated skincare routines. 💖 My Filipino parents have ALWAYS encouraged (*cough* nagged) us to use sunscreen and take care of our skin, talking about their own regrets not taking care of their own skin growing up. Hope y'all be taking care of your skin and yoselves! P.S. Phil - listen to ABG episode 82 on skincare with Liah Yoo! That should answer your Qs ;)
I love my skincare routine it is my favorite part of my night time routine and morning routine. I am glad the guys are talking about skincare, it definitely needs to be normalized. I just started my brother on his skin care routine a couple of weeks ago and he is enjoying it. I do have to say consistency is key, washing your face, moisturizing, and spf every day or you wont see changes, im surprised no one mentioned retinol/vitamin a, its key to skincare.
u guys should use more gentle cleansers! they are non-drying and good for sensitive skin, too. one that is easily found in drugstores is the cereve hydrating cleanser in the green bottle! should be good for all skin types (oily, dry, sensitive) because of that gentle, non-drying factor!
funny enough, I honestly didnt think about skincare until this past year!! I literally did not realize that everyone had a routine and WOULD NEVER USE SUNSCREEN
Was watching this while doing my night routine. And when Phil said people who have 13 steps I looked over at my skincare shelf and saw I was on step 7/13 😅 felt so called out 🤣
Growing up, Filipino girls just went by what our parents told us to do. According to the collective knowledge of the Old Wives, the first time we get our period, we should wipe our faces with the underwear we bled through after the first wash. In fact, our family has an amusing story about my grandmother ordering my then preteen father to steal a neighbor's panties hanging out to dry in their backyard. It belonged to their daughter who had her first period. My dad thought it was ridiculous, but his mother insisted. To this day, my dad's face is relatively acne-free, as is mine. Hey, don't knock it till you try it!🤪😘

Sunscreen should be wore on even if you are inside. Unless the place you're in is a bat cave, doesn't have windows nor get sun rays.

Curology sounds cool, first time hearing this type of service/model, guessing it's a US only thing though...?
Oil cleansing is a much more gentle form of cleanser that doesnt strip ur skins natural oils. Water based cleanser strips ur face oils.
well the water based cleanser shouldn’t strip ur skin, and it should be used after oil cleansing.
How come Wes' wall is bare? Where's the picture on that wall?
