- The BMW X5 is now in its fourth generation (G05) and is even more popular than ever. It’s a good, do-it-all luxury SUV - but owners seem to like them so much that they want to be buried in them, apparently. Tim Rodie reviews the X5 to find out why.

Extremely difficult to find well-specced second hand because so many people lease base spec poverty models because they can't actually afford one.

In Canada there's HUGE number in used sale. It's one of the best selling BMW along with the X3 and 3 Series.
My 2011 N63 X5 is an absolute boss on the road
In Canada the 4th generation pre-LCI came in two body styles (xLine & M Sport) and 4 different engines (xDrive40i, xDrive45e, M50i and M Competition) there's no diesel models; 20in wheels were standard on all models with option for 21in and 22in.
For the 2024 LCI base package xLine xDrive40i with the 375hp 3 liter inline 6 starts at $86k (£50k)
My dads first bmw suv was a f15 x5 with a 2.0l diesel and that car was so big, beautiful and comfortable, ever since that hes only bought x5s and currently theres 2 of the new x5s in the garage, one is the 3.0l diesel and one is the 3.0l petrol, we would also take these to the grave with us. Incredibly comfortable and daily drivable cars

Just a question regarding engine reliability, are the 3 litre diesel MHT (mild hybrid) reliable or are there engine problems regarding the new hybrid system?

This exact model is 2020. Looks for model years 2019 to 2023 (it had a mid-cycle refreshed for 2024). The next (5th) generation will launch in 2026 for the 2027 model year
Am after x5m50 diesel 18plate decent miles
totally understand why you'd buy this as your last car - it's the people who get them as their first cars I'm scared of
I don't know which insurance company is brave enough to insure that as a first car :O

I love my X5, but trunk space SUCKS. My biggest gripe is that you cant even put a set of golf clubs in length wise, which is a joke. When we go on vacation with our 2 kids, we have to take her QX60 because the X5 trunk space is just way too small.
