I am 67 and just retired and started drawing as a hobby going into retirement. I've watched some of your "how to" videos and have learned so good stuff. one thing I have a hard time with when doing pencil/paper is erasing. I have this notion that once I make a mark it is there forever yet when I do it digitally I have no problem with erasing. I subscribed. edit ; oh, trying to find my "style" after watching you and a couple of others I find anime/manga-style is more what I am after
Tip from a fellow comic artist: It would be much easier to see when you're inking if you pressed Ctrl + B on that rough sketch layer abd drop the opacity to 30, so you can focus more on the look and feel of the inks.
i wanna create my own manga but where i live its difficult for me to find the education to improve my skills i am in my final year of highschool i am kinda scared to start. i wanna improve everything i want to learn.
Im kinda in the same boat as u. Im in my second to final year of high school and i want to make a manga. But my art sucks. But, my advice for you is to JUST DO IT. You're still young and you have lots of time to work on your manga. SO DO IT
Honestly, I've been in a similar boat. Tho I have been greatful enough to have went to college for graphic design, and built s formal background in the courses I took in illustration (outside of marketing/advertising), what's driven me years after graduating now most is deadlines. I stopped drawing outright for maybe the whole of this year, just unmotivated and really burnt out, but having come back, what I'm doing to improve is my buddy who's a TV writer and I are are working on a 36hour Comic-jam, ala game jam. Similar rules and set up. But instead you develop a one shot/single issue in just a select amount of hours. Figured it helps to re infodce that idea of a deadline, cuz it help to really learn on the page.
I shall try with the rough draft I did for a character panel this evening. Nothing to lose but a few hours of my life 😅 I see you use the REAL G-Pen too 👏 Also, when I do heads, I tend to correct their size often after doing the bodies I just actually do the heads on their own layer because it's faster than trying to select around and clean up the lineart again. Parts like arms and legs I also tend to do it on different layers because I keep tweaking them, and sometimes for foreshortening the perspective transform helps a lot to make stuff to look much better without compromising the rest of the body (if it gets too blurry after tweaking the lines with transform, just use Sharpen More and it will fix it with a single pass).
This was so useful 🥹 I get so nervous inking my final sketch that it looks stiffer than the cleaned up version. This is perfect to keep the original essence of the final sketch while inking and making it polished 😮💨👌🏾
Thank for the video! Hey Whyt, have you thought about about updating your videos on power systems and transformations for a Shonen manga? To see what has changed or not when it comes to creating a transformation/power system.
ngl, this just lvl me up abit. instantly after watching, i started skipping steps and going from draft to clean :p its way better to do this, especially if you know what your drawing
Whyt, I got this unorthodox method for making manga I wanted to ask you about. Like I was wondering If this approach I had to making manga was a good Idea to do before submitting it to anyone.
Yo uh bro you could say no but do you think that I could possibly get a....shout-out next episode, you really inspired me to start making manga art and I promise you I'll do the same in my first video!
Let's get it! see how to ink without any detailed sketch! more to come!

Proko, Stephen Silver, Mike Matessi, Ron Lemen, all on RUclips. Andrew Loomis books too. The rest is application of the knowledge.

I’m a simple guy, I see Whyt Manga I click.
Thank you for your video! I'm just curious but for some circular shapes, why do you refrain from using the shape tool?
Long Time no see ❤

So I suppose to do the storyboard close up or far distance to draw it
whichever you prefer.
@ which way you prefer
With all the constant goals you keep setting for me, I dunno what i will do
How many hours or days does it take you to draw a chapter?

This is great, but does this work for traditional art too?
Yes, but you gotta be Kim Jung Gi level.
@ oh… well I guess I can’t do this yet then
Мне чаще всего не нравится как выглядит финальный скетч. Я сильно расстраиваюсь и в итоге удаляю всю работу😢
Since when was Sano brown skin?
