    I’ve just literally walked through the front door having come from Screwfix with a new Ox Speedskim and the first video I see is Blaine’s comparison between the X Skim and the Speedskim. He came to the same conclusion as you, the X Skim is better. Good job I haven’t opened the box yet! It’ll be going back tomorrow and the X Skim will be getting ordered.

    Thanks for that very informative review and I'm enjoying some of your other videos.
    I'm a total DIY'er and although I can tape, joint and skim plasterboard, I'm certainly no plasterer . I am going to be skimming over some 90's Artex ceilings and was wondering what size X Skim would you recommend?

    Have an old one and every way I use it leaves a line, bought the new one and it's loads better leaves no lines. I was that impressed I bought a metal blade one, haven't used it yet. Not my cup of tea for the sand/cement. Great video Alex.👌

    Hello. Can you please tell me the difference the refina x skim and refina superskim metal blade option. I know the x skim is interchangeable blades but other than that what is the difference.

    Does both the plastic and metal do the same and just a personal preferance or do they do and achieve different finishes

    • @Jellyisamazing
      @Jellyisamazing 7 месяцев назад

      Plastic definitely makes it pull in quicker, metal helps keep it wetter, you can almost have both for different season in the UK

    Presumably the X in 'X-Skim' stands for exchange...as in you can exchange the blade.....?

      not sure why they changed the sizes. though the 900mm is very nice. I probably wouldn’t go above or below the 900 size for domestic work.

    Why is plastic better than steel blade?

    • @AlexMorleyPlastering
      @AlexMorleyPlastering  Год назад +1

      Honestly it’s a video in itself. But the basics. They are easier to maintain as they can be sanded if damaged. They are stiffer as less prone to warping, as such can be used for heavier products, and lastly plastic blades don’t pull the moisture to the surface which helps in drying more evenly and it makes it easier to trowel up. Way less tiger marks with a plastic
