There was no revolution in the game. That was a rebellion. Second - one week delay was needed for Freeman, that he can make save way to Citadel, when the first battles are over. There is no leaders at frontlines, this is not how things work. Meat have to go first and take the most heat. That was smart move from Valve, at least they did some homework how riots work.
@@novakato2438 I would say it’s a revolution because it’s referred to as an uprising, pretty much everyone you see joined the resistance en masse, and the few people who didn’t join were probably rounded up and shipped to some other city and placed in prison. It doesn’t really feel like a riot even if the city is in anarchy, it feels more like a war zone. And yes there are soundscape files named riot_01 to 12 or 15 or something, but I think that’s just generic fighting and yelling sounds. The reason it feels like meat charging forward to shield you is that they don’t have any combat training. Everyone probably just wrestled a metrocop for their gun and raided an armory somewhere, but they do show some tactics other than just “charge forward and kill them.” For example, people holding back for reinforcements before charging a gate, or expressing interest in taking the nexus offline to weaken the Combine’s hold over the sector
