Mallet FE 442-55 (0-4-4-0T) Ansaldo 1938 is taken to Asmara Locomotive Works for a refit by Mallet FE 440-008 (0-4-4-0T) Ansaldo 1915, with the help of Tank FE 202-002 (0-4-0T) Breda 1927. It took three attempts to get it up the gradient. From the FarRail Tour to Eritrea 29/01 - 02/02/2012. Авто/Мото
Turntable appears to be a SLIDEtable or straight a DRAWER instead - I've never seen such a nice design before !
It is a traverser - a sideways-moving platform for transferring a locomotive / coach / wagon from one set of rails to another. Still used in most locomotive works today.
The wheels slip quite bad..
Hi, I am planning to model this railway station... I know where the turn table is situated, but I have not figured out where the traverser would go. Do you know where I should find it on the map of the area?
It's at the Railway Workshop about a mile away from the station.
@@EvenFurtherRail thnx!
Wot no comments. That can't be right. I would have thought the appalling wind noise merited a mention. You need an external mic with a wind sock. I recommend the Zoom H2N. Congrats on getting more than 1,000 views on two of you videos BTW.
