My dad was a Navy welder and built LSTs. He worked on the LST seen in the back ground @0:17. Its numbered 601, was built in Senica, IL launched March 4 1944 and Celia Counter Finch was the sponsor. Dad would leave the Navy welding program after D-day and transferred to the U.S. Army, and served in Europe with the 36th I.D. later receiving the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and became a POW until the end of war. Because he started out in the Navy, Navy has always been in our hearts. I'm a pilot and have always been a diehard Blue Angel Fan!
