    Lol!!! I have this planer for 5 years. Worked sometimes. I thought the blade holder was the blade. Finally said I’ll buy some new blades and that’s when I saw the thin blades. Then I found this video and aha! I’m stoked now. But it worked without thin blade. Not on everything, but some how it worked.??? Go figure. Can’t wait to actually use it again now!

    Alex I am not sure you have this quite right. Those heavy metal pieces you call holders I believe are the actual replacement blades, at least that what is on the package I have (which appears to be a genuine Makita product). They are razor sharp which seems to me to indicate that they are in fact blades.

    Hi great video but why do you remove the 2 small screws on blade holder why not just losern them as it slides the bracket just saves fiddling about with 2 small screws ty

      Good question, i took it all out for cleaning and demonstration purposes...

    I think it is important to note is that the holder has a notch - which if it was a blade it would not have a notch. There are "blades" without a notch and the process would be a little different and NOT include the mini blades! Correct?

    Thanks for your updated video. I just ordered a new makita planer KP0800K. Will my planer come with the better/thicker blade holddown piece or is that an upgrade part that has to be ordered extra.

      Hi, thanks for the comment-- You buy the new style "Blade Kit" separately from the planer kit at any Makita supplier--

      Good Question-- Any of the planers i bought i always ended up buying the upgrade kit separately --

    Has anybody measured that gauge block with a caliper so I won't need to spend $20 on it?

      What is the size of gauge block

    • @davejoseph5615
      @davejoseph5615 4 года назад

      That is my question. The block allows you to set the blade height screws. Makita part number 123010-1.

    I know you tried to make a better video but looking at the back of your hand and your elbow ain't helping anything. Thanks though
