3 years old and still with the annoying music.
uuuuuhuuuuh uuuuhh uuuuhhh
really for the average DIY / Builder this tool is useless after the 1st set of blades have gone.. everytime I tried to change the blades I find that that parts of the holding plate are bent. It's absolutely impossible to get the blades adjusted and back so that it cuts smoothly and evenly.. I could literally be there all week and still not get it right... already spent too much money on replacement parts and ready to just give it up now. Maybe something for profi carpenters and machinists only...
We recently lumbered a 36" maple, a 36" white ash, and a 32" pecan. After drying, we tried planing with a Rigid (Home Depot) 13" planer with 2 HSS knives ruclips.net/user/postUgkxIzvvTi3_Qc8JnVdYYRJCvuoDC4QjTzeL . This job was clearly too much for that machine. The pecan was particularly difficult, due to heavy mineral deposits, and a sharp pair of HSS knives would be consumed by a mere 3 boards. We were also having lots of problems from chip bruising, due to poor dust collection. The shavings came off like straw and jammed in the 4" hose.We bought the DW735 simply to be able to run carbide blades, which worked brilliantly for the pecan. However, we found it to be a much, MUCH nicer machine. It was far more rigid than the "Rigid" planer, and far more accurate as well. But what I liked most about it was the dust feed. This machine has its own blower, which shreds the "straw" like shavings as they come off the cutting head and helps boost the shavings into the dust collection system. No more clogs! It's also nicely sealed so that the internals stay quite clean. This is just a well tempered machine that's a delight to use. It literally cut the labor in half. Just another example of getting what you pay for.
That Alleged Music is Bad.
Owwwww….my ears!!
1. You will need the gauge provided, a Phillips Head screwdriver and a 10mm socket.
2. Earplugs for the unhelpful music.
3. Address of nearest cash converters or Bunnings for when you give up and decide to buy a replacement plane
4. The gauges don't seem to be sold separately. Good luck everybody.
Hey, part number for the blade gauge is 123062-2. Unfortunately not all dealers have these in stock however you will be able to order one from your nearest authorised Makita Dealer.
@@MakitaAustralia part is not listed in the inventory of new sales of the planet and not listed on the Makita websites.
It took half an hour wrangling with your website for a salesperson to find the item.
I now have one but even then, once the packaging is opened, the small black piece of plastic becomes anonymous as it has no identification markings.
It's fine if you have money to just buy a new one but not if you want to simply replace blades on a new machine.
@@MakitaAustralia what garbage engineering , god forbid i need to do this in the field. Will be exclusively buying dewalt and mikwaukee cordless after this shit show of an ordeal. Pce out makita 🤭
obnoxious music
Where does that black "squaring up" gauge come from? Certainly didn't come with the plane
Yes it comes with it
Why are the blades so small and fragile? Surely there’s a simpler fix?? And the adjusting screws are made from toffee. Be warned, apply release agent first!
Its mostly for pine, would be a lot more expensive if made in other materials
Noisy music track!
I found the manual's instructions excessively complex despite reading them several times. This video clarified what needs to be done. Thanks a lot for the very clear instructions and close-up video.
Having had this Makita planer and unable to the new placement blade in position many times so decided to use a little plumber's putty on top so it would not move on the plate. Worked first time from a diyer.
What do you if you dont have the gauge base? What is the size so i can make one up.
I have an extra one I can send you if you want
is it possible if you use steel blades than the carbide one? please can someone help me ..
I ordered new blades for my Makita handheld planer (which looks "similar" to this) but there are no little knives in it. I removed the drum cover and there was the 1"x3" plate with beveled cutting edge and the black adjustment hookplate. How do I align these blades!?
Terry Wysocki You use that black plastic gauge ,the good thing about Makita is they've kept the same drum design for years and you have the option of using the heavy resharpenable blades which are better than the thin fragile blades btw the manual should tell you how to set them.
@@interman7715 Any way to video demo the setup for the 1"x3" blades?
is it possible to change ta blades from double edge to old one..the steel blades? pls help
Did you end up getting a answer. I have seen the conversion kit, so I would say yes
Great video and yes the manual is quite opaque!
Finally I know what that stupid plastic square was for hahaha 🤣
Hi, thanks for your help.
I need to replace the level handle Wich is broken.
Bosh 3365
What is with this hex style music?
Well that didn't help lol
Iv done this now my depth gauge seems messed up why anyone?
Same here
THANKS!!!! instructions were just a little too abstract for me in the manual. Took me two minutes after watching your vid.
They don’t make it easy do they
