    This is what made me firmly decide to save Olgeird. How O’Dimm sadistically tormented this poor man made me loathe him, so I resolved to hurt him as much as I could, which sadly wasn’t much but I’ll take what I can get.

      This along with how Gaunter O'Dimm savagely impaled the spoon into that older man's eye earlier in the tavern. Interestingly, even though O'Dimm doesn't "cheat," he somehow invokes some stipulations to callously kill people to his black heart's content.

    • @Nuxinor
      @Nuxinor 8 месяцев назад +7

      I do the opposite. To me, O’Dmm is by far the best and most interesting character in the Witcher universe. I’m sure people are still debating whether he’s God as the initials imply or the devil, or both at the same time.
      Nevertheless, he helped Geralt several times, even saved his life from Olgierd’s scheme and even grants a wish to Geralt if you fulfill the terms of the bargain. Plus he’s so deliciously sinister. I side with O’Dimm ever time and let’s not forget what an appalling though likeable character Olgierd is, how much suffering he has caused.

    • @Mr-Rinn
      @Mr-Rinn 8 месяцев назад +6

      @@Nuxinor Oh he’s absolutely interesting, but in my opinion he’s much worse than Olgierd, especially as he’s the cause of some of Olgierd’s worst acts due to giving him a heart of stone. Besides, saving Olgierd isn’t exactly letting him off the hook, because even if it’s the lesser punishment he gets his heart back and he actually comprehends what he did to his brother (yes he did that beforehand but the stone heart probably lessened his guilt significantly), and what he did to his wife and the general banditry, he says outright he can’t go back to how he was before, if he didn’t feel guilt he probably would have.
      But back to O’Dimm, there’s what he does to the poor professor, I mean giving the man lifelike dreams where he has a wonderful daughter who he can’t help but care about, then having her horribly die while trapping him in a small circle for the rest of his life is absolutely horrific. And he also murders a drunken man just for interrupting him.

    I like how shakeslock doesnt refer to O’dimms power as magic, but rather evil. In many works of fiction their are powers or abilities, that of themselves are neutral by nature that often get used for villainy . This can lead to problems for heroes that use similar abilities by causing people to be suspicious of them. But here Shakeslock makes it clear, it’s not magic, or any tool someone may use, it’s pure evil. Simple and terrifying. Their is plenty of evil in the Witcher world, but it’s the evil of people, this is a different kind, Evil, less as a behavior and choice but more by nature

  • @PaddyRoon7

    I love the implication that his feeling pleasure is what killed him. The circle probably did nothing, but was designed to keep him living in fear for the rest of his life. The moment he felt pleasure (or perhaps just the absence of that fear), O'Dimm would act immediately.
