      Jason hi!, I'm glad you've had so much success with training your ddr puppy but the success you've had in your puppy might not be with everyone who has a ddr puppy all ddr's are not the same so you might want to keep that in mind ! Thanks for listening!

      Not sure if it applies to the working line, but I used to own a German Showline. (Great dog!) The breeder said not to take the puppy on long walks until after 1 years of age. It can mess their bone development up, if you do. Just an fyi..

    • @MA-xd9zl

      @@swhmettaactually is 5min walks for every month, so at 2 months 10min and so on, progressively, and no intense running etc. I’m waiting for my puppy to be born, couldn’t be more anxious 😂

    Wow! What an absolute beautiful dog, he’s got that working line look to him. Growing up my uncle trained Shepard’s such as you, we had a male working bloodline Shepard and his name was Sarge. Man does max remind me of him! They have that stud of a face and so fast to learn. Sarge was so well trained my dad would say BEER and sarge would run inside bark at the fridge my mom would put a can of bud in his mouth and sarge always made it back to dad without punching a hole in it! Haha

    I love East German Shepherd Dogs. I was born and raised in communist Poland. I remember from childhood powerful sheepdogs guarding the property. frost, snow, bared fangs behind the fence. I currently have a cane corso and a german boxer, but such a shepherd keeps me awake at night. I've had two in my life and want a third. great dogs.

    I have an east German intact male who was the pick of the litter.
    I wanted him for private drug detection work and other types of security work.
    Despite plenty of socialization, surface and traffic exposure he developed panosteitis and was a reactive dog.
    I took him to a lot of training courses but they were training family pets.
    He has very strong prey drive.
    He is now 10 years old and suffers from arthritis.
    We still walk every day and I let him decide the route.
    I was never one for clicker training and always had issues with high value treats.
    Due to where I live and regulatory requirements, he just served as my companion which was a disappointment for both him and me.
    But, we're together 24/7 and he enjoys travelling.
    Looks similar to the one you're training.

    Our working line GSD (west German & Czech ancestry) puppy jumped to 4 foot high boulders in our garden at 7 months, and down the 8 foot high face without hesitation. Loved it, never got hurt. For children jumping at young age causes the bones to get thicker and stronger (impact stress), it must be the same for puppies. So it looks bit funny to help him down from a 2 foot high table. He should be able (possibly is) to jump over the whole thing, easily.
    We are lucky to have a 20x30 yard sized boulder garden on our front yard, dogs can run, jump and climb to their hearts' content when growing up. It looked funny when in our obedience training group people started to teach their 2-3 year old dogs how to jump over a 2 foot obstacle. Like what? Should be something a dog should be able to do automatically. Or are they just walked in a park and lifted on and off cars???

    • @t1red802
      @t1red802 Год назад

      It’s stress on the growth plates. At an older age (over 2 years) they can be jumping 6ft fences if the dog is capable, since the growth plates are not still actively developing under severe stress.

    • @tapioportimo2551
      @tapioportimo2551 16 дней назад

      @@t1red802 How about wolf puppies, is a trainer preventing them from jumping the most dangerous obstacles in the wild? It is also a question of agility which needs to be developed at young age, as at least in humans if there not enough gymnastics (meaning old fashioned rough play) at young enough age the person can not learn to run for example as an adult, as the muscles and nerve connections are not developing enymore. Must be the same with dogs.

    I need help with my GSD.. I got her when she was eight months old. She just turned one on May 26th. She came from the south and the transporter had to have her shaved because she was so badly matted.. she came afraid of people. I’m guessing she never got touched and had no positive interactions with humans.. she is good with the family.. I have a five-year-old son and a three-year-old son a 13-year-old German Shepherd and a rescue that is 3 & a Himalayan cat. She is selective with who she likes and has recently started to bark aggressively at people when they come over. I have a prong collar a harness and shock collars.. I think I just need to give her that “level 10 correction!.. wish me luck!😂😭

I tried the ecollar with her but I’m lost and I don’t wanna hurt her cause these dogs can be very well she is a big baby too ! But i know training is so important for her ! Lord i wished I was closer and try to get that extra boost of support however I live in Kentucky lol far away ! How much are your prices for the board and train please? I know there are other trainers near me but I have to be careful cause this is my baby cause not everyone trainer is the same or understands the Czech or working line and some will waist your time and $ and some will be to harsh and i refuse to leave my baby with the wrong trainer who claims they understand this breed

      DDR is the German abbreviation for GDR (German Democratic Republic, existed from 1949 to 1990).
      DDR German Shepherds are dogs originating from East Germany’s Cold War military canine development efforts. It’s a working line GSD breed.

    Nice boy,thanks for shareing, Garret. Aaaah yes, working line German Shepherds and their teeth... I've noticed that my own one (western German working line) has far larger teeth than the average dog, in relation to her overall body-size, or even just the head size. Very healthy teeth as well, next to no discoloration at 6 years of age. But that effect (BIG teeth in relatively small/slender dog) seems amplified in those "pocket rocket" Malinois. Those that look as though someone's added Pitbull to the Mix. Or shall we say, the effect was MALIFIED :-) I suppose that's what many generations of hardcore-bitework in the breeding stock bring about...
