I applaud you for keeping the GSD alive through correct breeding by focusing more on drive, health and temperament rather than conformation. Captain von Stephanitz would be proud of your efforts.
@zarazoostra I agree the perfect dog has to have good conformation and beautiful physical specimen but at the same time the drive and the genetics to work
I have one, she works well. In addition, the dog is hardly a bust and is more genetically pure than the GS. Red Star Kennels went broke, like every other Soviet institution, and private people did a stellar job keeping the dog up to par. There are plenty of vids on the dogs working, but not nearly as common as your fav GS within all the genetic & show issues. The BRT didn't exist until 1955 or thereabouts. Far better dog, does not shed a lot. easily trained, perfect teeth, will hold a bite, will work just as well as a GS when trained. There aren't enough out there to say "they don't work well", sample size is small. I have a dog from Canada, amazing gal.
Seriously, I like mine, and she's naturally protective, and easy to train, which is really nice. I'll keep feeding her :) I think the Russians did a good job with the dogs, even if they don't use them now. My dog is a pet first (5 months old) and protection second, not like I'm a rockstar or anything. I don't know if I'll start working the dog, my local club is well thought of, but 18MOS is the minimum, not a priority for me right now. I also like the Giant Schnauzer, but I'm glad I went with the BRT.
joseff climber damn straight if you could see what Australia has done to the pedigree dog world here you'd puke. Thank the good Lord for working lines and my working line bi coloured bitch Ava. The show line is horrendous, the one who won crufts hips were basically touching the floor. The Czech Working Line is awesome, straight backs, stocky, muscular, but they are hard work and need a ton of exercise but I love my Luka to bits. If you want a German Shepherd get a working line they are much healthier.
@@novorossiya459 not west german working lines? I have dead straight back western german working line. On point. And I have a DDR CZ dog with mainly straight with a slight sloping back.. it's you know.
This guy gives the best names to his dogs. I’ve grown up with German Shepards my whole life, all my aunts and uncles have had them, my grandparents on my mom side had them and my dad’s father bred them and trained them for his security business. I can remember him going outside and giving each of them a steak when they completed all their agility and protection training. I’m on my third German Shepard now, Tsar, and he’s just a wonderful boy. He’s 10 now and winding down, he likes to sit with me and huff and make sweet old man sounds. I’m gonna be heart broken when he’s gone. GSD’s are the best, and I’ll never not have one. Can’t imagine a better addition to a family than a lovely, intelligent, and protective German Shepard.
In two months I'm getting a working GSD puppy. Her parents were imported from Germany and are DDR german shepherds. The breeder is amazing and really cares about preserving the breeds original working traits. I'm so excited!
She's from Weberhaus German Shepherds in Kansas. It's going great she has such a wonderful personality, strong drive and her temperament is solid. She is an angel around children but can play rough with other dogs. She is the best behaved dog I've ever had
That wasn't an ASL in the picture and the AKC doesn't allow that type of dog to win in the ring. The dog shown was from crufts and crufts only lets west german showlines(WGSLs) show in their ring.
my question to the AKC is, what is the point of having a "breed" if he can't do what he was "bred" to do?? If we want a dog that can't perform any specific task special to his breed, we could just get a mixed dog from the shelter, the reason breeds exist is because each one has a speciality, rottweilers guarding, huskies sled pulling, labradors hunting waterfowl, but a show german shepherd?? what strength does he have? he can't have any when he no longer can perform the same tasks as his ancestors, he can be trained to do some things, but not much comes natural to him anymore, like strong nerves and a natural will to protect, what show dog gsd has strong nerves? none. and the ones that so called "protect" are usuaully biting people out of fear, not a protective nature
I really hate how show lines look. I didn't know working line GSDs existed until a few years ago, and I thought they were the ugliest dogs ever! As soon as I saw a working dog I was stunned!!! So beautiful and handsome in every way
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I have both lines and the show line dog always gets compliments when I take him for walks even now that he’s reaching 10yrs old. My working line one, now at 3yrs old hasn’t got a single compliment.
beenbeen, Agreed! We're looking between two breeders right now. What the guy in the video is showing, Is NOT A GS-WORKING DOG. Working dogs have *straight backs* . None of these sloping Back/Spine Mutations are Standard Working Shepherds, which is the foundation of the Breed. Mostly, we use them for Working Farm Dogs. They are BIG Dogs, with very large heads, and bodies, of which the sloped backs cannot compare. In Intelligence and Health, there is no comparison to the mutation that some seem to prefer.
Julio Reyes yup, show line dogs are just mutations of a healthy normal dog. They are so bloody ugly, problem is people that breed these things for shows looks are just so ignorant of how bad they look.
My pup is working line. Beautiful straight back, small ears and athletic. I’ve had dobermans, a dogo argentino, a jack russell terrier and mutts before. They were all great dogs but none compare to my current GSD. She is the smartest, most obedient and most loyal dog I’ve ever had. She never chewed anything, either. So, for me, this has been the easiest dog to handle.
I admire your dedication to the GSD as he was intended to be. Owners of any individual dog need to be able to judge temperment and try, as best possible, to find a good match for themselves. We have a GSD rescue who is a fantastic companion dog. I saw Tango at an adoption event, barking and lunging at every dog that passed, and cringing when people passed too close by. When I told my wife that this was the perfect dog for us, she thought I was crazy. It took two years, and a few nasty vet bills to get her healthy, socialized, and properly obedience trained. She was trained in a soft , calm but extremely consistent manner. Because she was abused and neglected, she needed to find humans she could trust and respect. Through the whole process of regaining her confidence, she remained extremely well mannered, and dedicated to pleasing us. Is she breed standard for a working dog? Not even close. She is completely loved and cherished for the calm affectionate pet that she is. Popularity breeds greed and greed breeds bad canines. American GSDs are a prime example of trying to make pets and/or show dogs from a working breed. By and large, they have lost their working charicteristics and health as well. I knew what Tango was and what she wasn't. Saying she is a GSD is...not very accurate. For people who know how to train and handle a high drive working dog, I'd say your dogs are exactly what they are looking for.
I have a 10 year old gsd had him since a pup and it breaks my heart seeing him get old. He's the best dog ive ever had. He has a friend that is my 2 year old bull terrier and they play non stop.
Love the worki g line.Mine is all black. Was my stock dog, I retriained to be my service dog due to amputation bka. So smart and loyal.8 and half years old.I will miss him.If I outlive him.
We waited 3 years for our straight back GS. We were prepared to wait as long as it took to find the right breeding, there’s so many badly bred GS here in Australia, especially with the showline, some look like they’re constantly urinating as they walk along, or walking on their hocks as you described, it’s heartbreaking. We’re currently waiting to bring our new working line home soon to add to our family.
I have a 8 mth old German shepherd bitch,Czech bloodlines, she is one of the best dogs I have ever had no slope back. She is a excellent guard dog can't wait to have her trained for protection, when she is older.
This is the best video I’ve ever watched by far he’s genuine and accurate I have two German shepherds and the first one is a female working class and I can’t express how much we love her and I also have a male and he’s not a working class but a absolutely beautiful dog He’s a little crazy but we love him none the less but the female is by far the smartest dog I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned quite a few dogs and my female German Shepard is hands down the best dog I’ve ever owned but the male is the best guard dog I’ve ever seen NO one goes near our house both of my neighbors had break ins and for some reason we never had a problem and a gas meter reader that won’t ever go in the back yard either (he made it out with out harm LOL ) but I won’t ever buy another dog other then a German Shepard again
Our little runty black German Shepherd Mousey is the most intelligent dog I’ve ever seen or been around. She knows over a dozen commands weather spoken or from hand signals. She will “herd” all 3 of our Great Danes inside when they don’t wanna come; and all with a ChuckIt Ultra Ball in her mouth. She’s super small at 50 pounds, we call her our Shetland Shepherd, or Mini, Mighty, or Atomic Mouse…she just wants to please you but has a very high drive. My parents have her sister (littermate) Lilly and shes 90 pounds of muscle. Mousey runs circles around her and is 3x’s more intelligent.
I agree with this guy completely a dog should be allowed to work from my experience most dogs are much happier when they have a job unless they're just an absolutely lazy breed but you can give a bullmastiff a job and it's going to be happy to do it as long as it's not too strenuous obviously not all dogs have the same amount of working ability but I've never met a dog that doesn't want a job
Great video and spot on concerning the information passed. Our Lyla is a working line GSD 1.5yrs old.. Silver and black 26" tall and 80 LBs. She is by far the best dog for our family. She is protective, loyal and super smart. Gorgeous and functional dogs that are so very capable of doing work along with being with families that appreciate and spend time with them.
Well said and doing the right things. I have a 9 month old female in Thailand show breed. Tons of people say breed her and give me a puppy. Yeah right. Love give/ sell a dog to someone with common sense. That's a big ask today. I'm with my dog 24 / 7. She is ready to go outside around people anytime. Starting trailing and tracking now since it rainy season and cool in Thailand. Thanks again for you great perspective on GSD
I have a working line and everyone thinks it's not a purebred because they are smaller and doesn't have that huge slope working is the original German shepherd I refuse to have any other kind of German shepherd
aubrey Aubrey I have this same issue. When she was a pup people would ask is that a kelpie? I would get that right eye twitch going. But now it's no skin off my nose if they question her breed I just tell em pop that sleeve on we'll show you what working line dogs really do ahha. Keep ya head up I'm with ya.
I completely agree. I get looks to when I tell them mine is a purebred. He's bigger and doesn't have the exaggerated slope and I wouldn't have it any other way. He's beautiful and everyone else thinks so too. As far as confirmation, who cares? I certainly don't. I'm with you, this is the the true gsd and I wouldn't want anything else.
aubrey Aubrey. I wondered how your GSD turned out? Your post is a year old now. I have a young black GSD who comes from working lines and is beautiful! I prefer her look more than the sloppy back backed, oversized AKC show lines are turning into. Please let me know about your pup?
Ookami Kage I totally agree. There still are Show line breeders who stick to the standard. I have working line GSDs. I have friends and family members who have Show Lines. They are absalutely beautiful and perfect. That's because the breeders kept them to the exact standard.
I just brought home my "Inge" ( Ing-ga) 2 days ago. I did not pick her out of the litter, she picked me. I had my mind set on a male, however Inge and I bonded immediately. Her father was an import from Germany. She is doing great, loves to play. She was recently wormed and given shots (not rabies yet). She had a bit of diarrhea of which has cleared up somewhat. I was terrified it was parvovirus, however no obvious look and smell of that quick killer .She is a working line from both working line parents. Thanks for this video. Very informative
Can't tell you how long we spent looking for a reputable breeder. I got so many "No, trust me the hips are good" when we asked for vet records and xrays. When I found the right breeder they show me all of their dogs, go over all food they feed them, showed me their IPO titles, even showed me the goats that they milk to add to the puppy food. Their GSD's were perfectly calm on their farm with all poultry completely free ranging and the dogs just mingled and they had lost no poultry to predators living in a high predator area. We have a small farm and needed the temperament to herd but not attack our animals. We ended up with a beautiful girl who is 7 mo currently. We had her evaluated by a GSD professional who normally breeds for military and PD but he took me and her on as a training client. What the truth is was I had a phenomenal dog and I needed to step my game up to be a better handler.
Honestly I’ve got a great shepherd she’s czheck 100 perecent and has the bark and bite gene I train in German were in Florida I’ve had two years of experience in asl and foreign decent shepherds both pure amazing I learn literally every day there’s no perfect
As a kid my family had inherited a working GSD. I was unaware it was a "working" GSD till years later as I had assumed that she was just short-haired and likely the runt of the litter. She was the best dog as kidand extremely protective of myself and my family. I now own 3 Australian cattle dogs but Id like to have a working GSD again one day.
West German show line dog is a complete all round dog in my opinion. Best combination of beauty, strength, and performance. Amazing temperament, calm in the house but can turn the switch when needed. With strong nerves, big heads and males weighing 90-100 lbs, they have a lot of power for work. Most of them have good hips/elbows and overall health. I own son of current top dog in Germany VA1 Willy Vom Kuckucksland. Puppies from any of the VA & V rated dogs in German sieger are excellent.
Bri Rayachoti, Just want to inform you that I had 6 GSD and all were American show line. All were smart, strong, protective, and good natured as well as healthy. i had 1 that had the slope back and he was healthy and a great dog as well. My most recent is all black, long haired, smart, protective and weighs 125 pounds and is fast. he would put this guys dogs to shame as far as looks goes. Anybody who constantly trains their dogs all the time, their dogs are going to obey like the dogs in this video. Not everybody needs a working line GSD because most people have the dog as a family pet and for family protection. It's not like the dog is going to work everyday as a police dog. Many people on this post are believing if you get a GSD only get a working line. NOTHING IS FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. I only buy GSD and have never had a problem.
I just watched the documentary from Taylor… I find your dog breeding beautiful! They are perfect in form, they are evidently bred with a beautiful temperament, I have read some of the comments throughout the year and I find people just choose to pick at something but they do not understand. I own a gorgeous black Shepherd. She is brilliant! When I talk to her, she looks at me and if she had words she would say would you like me to type that up and send it off for you please… LOL She is trained for protection, of course obedience and temperament. She is awesome and I see your dogs similar to her. With her when I bought her I owned a rogue dog, and One day while they were playing, I did not realize, Although, I always had my eyes on them, she swallowed a knit glove. It ended up blocking her bowel ending her in ICU for five days after surgery. I moved and then moved back to my home. As a result, I was unable to give her my full attention., “My time in maintaining her training“. I should also mention I fractured three of my ribs due to not paying attention to her high prey drive and cats. My recovery took a while, and again my lack of management with her. When settled back at home, I was able to reestablish what she already knew. She didn’t miss a beat. When I bought her, she was already trained! She is gorgeous and I would never want another breed other than the German Shepherd. The breeders trained her from a puppy… She was to be used as a breeder however after a visit from the vet they noted she had some dysplasia in one elbow. That changed her role in life as they chose not to breed her, which I find honorable. And I was the lucky one, who bought her. She is now four years old. I live alone in the country, with my shepherd… Whose name by the way is karma, her registered name is Czimera. I do not regret for one second the cost of her. She’s a beauty. I love what you talk about when you talk about the shepherd. I see some of yours are black! I think my Black Beauty Is amazing. However, I absolutely love the different colours and would have any colour at all. What I want in my dog is to bring myself up to speed because she knows her training, I have been lazy one. Thank you for all of your information. I would love to hear from you if you had any suggestions as to what to do with her next. As well your location
I have a serious preference for the LH GSD, they look so wonderful but I love them all. My GSD love of my life was a dark sable short haired GSD! I absolutely loveeeee these dogs. I will not get another one until I know exactly how I will work him/her for their mental/physical health, I will definitely get a working type. My childhood GSD had endless energy and I took her out everyday even all day in the summertime.
My favourite breed is a German Shepherd. May it be a showline or a working line but I understand that the working line has better drives which is very important to know. But it does depend on the goal. I love all the GSD's in the video especially Gordon Vom Fuchsgraben, Hammer Von TaylorHof & Marek Von Der Nacht.(Hammer is similar in looks to my GSD his name is Simson and I consider his as my cousin brother, he is 4 is four years old currently and really looks like Hammer.). I thank Mr Zeke(or uncle, for I'm just 14)Dickinson and Kris Taylor for the knowledge of the breed. I am Somesh from India.
My 10 month old female GSD is already 75 pounds. (She is not overweight the breeder breeds bigger dogs. My dog’s father is 100 pounds. They’re Czech-German Shepherd and Working dogs.) She enjoys agility training and guarding the house. We will start professional training when she is older just so we don’t overwork her hips and elbows.
I lost my vision when I was a child. When I got back from the hospital, I had a family German Shepherd and she used to help guide me around when I was trying to find my way around the yard. When I grow up, I want up getting a Seeing AI dog and she was a German Shepherd also know I’ve had two of them since then waiting to get my third shepherd. I wouldn’t have any other breed.
Love this video, tells it like it should be!! Would love to trace these dogs pedigrees to see who they go back to! That's my hobby. Keep up the good work and God bless!
Love a good working AND showline! There’s nothing wrong with going with a showline! If you have never owned a high energy breed or working, it’d be best to go showline first then move up to a higher energy levels!
The German show lines are beautiful dogs, I currently own a East German shepherd, working line. I’d absolutely love to own a German show line, I do plan when I hit my 60’s to get one.
PaulyDearest, I had all American show line GSD and they were all great dogs with a straight back. Only one had the slope back and he was healthy and great like the straight back. Where are these people getting this crazy idea that show line GSD are no good and unhealthy. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The reason why I like GSDs so much is their biddability. They're so much more biddable as compared to other breeds like Dobes or Rotts, yet still having more than sufficient strength/speed and aggression.
Much respect for your philosophy in breeding. IMO, form follows function, and health and function should be the apex of choices for the fantastic German Shepherd dog.
I like the showline. I love the colorvariation of the showlines. Only with straight backs though. Here in the Netherlands there are a lot of breeders that breed showlines with straight backs.
I have always really disliked that sloping angle of the German Shepherds back when I would see it and I always wondered why they were like that. Thanks for the great information about that!
My mother owned before German shepherds, and also we held other breeds. At the same time at us there lived 4 German shepherds, 2 of them were working type and 2 Germany (show), 1 Caucasian sheep-dog and 1 stafarsher. On my observations of a sheep-dog of working type there were cleverer, strong, a lowered feeling of pain, more massivna. The head of working sheep-dogs are huge, teeth larger than at sheep-dogs of a show type. Also I have noticed that working type more brave, the stafarsher beat with 2 shows of sheep-dogs without problems, but the working ocharka didn't leave any chance to a stafarsher, it is just the car for murder.
Thanks for sharing your great work and view. Here in Northern Europe there is currently hard confrontations in between bredere of showlines and National kennel Associations, who now encourage judges to punish extreme slooping bags as the kennel associations try to compat all tese health issues assosiated with the showlines and consequense damaging the bredes original concept and reputaion. Brgds, Brian, Denmark
German Shepards are probably the only dog that would risk their lives and die for their owners. Pretty much every other dogs flight response would kick in before a Shepards
Everyone’s hating on showlines but have no idea what a stack is and how different stacks and movement can make a “slope back” GSD look like a “straight back” also there’s no such thing as a slope back. Either the dogs back is roached or dipped inward due to bad breeding generally. Show lines are just as good as working lines from a reputable breeder people. Show lines are generally more calm and more of a house pet, working lines are obviously for working and to have a job. I’m actually considering a show line over a working line due to my house size, yard ect. Don’t get a working line dog you can’t handle because someone told you bs because they are biased against show lines.
Emma, You are correct Emma. I had 6 American show line GSD and all were straight back except for 1. The 1 that had the slope was just as good and healthy as the rest of them and all were smart, strong, protective brave dogs. You do not have to get a working line GSD to have a great dog. Working line GSD want to work all the time. Many family GSD are not police dogs that have to go to work everyday. Show lines are great dogs too. The one I have now is all black, longhaired, strong, smart very good natured with everybody and he is huge. He weighs 125 pounds and what a handsome dog. The best looking GSD I ever owned. The dogs in this video look like poodles compared to my Dakota. SHOW LINE A+
@@freddie3206 yep I skipped shepherds lol, here i am a year later with a APBT working mix. Maybe ill get one, one day but APBT is on a whole different level of drive and crazy lol
Hi Emma, what made you go to a pit bull? I like in Massachusetts and I see them on the news quite often because they are attacking people or other dog's.
I love this breeder series where the guys you have so much knowledge on their dogs, their history and even their future. Have you thought about doing something like this for the Rhodesian Ridgebacks or some of the other breeds developed for hunting - weimaraners, vizslas, german shorthaired pointers, etc?
Thanks for watching and your request. Because so many have made request, I now have a Patreon page to help you, help me fulfill your request. Check it out, your support is appreciated... www.patreon.com/dogumentarytv
Lucian9666 There is no Agility involved. You start them very young with drive. Meaning playing tug which is the start of Bite Work. You can even teach them on a Sleeve. You want to see how much of a drive they have. And yes Obedience training. They also need to be trained to Track as that is part of SchH. To compete your dog MUST pass the BH. If not they can't continue.
My boy will 11yrs old at the end of October and still going strong. He is an American Showline, but doesn't have that bad sloping back that a lot of showlines have. That is one thing that people who meet him compliment, his back is straight. German Shepherds are great all around family dogs, as long as you treat them like a family member and not a guard dog who never leaves the yard. A good, well socialised GSD will know the difference between a friend and foe. Also those over 100Ib GSDs, I roll my eyes at and cringe, that is NOT what a good GSD should weigh.
I can not help but LOATHE the "show line" gsd mainly because of the ridiculous "sloped back" bs ...WHY that stays part of the breed standard is beyond me! It makes no sense at all! Reminds me of the other stupid things people do in the name of "looks" like certain asian culture that forces a woman's feet to be tiny, or horses forced to perform painful un natural gaits, or the STUPID idiots (IMHO) that destroy the handling and safety of motor vehicles to make them supposedly LOOK cool...like lowering a car to the extent of having no suspension or ground clearance left! Or on a motorcycle putting "ape hanger" handlebars placing the riders hands and arms in a profoundly uncomfortable position for any length of ride...not to mention how much less control the rider has....how in the world people translate impractical, poorly formed animals or machines to being "cool" or beautiful I just will never ever understand...whatever form results in poor function IS intrinsically UGLY UGLY UGLY to me the moment I understand the deficiency result of the "form" In fact historically "ugly" becomes COOL and beautiful once people catch on to the desirability ...like take military jeep or humvee vehicles or formula 1 race cars ..none of these were designed for looks, they were designed for PERFORMANCE to the be the BEST at their particular job ...once seen in action, seen to be dominantly successful? They BECOME sought after and SO COOL! THAT is the case for the GSD dog also...a breed so successful for the WORK they were designed/bred for...naturally (I think) coming right back into the general form of the WOLF that is so intelligent and successful apex predator ...THOSE functions are what gives these canines their coolness, their beauty ....sticking to BEST of the breed's WORK performance WILL naturally produce the most beautiful COOL looking animals!....however trying to dictate "back slope" WITHOUT the PROOF in SUPERIOR function somehow? WHERE is the beauty in THAT??? Especially considering that the hips are involved and KNOWING that a dog's hips are of HUGE importance in performance and health longevity...of all the things NOT to screw with? Some moron clings to THAT as a "show breed" standard??? A "standard" that typically does NOT manifest in the champion working examples of the breed?? REALLY??? How does this not embarass folks to no end that are involved with the perpetuation of the gsd sloped back?????
My working shepherd is 27 & a half inches from shoulders to ground & is 85 pounds but is under weight & will be at ideal weight when he hits 90-95 pounds.
I applaud you for keeping the GSD alive through correct breeding by focusing more on drive, health and temperament rather than conformation. Captain von Stephanitz would be proud of your efforts.
@zarazoostra I agree the perfect dog has to have good conformation and beautiful physical specimen but at the same time the drive and the genetics to work
Thank goodness for the working lines.
That's right! Idiots in show lines have destroyed the breed... and they didn't do it only with german shepherd, they're doing it to all the breeds

My late uncle in CZ had a GS name Ajax (pronounced eye-ox in Czech). He was an awesome dog.
“He’s bored. He’s going to eat your table”. Too real 😂
Sometimes it's separation anxiety. That is also a potential issue. Forget the table, the couch is more fun to rip apart.
In two months I'm getting a working GSD puppy. Her parents were imported from Germany and are DDR german shepherds. The breeder is amazing and really cares about preserving the breeds original working traits. I'm so excited!
How's it going with your dogs so far
Can you dm me the breeders information?
Need the info!
She's from Weberhaus German Shepherds in Kansas. It's going great she has such a wonderful personality, strong drive and her temperament is solid. She is an angel around children but can play rough with other dogs. She is the best behaved dog I've ever had
@@EST20012 Weberhaus German Shepherds in Kansas
What the AKC is doing to this breed is horrible.
That wasn't an ASL in the picture and the AKC doesn't allow that type of dog to win in the ring.
The dog shown was from crufts and crufts only lets west german showlines(WGSLs) show in their ring.
See Billy Run Germany has been fighting for years to get them to stop calling them German shepherds because of what they have done to them
See Billy Run I wouldn't go that far, but their dogs definitly have no drive at all😂
my question to the AKC is, what is the point of having a "breed" if he can't do what he was "bred" to do??
AGREED
I love me a sable GSD. Such a good coloration.
The One that’s what I have.
I have a German working dog and he's the best dog I've ever had.
I'm loving what you've done with the channel. Keep up the great work. I love to see knowledgeable handlers and working dogs.
I really hate how show lines look. I didn't know working line GSDs existed until a few years ago, and I thought they were the ugliest dogs ever! As soon as I saw a working dog I was stunned!!! So beautiful and handsome in every way
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I have both lines and the show line dog always gets compliments when I take him for walks even now that he’s reaching 10yrs old. My working line one, now at 3yrs old hasn’t got a single compliment.
Julio Reyes can a working line dog be a good family pet?
beenbeen,
Agreed!
Victor Z yes i have working line. And he is good family pet. And more smarter than showline
"He's bored- he's going to eat your table..." Truer words never spoken... 😂
I have 2 German Shepherds and you are a great inspiration to me as far as getting them trained, thank you!
Love the honesty and the professionalism Taylor has. Interesting and informative until the very end.
Loved this! Working line GSD's are really spectacular dogs.
My two GSDs are my entire world. My boy has a HIGH drive and can track and run agility and my girl is so sweet and calm, she is a therapy dog
We’re currently waiting to bring our new working line home soon to add to our family.
all lines of german shepherds have straight backs, including show lines. “straight back” is typically a byb term
"He's bored, he's gonna eat your table" LMAO
PDXDrumr 3juju
true
Most any pup will for that matter. I had a collie pup who ate a hole in the wall.. straight through the drywall.
Mousey runs circles around her and is 3x’s more intelligent.
much respect to the workingline shepherd
My 1 year old GSD is 26" at the withers, 100 lbs, Big boned, Ripped
He will sire AWESOME pups
I also prefer ddr and Czech German shepherds too. I like this man.
Police dogs
the sable GSD finally !!!!! my favorite and the best
my staple breed before moving onto exotics. Awesome breed, great all rounder. Apart from shedding not much maintenance with these dogs.
My gsd is a working line and man he is pure power
Thank you for this clip. Message for ALL: please do not destroy a perfect working class breed! PLEASE i beg you from my heart.
Great information. I have two gsds. Both different personalities, very active.
In this case, who cares whatever the uneducated think. You know better. The working lines are healthier!!!!
I have a massive 71kg working line german shepherd.. i thought they are bigger than show line..
I personally like working lines over show lines, like this guy. A lot of show lines have gone off the deep end and completely screwed up the breed.
Ookami Kage I totally agree. There still are Show line breeders who stick to the standard. I have working line GSDs. I have friends and family members who have Show Lines. They are absalutely beautiful and perfect. That's because the breeders kept them to the exact standard.
I wouldn't say a lot but some have
Mine looks just a bit blonder than Hammer. Absolutely a tank with very much character and very much drive. A beautiful and friendly dog.
I learned a lot on German Shepherds from this video. Great job Zeke!
Thank you working line breeders u are all saints
I just brought home my "Inge" ( Ing-ga) 2 days ago. I did not pick her out of the litter, she picked me. I had my mind set on a male, however Inge and I bonded immediately. Her father was an import from Germany. She is doing great, loves to play. She was recently wormed and given shots (not rabies yet). She had a bit of diarrhea of which has cleared up somewhat. I was terrified it was parvovirus, however no obvious look and smell of that quick killer .She is a working line from both working line parents. Thanks for this video. Very informative
Man knows his stuff, I appreciate that
Thank goodness for the working lines and explaining it so clearly
The eyes of the DDRGSDs are the most beautiful things to look into.
Girls are fantastic! I love mine! Perfect dogs in my opinion.
Honestly I’ve got a great shepherd she’s czheck 100 perecent and has the bark and bite gene I train in German were in Florida I’ve had two years of experience in asl and foreign decent shepherds both pure amazing I learn literally every day there’s no perfect
Words cant describe how great they care !
My GSD is from shelter, she is a happy and amazing puppy.
Love working dogs have a dogo argentino now but any working breed fascinates me the range of things dogs can do.
love german shepherds! ( he looks like a proffesional poker-player )
My gsd's ears are still erstwhile at a year. Incredible herding instinct. He's still growing pretty rapidly, So athletic and very protective.
Great video!! I love this channel!! The video quality is top notch too. Keep the German Shepard videos coming!!
I wouldn’t have any other breed.
thank you Dogumentry TV for this video
I applaud you sir. Keep the working line going
Love this video, tells it like it should be!! Would love to trace these dogs pedigrees to see who they go back to! That's my hobby. Keep up the good work and God bless!
thanks for the teaching on the german shepard dog
Loved the video... as always...thanks Zeke for making these...one of the best channels in my opinion.
Much respect for your philosophy in breeding. IMO, form follows function,
and health and function should be the apex of choices for the fantastic German Shepherd dog.
Maximum respect to hell with that show line crap seeing working Sheppards warm my heart
I'm gonna be get a Germán shepherd and I can't stop research this dog
I so love this... I totally agree with you about these dogs and share your philosophy.
Thank you, this was fantastic.
This is a good video. I love working line GS.
Arguably, the greatest dog breed.
Yes I just realized they're very active
German Shepards are probably the only dog that would risk their lives and die for their owners. Pretty much every other dogs flight response would kick in before a Shepards
I am a really! Very big dog lover and puppy lover forever and ever ❤️❣️💌💟💝💖💗💓🩷💜💚🧡💛🩵💙💕💞🐕🦴
My new dog 2021 after 26 years of Malinois. Ground up training...... in Upland Ca
Awesome video mate! Love the working line.
My family has been preserve this Working line GSP for 30 years and we are against the show line.
Thank you 🙌
Any reputable gsd lover wouldn't be against any line
Hammer is a gorgeous GSD
Not gorgeous than u
Mickey lucky get ignored thirsty pleb 🤣
awesome dogs in this video, Kris is also a wealth of knowledge.
I dont know much about Shepherds, but I've had a Pinscher for 11yrs and hes a true badass..lol...🐕🐕
I love this breeder series where the guys you have so much knowledge on their dogs, their history and even their future. Have you thought about doing something like this for the Rhodesian Ridgebacks or some of the other breeds developed for hunting - weimaraners, vizslas, german shorthaired pointers, etc?
Love everything this guy just said!
PLEASE PLEASE GET SOME VIDEOS FROM OUTSIDE THE US THERE SO MANY GREAT BREEDERS OUT THERE WITH AMAZING DOGS
Thanks for watching and your request. Because so many have made request, I now have a Patreon page to help you, help me fulfill your request. Check it out, your support is appreciated... www.patreon.com/dogumentarytv
Dogumentary TV how do you train your GSD to do that stuff
its not his dog and it takes alot of bonding and obdeience and then from there work on bite work and aglity
The GSD lines that most closely resembled the original GSDs are the west german working lines.
That was always the cool thing about dogs. They can actually hold a job down.
Gordon @ 11:33 is one of the best looking GSDs I've ever seen.
That was a great video...thanks...
