Love your video 🥰 I have to tell you, I was born in 1947, in England. My teen years were in the 60's. Up until I was 18 years old, I only knitted, then I wanted to learn crochet. Sadly, in my family, they only knew how to knit. I managed to teach myself from some women's magazines my grandmother had, but you have to realize, they only showed pictures and diagrams of the hook and the yarn when making the stitches. I didn't have a clue how to hold the yarn or hook, so I improvised. I held the hook in my right hand and also the yarn in the same hand, in other words, I held it like I was knitting. I made it work. I am now 77 years-old and live in the USA, and it makes my heart so happy to see young people like yourself making these video, and you are giving such good advice along the way. I pray God will bless you greatly for the help you are giving others.😘🙏
Had this on my to-crochet list for some time now. But yesterday I got around to buying a beautiful green gradient yarn. Its currently 1:30AM and I should be sleeping but I couldn't stop myself from finally starting this fun project haha. Thank you so much for the video!!
THANK YOU so much for this video! Now I can make a cardigan this way. I've crocheted for 50 years and could never figure out the patterns for this style until your video! So happy! When I make mine I will add onto the sleeves and most likely do cuffs and a collar (ribbing). Thanks!
Ive been crocheting for a while but always too scared to start a project like this, thank you so much for this tutorial!!! i actually understand the hexagon pattern now :)) update: been 2 weeks since I watched this tutorial and I'm working on my 3rd cardigan now!!!
If you add a couple rows to each side at the back before putting it together it will make a neck opening and fit better without the v shape in the back. Love the colors.
This is what I asked about above. Seems like part of the shoulder should have been left open and a nice edge around the front panels and neck would have worked better. I'm not sure since I've never made this. I'm going to invvestigate. Thanks for your post.
You'll see it done this way in other granny square cardigan videos. Easier to fast forward on one of those than to explain in text here.@@shayyke.yodreads
Let me tell you how to avoid the awkward chain 3 and then move on to the next cluster. When you come to that stitch at the end of your row, slip stitch over two times and then slip into the chain space, chain 3 and then do two double crochets in the space below.
Or you could chain5 then move into the next space with a cluster. Continue around and make only 2 DC in last space slip stitch in the third chain of the chain 5 .this should bring you to a space for another cluster.
This tutorial was very easy to follow and the way you explained everything was perfect. I am working on my cardigan and can't wait to see how it comes out. Thank you for the easy instructions and sharing.
after trying like five different tutorials this is by the far clearest and easiest to understand! i’ve already got a good chunk done in like half an hour :)
that sounds amazing! hope u had a happy pride! you inspired me to actually follow the tutorial because i’m impatient but if it only takes a few days… o.0 XD
OMG, i just started back crocheting was trying to decide what to make. this by far was the best to get me started. thank you. Absolutely awesome tutorial .
Thank you so much!! I’ve been knitting for 14 years and never took the time to understand how to crochet but this video is absolutely amazing and helped me so much. I have already made 2 of these and I am currently on my third. I have a feeling I will be making more of these in the future:)
Cant wait to make one, walk into school, and show my art teacher who crochets and knits (also gonna show my little crochet community of crocheters that are crocheting cuz i brought my suplies once)
I don't know if this happened for other lefties but I noticed that the "awkward" rows are the opposite, so instead of them being the even rows, they were the odd rows. Amazing tutorial and super easy to follow!

I FOUND YOU ON TIK TOK AND OMFG. By the way ,I don't know why, but because this pattern is the same one you use to make a granny square but because this time is a hexagon AND IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY BECAUSE I CAN CALL THIS A GRANNY HEXAGON
PSA FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO LINE THE CARDIGAN WITH FABRIC (like me): so idk if anyone is as insane and chaotic as my brain, but i was so determined to line this cardigan with some flannel that i went ahead and BOUGHT the flannel WITHOUT a plan. So, be smarter than me and make up a plan, "But how do i know how to sew fabric onto this thing, theres so many folds and creases and i cant lay it down flat what????" Dont worry my friend i am here to help. SO grab your fabric and your cardigan--- SEW THE TWO SIDES TOGETHER ALREADY BUT *DO NOT* SEW THE SLEEVES-- the sections of the cardigan that are sewn together are basically just big triangles SO cut the fabric into those same size triangles (WITH ROOM FOR STITCHING) and then after those two big bad boys are done being measured and stuff, you move onto the LITTLE triangles, this part can get a little tricky, so what i did was i just copied the measurements of ONE triangle and transferred it to my fabric and then i used my fabric triangle as a ruler for the rest of my triangles (MAKE 👏ROOM 👏FOR👏STITCHING👏) after all your triangles are cut just assemble them and sew them together, you can sew them by machine or by hand (i am unfortunately sewing them by hand because my machine broke and im broke) IF you are sewing them by hand you can do a blanket stitch like me :> or whatever you want... doesnt really matter. OKAY AFTER SEWING YOUR TRIANGLES TOGETHER YOU take your big wad of fabric, you line it up with your cardigan, if it doesnt look right-- iron the fabric IT HELPS. OKAY after lining up the fabric with the cardigan, just pin them together, or use clothes pins-- heck use tape idc just keep it in place. AFTER ALL THAT--- just sew it together, MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO RAW EDGE OF FABRIC DONT BE LAZY (like me) AND FOLD THE SIDES OVER. and then after ALLL that, just sew the sleeves and ur done :> I hope this helped that one specific person, and also dont mind the weird spacing--- im dyslexic and i wanted to make it dyslexia/adhd friendly.
I’m doing one for my granddaughter now with Big Twist Heather in color Denim with a H hook. Slow crocheter but I’ll try to remember to post. Thank you for this
Hey! So one thing that isn’t really clear, is the sizing. I made it to be around 20 rows, but it looks much smaller than I assumed it would be, given yours is oversized and 24 rows. Any details on what to do for larger sizes would be greatly appreciated :)
What size yarn + brand and hook size did you use? Hook size will change the size of the stitches and some brands that are labeled the same size will actually differ in size
I'm just starting out and this is my 1st (if you count my dog then 2nd) peice of clothing. I'm excited to do this and see how it turns out! Your peices look absolutely gorgeous and I inspire to create things like that of an earthy vibe
Thank you, I was able to follow it easily! Only issue is I thought well I don't have a 5m hook but I do have a 4mm one so that should work" ... only to find out this makes my stitches smaller and such makes the sweater smaller and 24 rows is not enough. And now I need to buy more yarn. 😂
@@HannahDrapinski I keep ending up with a bubble on the back side I can’t figure out what I did wrong I have taken it apart so many times but I don’t wanna give up!
love this!! i made this in 4 days in my spare time - I did end up extending the sleeves for myself, but it was so easy to do. thanks for this tutorial!!
The beginning of the Cardigan explanation was wonderful. When it came to attaching the two sides, it was when it went downhill. At 22:50, it was connected with one side inside out and one not (can tell by the loose ends). So I sewed the back parts together as shown and described. She then reverses them again to join the top of the sleeve. However, when the sleeve is reversed the sides don't match and one half of the Cardigan opens to the front and the other half opens to the back. When the unsewn sleeve was reversed it was taken off screen and then put back on screen, not showing what happened. So now I spent DAYS crocheting the two hexagons only to have my cardigan extraordinarily messed up. Wish I could post a picture to explain my problem. Use this tutorial for making the Hexagon.... use a different tutorial to connect the hexagon.
This was an amazing tutorial! Great pace and great verbal instructions:) your voice is so calm and clear it’s nice to listen too! Also you seem like a great mom, I can’t wait till I can make things for my kids too ❤️
Thank you. This is so cute. I hope your daughter loved it! What do you think about adding length? Would you do that at the end or before you complete the hexagons?
first of all, best cardigan tutorial I’ve ever seen. so clear and instructions were great. Haven’t started mine yet, but when I do, it’s going to be awesome! Although I did have a question how does the sizing work? Can you keep adding rows depending on how big you want it?
Made mine! Of course ran out of the yarn I started with only to find out it was discontinued but I was half done so I used something else and it's still cute! Thank you for the tutorial I hope to make many more !
This was so easy to follow. Thank you so much! I really want to figure out how to add a hood to it because I want the big slouchy hood that would be so cute.
I'm going to make it soon! your voice is very pleasant to listen to. thank you for this tutorial! however, can you please tell me how thick the yarn are needed?
Thank you, Hannah for this beautiful cardigan, I've been looking for a suitable hexagon cardigan tutorial for like forever. I can't wait to try this, cardigan and many thanks for the inspiration and well explained tutorial 😊😊. I'm not sure about sizing though will check video again. Following you on Instagram.
I just finished with my first cardigan. Thank you so much. May I know how many rounds did you make for the one you’ve wearing in the end of this video. Because 24 round is not oversized.

I’m getting my yarn together and will be starting my cardigan in a few days. What brand of yarn and what colors are the skeins? I would love to make one just like your daughters. I absolutely love those colors together!

Hi! I saw no one had responded yet and I thought I'd leave one to tell you where I'm at so far.. I have used two skeins (142 g for one) I haven't started my other side yet but I am going to hope it uses the same amount. Hope this helps!!
Amazing!!!!!! CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH for how easy its been to follow along with you.... one question can i use chunky yarn on this pattern for my next one
Guess who started with 5 corners, finished one yarn already. almost have the one as big as her daughter's cardigan. AND realized it's not supposed to be 5 but 6 😭 anyways practice makes perfect
Something I would have done is slip stitch to the corner chain to do the corner clusters there. It's actually how many book patterns have said to do it. Your way is a touch confusing to me, so I'm trying it the way I know. It should come out the same. This is my first time making one (I suck at sweaters and they are in huge demand in cold New England) so let's see if it's larger than a hand puppet but smaller than a bull elephant

I imagine so, and it'll build up quicker. I'm planning on tackling this at some point and I'm thinking of using a chunkier yarn
Thank you your a great instructor. The best
Making this right now and it is so easy to make for as a beginner
Soo beautiful, can I ask how long mum's cardigan is? Thank you😍
This is so helpful thank you so much for sharing!
I wanna make it in mohair yarn so I can wear it in the summer 😍 thank you so much for the tutorial ❤❤❤
Your Little girl is so cute in that cardigan❤
This tutorial was amazing thank you
Guess who started with 5 corners, finished one yarn already. almost have the one as big as her daughter's cardigan.
I’m just curious about how much yarn you use for this whole pattern? Or if anyone has done the pattern how much yarn did you use?
Wish me luck. I'll be attempting to do my first hexagon cardigan😬👍🏻
