- We're back at it again! In this video, you will follow me and get a sneak peak behind the scenes an actual broadcast of a high school basketball game. This is the second time I've done a video like this, but I wanted to show you some of the changes we've made to help simplify the setup. Also in this video I showcase what I'm calling out Arke 1 HD production unit. It has a touch screen interface for switching the show!

It’s amazing that you are bringing this level of production profitably to HS basketball. 😮
Very well engineered. It's amazing what we can do with the Ross platform. The Graphite is a game changer and we love it as well. It's great to see how you are integrating View Control and AFV to minimize the crew needs and setup. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this one. Stay focused and zero glitches to your gear ;)
The comeback we all needed!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Hell yeah more Content!
glad to see you guys back!
Woah, back on an early sunday with day light savings time shift! Glad to see you back and good stuff!
If you are only using Companion to fire your HyperDeck without feedback (looks like your TD can see the device front panel for status?), you can skip that and use RossTalk to directly send the commands to the HyperDeck from your Graphite/Carbonite. That lets you use standard CC macros to record/stop your HyperDeck directly from View Control.

Interesting to hear that View Control works well for this type of switching.
We've found that audio mixing via touch never works well because you have to take your eyes off the talent or video monitor to look at the controls on the screen to make adjustments. Like having to look at your shifter every time you want to change gears when driving, or your pedals every time you want to accelerate or brake.
But your audio appears formulaic enough in this show that there isn't a lot of responsive riding of levels?
And I guess with View Control you are seeing the sources on the monitor as you look at the buttons to tap? Without the monitor integrated into the buttons, we know that using the DashBoard soft-panel is also very laggy as the operator has to look away from the traditional monitor down at their hands. I actually prefer to use a mouse (or actually a trackball) on soft panels so I can position the mouse, and then watch the monitor for timing as I click without looking at my hand.
We use a similar setup and we did a GPO split box for the tally, so we can have 7 camera on a single network cable and distance isnt a problem since we inject power on set.
Love this!
A tally system with can listen to the TSL from your switcher can greatly improve the responsiveness of your operators.
Lots of options there. For a similar situation, we may made our own camera mount units that directly listen to TSL from our switcher via WiFi.
We also have a custom little arduino that translates TSL from our Carbonite into GPI for our Panasonic IP ROP/CCU shading panels for forwarding to the camera over IP. That's something that's simplest to do via the Skaarhoj GPI Link unit.
I love your videos and thanks for sharing.
Touchscreens looks super cool and the clients love it but really dont work for me in live sittuations.
there is no space to rest the hand and it force you to be tense hours....
after some minutes you feel the stress in arms and back.
I preffer a button panel and real faders and knobs to trigger macros and actions ... In music, video, animation or lights the touchscreens functions bring stress and work for the arms and hands...
I used the touch control surfaces just for "show-off" but during the event I move to only physical buttons, faders and knobs in my fingers...
Its like trying to play piano concert using an iPad... Not for me.
Love the upload. What are you using for the multiplexer? Bonus points for link :)
Would be great to know too, is it from Thor?
Hi guys!
Mine are actually custom made boxes by a company overseas. I bought them second hand from the guy who actually had them built for a project he was doing, but never came to fruition.
Thor does make good ones though, as well as some other popular vendors. I have some Thors that I use in other applications as well.
What is the make and model of your SDI to Fiber converter? I work in a high school and I am looking at doing something similar.
What is the make and model of the fiber fdm? I've been looking for something like this for a while.

@@BroadcastBuddyTV Thank you!
More…More…More…Pretty Please?
I spotted Upper St. Clair & Mt. Lebanon on that scoreboard... Are you in the same area as youtube.com/@JRMVideo?
Hi!
Yes, we both do games in that market :)
@@BroadcastBuddyTV Nice to see! I've followed both them and you for a while, working on building up my own production company.
Ergonomically touch screens are not ideal at all. Honestly it's a lot of cool equipment but we are doing the same level of production with 6 cameras, vMix on a laptop and a small support rack. Multi-cam replay, graphics, audio and live-to-TV all included. I also switched from Scorelink to Scoreboard-OCR. It's a lot easier to set up.
Orc over directly from the source is crazy
