This did help! I have the 40 and love its character. It's been almost exclusively on my camera body for last year. However, my house is a little tight, so I need something with a wider field of view in order to create the stories with my photos that i'm desiring. It was great seeing the two side by side. Now that I know the thirty-five has the exact same character.I will definitely be buying it. Thank you
after comparing it to a dozen other 35mm lenses i have to say the best value two lenses out there for 35mm are nokton and ultron 35 . ultron is more clinical but lacks the 1.4 and nokton is a bit more classical but i love it. I kept the 40mm to use on an anamorphic lens setup and 35mm for daily use on one of my bodies. definitely a good choice.
you are very welcome. I also realized later on that the nokton 35 has that circular flare that people might like. If you shoot digital you might want to consider the 35mm but if you shoot analog I would like to avoid that flare. I love both lenses but the 40mm delivers a more consistent image especially because I shoot film. Sharpness is the same, maybe the 40mm is bit better, body size/weight the 35mm is better.
