Thanks for demo..I sold my HD -28 last year as was just uncomfortable to sit and play...went to local music store and played a ooo-28... beautiful..but not loud bright sound I was searching for...two weeks ago purchased a OM-28 and love it... comfortable and perfect fit.. body size and sounds amazing 🤩

I feel like the OM has a more powerful, beefier sound especially in the mids, however, the 000 shape just sounds more clear balanced to me as if no frequency is overpowering the other

Good observations Giorgio, I would agree. Thanks for watching.

I love Martins 000s. Especially on rosewood because you get that bass that's just enough. So it's not bass light but still even sounding

Do you prefer one guitar over the other? I have a 00028 and am left handed, plus I live in an area where I have no opportunity to even try an OM28 unless I actually order one, so I am curious if you have a favourite? I really love my 00028, but am still curious about the OM28. Do I need both? LOL

Good question. I prefer the comfort of the little bit shorter and little bit easier fingering of the 000 short scale, but because I generally want the more volume and power of the longer scale I often lean towards that. So it just depends on the feel and sound you are after. Also it varies from guitar to guitar. Some 000's are more powerful than some OM's. Also you can compensate either to achieve what you want, by your choice of strings, for more or less punch etc.
So I would say if you like your 000, no you don't need an OM. But if you are not getting what you want from it, or you are like me and just want to try everything 😁, then you might try an OM. I too live in an area with no access to a large selection of good guitars, so I buy and sell used on Reverb. Good luck, enjoy what you have, happy pickin'!

Was the tension on the shorter scale noticeable or less?

I see you did address this, thanks.

Yes less string tension on the short scale is noticeable, both in feel and sound. More comfortable and easy, with a mellower sound. Thanks for watching.

If I could Buy one, I would have to go for the OM. Yes, the OM is my choice of the two. Good video here.

There are two important differences that you missed in your description. The OM has 1/4'' bracing, compared to 5/16'' for the 000.
Also, the OM bracing is shifted slightly more forward.

Hey Mr. Wonka, sorry I didn't make that clear, but I figured most people know that the OM has the small teardrop pickguard, and the 000 has the larger standard pickguard.

@@toddvossmusic7833 did not know that. Trying to learn about scale length and how it affects the tone. Thanks for the clarification. Nice guitars your lucky to have both of them.

I enjoyed the video comparison. It would have been helpful to point out the differences in the pick guards for each model at the beginning of the video. I am not a Martin expert and could not keep track of which one you were playing.
