    The bracing difference will have just as much impact as the scale. The 1/4” bracing on the OM makes it just as different as the d-28 vs d-35. 000 has 5/16” bracing. Scale length is an additional difference, but the bracing is arguably the main one as far as tone.

      @@juana1483 Definitely easier than the dreadnaught I was using! I had to wait months for the store to have the OM-28 and the 000-28 at the same time, so I could do a proper side-by-side comparison. As I recall, the length difference was barely noticeable. But something about the 000 spoke to me more, and I'm a strummer, not a fingerstyle guy.

    Although the OM has more bite to it coz of the projection, the 000 is more pronounced in every tune.. more clarity in other word..

      @@Britalex not true sir, the OM has a longer scale length which results in more string tension. This results in more projection and a better strummer. The 000 has a short scale which decreases the tension and the space between frets, optimal for fingerstyle.

    Hey, it's Corey!!! 1st impression OM shines for strumming & 000 is more focused fingerstyle. OM finger style is more spread out. 000 finger extenuates the top notes with more of a clear ring. Interesting looks like they are both 14 fret so the shorter scale of the 000 would put the bridge higher up closer to the sound hole dampening some of the resonance that is if the length of the bodies were the same...Most short scales I've seen are with the 12 fret at the body so this is interesting...

    I think I’m just gonna have to play it. I can’t quite get a good feel for the differences watching somebody else play it on a RUclips video and listening to it on my phone. Just not the same. I need to hold it, feel the vibrations around my body, feel the strings under my fingers and the neck in my hand. I really don’t see how anyone can possibly get enough of the idea of the sound of an instrument on a RUclips video and on a handheld device. Sure, it’s very pleasurable sound to hear but, for buying it? Maybe if I use some earbuds. Even then, how do you know it’s not a recording trick? Just my thoughts.

    • @matthewrammig
      @matthewrammig 4 года назад +2

      Well go into a store and try to find them both. Good luck. You don’t just find these high end Martins laying around your local Guitar Center getting whaled on in drop d by a bunch of 9th graders.
      You watch these video to get a sense of which direction you want to go in, order the guitar, pay for it, then determine if it’s the right fit and whether you’ll keep it or not.

    • @daverenick5830
      @daverenick5830 2 года назад

      @@matthewrammig yeah. It's like shoes. You can't get 'em online. Guitars are intimate objects that demand up close personal attention. The same model is different from guitar to guitar. I just got another Martin and went for the 000-28 instead of some others I thought sounded better because the neck is so unusually fast and easy for an acoustic. I will say this though.....Corey doesn't have a mic rammed up right in front of the sound hole, which most demos do, because of course they digitally add stuff, a little reverb here, a little treble there......and since I own one, I can say he has the integrity to present a pretty accurate idea of reality. That said, I agree with your previous reply. There is NO WAY unless you try several that are in your hands, no way at all. Once I bought what looked perfect online, some expensive vintage thing, and yeah, when it came it was 70 years old and looked almost mint, but it just didn't sound anywhere near as good as it looked and I ended up selling it. Due diligence is vital, especially in our bloated hyperinflated insanely pricey market, or you will regret it because the physics of money is to rip us all off one way or another, this whole place is founded on theft. You can ONLY trust your own ears and hands in this particular area.

      You’re supposed to play right behind the edge of the soundhole so that the mic can pick up the majority of the sound spectrum of the guitars, if you block the soundhole, you’re blocking what the mic can pick up

    • @YourFavouriteColor
      @YourFavouriteColor 4 года назад +1

      @@onixtheone dead wrong. it is a misconception that the soundhole is responsible for the sound that comes OUT of the guitar. Rather, the soundhole is responsible for the primary vibration of the strings going IN to the guitar. The soundhole is like a giant pickup. The strings vibrate, the primary vibration shoots into the soundhole, then the sound bounces around and is colored by the back and sides/reverberates through the neck wood etc, then the TOP vibrates, just like a speaker cone, which is where your actual sound comes from.
      It's actually very bad to mic the soundhole of an acoustic. you get nothing but mud. You want to mic the 12th fret, the upper bout on the treble side, and maybe double mic at the butt or the bridge for some added treble or bass.
      This dude plays too close to the bridge. It sounds like a farting piezo electric acoustic. Defeats the purpose of an acoustic because he is restricting the movement of the strings.
