Rebuilding The American Hotel Has Begun!

- The day is finally here! Almost on year to the date after losing the American Hotel, construction has begun again. This was my most exciting days at Cerro Gordo yet. After months of trying to figure out how to get concrete here, Heavy D Sparks came through with his crew and made it happen! We had a great week getting the site ready, sneaking in some mine explorations, and a lot more!

Thank you so much to all the volunteers who came out to help Cerro Gordo and make this happen. It's amazing to think this channel is helping rebuild this town. I truly appreciate every person who has come out, watched a video, and in all ways supported this town.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! This is the beginning of a new chapter at Cerro Gordo!
Our week at Cerro Gordo was hands down one of the best weeks of my life. The magic in that town is palpable and there’s no better person in this world to care for that town than Brent 💯💯
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for your help in bringing it back to life!!
The original American Hotel burning down was tragic but opened the door for both yourself HeavyD and Brent to both be written into Cerro Gordo’s history
Subbed bruther
Great job helping out it definitely wouldn’t have happened without you
He keeps talking about the history of the place not realizing he, himself, will go down in the history books for this
I am thinking the same. I hope that Brent will have it
Yep my thoughts exactly!
Definitely entered my thoughts only his contributions will be so much better on record than any caretaker of the past via hours of video and 1 million viewers memories as well.
well only time will tell if he will
I think he knows it. It's probably one of the main reasons he even makes these videos.
Brent, I'm in love with your channel. I'm 73 and on Hospice at Home and on oxygen and your Videos Pass my days with PASSION AND ENJOYMENT. I PRETTY MUCH SIT and Watch All Day. EVERY DAY. Darryl
Hoping you are still alive Darryl :) please respond if you see this!
The hotel was built on June 15th, burned down on June 15th, and the reconstruction has started on June 15th. This would make an incredible story or movie. History is incredible.
wow
It already is
My brother in heaven would be so happy his birthday is June 15 🥰 this is an awesome thing your doing man!
How did the hotel burn down?
Yeah! How did the Hotel burn down?
Brent, I noticed there wasn’t a single Ad during this video. I think I speak for the majority when I say I’m totally cool with watching a few 30 seconds clips if it helps you and Cerro Gordo. You are doing an incredible job, always look forward to your content!!
For the amount of views this video has, the ads are few and far between. I almost wish it had more if it helps Belrent out !
Couldn't agree more. That's why I support his Patreon: www.patreon.com/ghosttownliving
Are you sure you don't have an ad blocker? I got ad's from this video
Speak for yourself 😆
cerro gordo is a massive corporate venture. Brent is just the front man, the company representative. Dont be so easily fooled.
A “Heavy D Brent” cocktail recipe has to be created & served at the Hotel Bar to pay homage to whole project!!
Should invite some reenactors to bring back the life of the past
Oh yeah! 🍸
Knightmare50, yea! Like some of the towns more colorful characters “come to life” on a little stage / some kind of fundraising could happen/ like a live feed fundraiser or the like
thats a great idea you got
Dusting of cinnamon on the rim I hope?
As a viewer from the other side of the world, I hope to visit Cerro Gordo one day and meet Brent and sleep at The American Hotel
Thank you Bret for the inspiration you gave us since you started with you videos 15 months ago, we(my wife, younger son and I) started a project in the mountains of Baja California, The rebuilding of a ranch, the Coyote Blues Ranch, transformed and old bar and corral into a western type cantina, and old adobe shed into a work shop, a stone abandoned shack into a nice guest room, instaled a Windseeker and solar paneles, painted and laid concrete as needed, run water pipes and eléctrical wiring, clean and clean lots of wild brush..
we encountered heavy rains, snow, great, wind, wild fires and plácid nigths... Made over 100 trips from desert land to mountain levels and still going, much of your philosophy is taken as an input to keep going on our project as well...
The pandemia was not as bad for as as for others, being away from crowds was a relief up in our place
Muchas gracias for all amigo.
Brent is Looking More and More like an Old Time Miner..
He needs 3 square meals a day. He is TOO SKINNY!
He must be bald because he never takes his hat off on videos.
He’s beautiful
Like the gold in the tunnels, it’s what’s on the inside that counts!

I had the honor of helping restore Los Encinos Historical State Park original rancho damaged by the Northridge earthquake. I also had the opportunity of helping restore the exterior of the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood and would love to come help you! I love your passion Brent! The Mine is great. I am glad Dave shares your excitement. Glad your concrete pour went well after all the efforts put into it!
I hope to see you on future videos helping out!! You are the missing link 🔗 would love to see you there!!

I am 66 years old, I would love to come help but physically can't do it anymore. I have camp cooked for crews, I also quilt & crochet and knit, I'd love to make patchwork quilts, afghans, etc like they had in those days for when the hotel opens.
@@lorelebeverland5585 Awesome!
sounds like you would be a great asset. !
When Brent speaks about people that are genuine and honest and generous, he doesn't realise that he attracts these people because it is so easy to believe in him and what he wants to do. He IS Cerro Gordo. To see someone like Dave, who shares so much excitement and energy as Brent for this place was an absolute joy.
Like attracts like, and Brent himself is a living embodiment of those same traits, so it naturally follows that others who share the same traits will be drawn to help him out.
Indeed.
I have been watching you since the beginning, and I've been waiting for the cement to get delivered. I'm a grandmother and not sure why I got hooked on this. I'm sure your passion is part of the reason. I do have to say I have been concerned about all the projects you have told us about and how you were going to do all of them basically alone. I recently tuned into your channel and saw how much weight you have lost. I am so glad you are getting all this support. You have some valuable guys there. You deserve it. But just remember your health is number one and the American Hotel and the town of Cerro Gordo are number two.
It is hard not to get swept up when someone is this positive and energetic about anything!
I noticed the same thing Brent! You need to take care of yourself as well! I truly wish I could come help if I was closer! Perhaps once the Hotel is up, people can come stay and help!!!
Awesome job you and several others have been doing! I keep looking out for new vids .
I know it's seems so weird. But this channel has been such a boost to my mental health. Just watching someone pursue their passion, tied in with nature and history, and to show such love and appreciation for it; it's just so wholesome. It's made me seek out my own moments of awe in nature. To explore, adventure.
Seeing you finally get the American Hotel underway actually brought a tear to my eye as silly as that sounds. Someday I hope I can visit!
Same here!
Thats the feeling Brent brings us. His passion is contagious!
My friend and I are planning g on visiting 2 yrs from now, hope it's open!
Me too! Amazing, isn't it? Love the impact of Brent's life work on others!
Brent's vids make me smile and bring so much joy my eyes leak tears of happiness :)
Brent, in a way you're the Mr. Rogers of RUclips! You have such a genuine, earnest love of your project it's contagious! You've gone through hardship and stress and yet your nature is ever loveable and inspiring while remaining relatable. You teach self-motivation, self-sufficiency, love of nature, appreciation of history, while also celebrating the power of friendship and cooperation. You embody the purity of the American Dream. All my love and admiration, PLEASE keep it up!!!
Wow, thank you! That is high praise. I really appreciate that. I'll keep going!
Been keeping up from the Philippines, this gives my hopeless depressed life a little light. Go for your dreams! Someday I will stay at the American Hotel in God's will. 🇵🇭
Hang in there Qhuiz!! May the Peace of the Lord be upon you, your home and your family!!!
Keep your chin up. These are tough times no doubt. You are never alone trust in God.

There are a couple of companies out there that make drones that map mines with LIDAR.
Ring 'em up and ask if they'd like some free testing grounds in exchange for a copy of any maps they make.
@Captain I mean, why though? There's no shame in providing companies use of space in exchange for a product? The barter system like that existed for thousands of years, not everything needs to be done with cash.
@Captain Testing in real life is worth more than the money almost. being able to test in various environments, types of mines and materials.
He also has old maps and info on some of these mines so their is also reference data to compare acuracy etc.
I just got done with the book and had to come back here to watch the video. There’s a lot of good nuggets in the book that I will use in my life, as I am going thru some heavy changes right now. One day I will visit Cerro Gordo and hopefully stay in one of the rooms and enjoy the view!

Can you please go visit?! The way he walks through some of these mines TERRIFIES me. All I can think of is you every single time I watch a video. You’d be able to tell him which shafts were safe and how to repair the ones that aren’t. I’m horrified at the idea that he might make a fatal mistake.
@@aliciakelly5320 it's scares me to but he's a smart guy who knows what he's doing I think it'll be ok

Hey, here's an idea: For the remaining original structures, because they're mostly made of wood, try to treat them with some fire retardant. Also, have a fire truck on standby. Maybe one of those old ones that's been restored.
Brent, I don't know what is possessing you, but I think your enthusiasm and perseverance is infectious. I do believe you are going to will this town into existence again.

'That Guy' got me from the 1st episode, so long ago. I was on the edge my seat with the cave expeditions! I actually felt sick watching but had to see it until the end.

I hope that every year after the hotel is rebuilt you have a massive festival on June 15th to celebrate Cerro Gordo and not just the history that was there but the history that there has yet to be made. "The New American Festival". I have a feeling it wont be a ghost town for long. This channel is reviving life in Cerro Gordo from goats, to cats, llamas, and soon more and more friends and families will want to visit and stay here. Keep up all that you are doing and you might have to change the name of this channel to just Living.
Great idea!! Cerro Gordo festival every June 15th or weekend around it! Great idea Thomas!
Wonder how long u would have to wait before a ghost town ain’t a ghost town no more.
i hope it always remains a GHOST TOWN !!! and that feel and everything about it... just a POPULATED GHOST TOWN!!! :) where people dance with the spirts and party with the ghosts!!! :) eh... it's all good! :) AS LONG AS EVERYTHING DOING GOOD!! :)
Jonathan soko how do ya think it’s a scam? He’s rebuilt a few other buildings. If heavy d didn’t help he would have spent a small fortune just to get concrete poured which he’s been working on for months. It will get rebuilt and you’ll eat your words watch.
Brent what'd you think ? Cerro Gordo festival ?
I remember when the fire happened and sobbed with you. You couldn't even speak to the camera. It was heartbreaking to hear you explain how the fire happened. I thought that would have extinguished your flame from wanting to restore Cerro Gordo. Take a look and here we are. Congratulations. There is amazing working being done on camera but the real work is being done off camera. The little moments of victory are the ones that mean the most. This rebuild is one of those moments. Glad that I got to be a part of this. Keep up the hard work.
Congratulations on getting the foundation done a great foundation to build a dream on cheers from Melbourne Australia

This is really special. My great-great grandparents, great-grandparents, and grandma traveled around mining in towns like this throughout Arizona and New Mexico. My father even was a miner until his retirement. I think it's awesome that you're restoring and sharing this history. I know it wasn't an easy life for these people.
Everyone involved in this project is a beautiful person with a beautiful soul.
And just that right level of crazy. :)

Watching Diesel Dave, in their old TV show, you thought of him as just being another pretty face, but the dude WORKS! 😆
Thank God you and your team made it, and I'm so happy for you, Brent!
The amount of physical labor to carve those tunnels is unfathomable.
This is exactly what I've been thinking too. The map that Brent has, all probably hasn't been accessed yet and thered be so much more that was never recorded. I truly wish this town becomes an 1850s style revived tourist attraction and may those mines be made safe enough for tourists to go in and explore.
It makes you realize just how easy we have it nowadays! The amount of blood and sweat that was required before modern machinery made people true men, that's for sure.
I was thinking that, also. How many men, how many hours, and how much was dynamited? The amount of labor is staggering.✌🏻🐱

Trails? Library? Bathroom/showers? A smallish store? A book with pictures 📷 of the old timers and the newbies?

So glad you and Heavy D teamed up. You should really follow his advice and get a 5 ton for the town. Maybe outfit it with a water tote or 2 and a pump in case of fire? Im sure Dave would be able to find one and look it over for you at his shop before you bring it to the town.
something tells me one is already on its way there. heavy D will make sure of that. along with a few other things. lol
YES!! im happy for u man! ima gave to come back!! hahah
One of the best crossovers was when you went there, I would love to see you go back there one day :)
Brent, this is coming from a person who cares. Please make sure to eat and look after your health. You are very active and are always doing lots of physical labor. Stay safe and I love you channel. Cheers from Chicago.
This is one of the best RUclips collaborations ever
Very soon now the word "Ghost" will be history. Cerro Gordo, population 1.
I think calling it a "ghost town" is important. It really shows the hard work that was put into restoring a once lost and forgotten mining town.
@@jacobcochran4855 the original owners are still there and will be long after were all gone brent has seen them himself. I hope it stays cerro gordo ghost town
then he'd just be "town living"
@@natalieg90 what do you mean? Are you talking about like the graves of the town founders or do you mean the people he purchased the town from?
@@Saphire_Throated_Carpenter_Antoriginal town founders. the miners lost on the 200 level. all those murdered in cerro Gordo. The ppl he buy it off are still live and kicking. Would be good to see the ghost adventures crew revisit
I didn't cry, you cried. So so happy for you Brent!
It makes my heart smile, that so many beautiful people, care so much, all for such a beautiful thing, all in such a beautiful place as Cerro Gordo 😊
