- This is part of my conversation with Burton Cummings, of THE GUESS WHO and my comments about the news of Burton Cummings suing Gary Peterson and Jim Kale.
From Rolling Stone April 30, 2024.
Burton Cummings, a co-founder of the Guess Who, canceled his performance license agreements for the band's songs he wrote, including "American Woman" and "These Eyes". This action removes copyright protections, preventing the current Guess Who from performing the band's hits. Cummings has said that the band will be sued each time they perform a song he wrote, and that he's willing to do anything to stop the current band because they're "taking [Randy Bachman's and my] life story and pretending it's theirs"
Mr. Handalman we miss hearing from you.
Please produce more videos.
I will Christopher. Thank you!!
Burton is like Gordon Lightfoot, a Canadian treasure. Nice insightful interview. Still missing the old show, Henry Diltz, W. Cooper, S. Friedman were never miss shows.👍
Thank you for being there.
Guess Who such a great band. Love your interviews Allan.
Love you and your in depth interviews!!!
Thank you!!
Burton Cummings greatest singer that has EVER lived !!!
I agree.
Loved Burton and his music in the movie Melanie!
Burton Cummings was in the movie, Melanie with Glynnis O’Connor, Paul Sorvino and Don Johnson.
Thank you for turning me on to Friends of Mine. There's nothing wrong with emulation.
I'm glad you got to hear Friends Of Mine.
Why did they edit out the story about Jim Morrison?
Always like the Guess Who. Sounds like this interview soon after 9/11?
Yes. Just a few days.
Just as a clarification. Burton owns the entire GW catalogue from 66 - 75 and not just the songs he wrote/co-wrote. The cover band cannot play any of the songs regardless of who wrote them. Just clarifying the comment from Rolling Stone.
Thank you for the clarification.
• to bad he didn’t talk about the hit and run he was involved in.
