Your ride home reminded me of my time in the Army when I rode an RD250 from Colorado Springs to Houston, nearly 1,000 miles. The wind was so strong from Wichita Falls to DFW, that I had to ride with the bike at an angle to keep it going straight.

Very cool I took a trip over Skyline Dr. when visiting my sons in NC. I stayed in Luray for the night then went to Naturel Bridge the next day. Nice little hike. Then I went to Pink Cadillac for lunch. cool place. Unfortunately I was in my car. Next trip will be on my 1100T.
there are casinos on the northern border of Texas in Oklahoma and there is a casino in Hobbs, right on the New Mexico/Texas border. I'm surprised Texas hasn't legalized it either consider we have the lotto and raffles etc. On another note, that seems like a long ride on the Rebel. So on a random watch video, this has been a good little video series. This shouldbshow you can tour on anything, i toured on my dyna for 6 years, until i recently upgraded to a roadglide. But you can tour on anything. And side note, i orderes one of those rearciew mirrors you have mounted on your windsheild there i thought that was just a cool addition. I had never saw one of them before. Safe travels sir, and great content.
Unbelievable now that is hard riding--not judging but not something I would attempt at those speeds and distance. Too many things could go wrong and my attention to detail would not be at it's best. I'm glad you made it home without incident.

I did see a vlog recently where you said you had installed some driving lights and showed the difference but I cannot find the vlog now. I’m also interested in what new tyres you will get for the 1100 as I agree with you, the Dunlops do feel slippery on turns. Thanks again for all the info and experiences you share. I'm still shopping for the right size/shape crash guard, so I can mount a set of driving lights and highway pegs (folding footpegs). Yeah, the Rebel was averaging in the high 50's (57-58 mpg) through most of those national park roads. That stretch was split between two tanks of fuel with fast sections on each end, so I didn't get an accurate calculation for that slower section aloone. Hay Quassi, Danial Hays has a meet and greet (Million Dollar Bogan) on the 15th Jan in Geelong which includes the "bob Head Boys from the UK (Geelong is in Victoria). I am in North Queensland so a 2300 kilometers (google maps) one way ride - I have same bikes as you do, a CB500X and a CMX 1100, so my Q is...? leave on the 12th and return on the 18th for a 4 hour bike meet - Would you go, knowing its hot and summer here and in the north start of Wet season...asking for a friend...??
Well, you've seen my crazy ride videos, so my answer would be "ABSOLUTELY!" I don't approach those meet-up rides as just a ride to the destination; rather, the adventure of getting there adds to the experience. The event duration might be short, but meeting other like-minded people is worth the effort, in my opinion. I'm not familiar with the roads in Australia. Do you have fast, smooth highways for most of the distance? If the event isn't bike-specific, then I'd vote for the CB500X to have a more comfortable trip. The Rebel 1100 is worse in nearly every category compared to the CB500X for long trips... lower fuel economy, shorter fuel range, worse ergonomics, etc. Good luck to you (or your friend) on the trip! But we have Nazi fixed speed cameras - Average time cameras - mobile speed cameras - Candy cars, so 100 k/ph (60mph) is our speed limit (some sections are 110 (66)) Happy new year also....
I've seen the new 2023 Honda Rebel 1100T, but I'm a bit underwhelmed. I think that Honda could (should) have increased the fuel tank by 1.0-1.5 gallons, upgraded the rear shocks, and given the "Tour" model some highway pegs or forward pegs to let the rider stretch out their legs. Those are the major complaints and shortcomings that nearly all Rebel 1100 owners mention, and NONE of them were addressed with the "Tour" model. Overall, I'm satisfied with my Rebel 1100 DCT after the minor upgrades that I've added. The Daytona Blast Barrier windscreen, the Honda/SW-Motech panniers and mounts, and the rear solo rack have transformed the Rebel into a decent long-haul tourer for my needs. I will probably upgrade the rear suspension eventually, and I still want to add a crash bar to give me a place to mount highway pegs and driving lights. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
The bar-end mirrors are the CRG Hindsight LaneSplitter mirrors. You can see the installation video here: ruclips.net/video/U7Bggy5diaM/видео.html . Product links for the CRG mirrors and bar-end adapters are in that video's description. The center mirror is the RiderScan Blindspot Mirror: amzn.to/3nJjXLp . It really helps situational awareness in traffic. There is a learning curve to using it properly because the image is distorted by the mirror's convex shape, but it becomes second nature after a few hours of riding. It's very rare for me to be caught off-guard with a cager hiding in my blind spot while I'm riding with one of these mirrors. The Rebel 1100 isn't an ideal long-distance touring machine. The lack of forward wind protection and the seating position can be tiring. The Rebel's tank and the engine case are wide, so that forces the rider's knees outward into the wind. My hip flexors and groin muscles took a beating with the long hours on the highway. Otherwise, the Rebel is decent for highway trips if you can manage the duration to stay within your comfort zone. I'm a diehard rider with buns of steel, so I can subject myself to just about any kind of two-wheeled torture for 16+ hours/day ( for example: ruclips.net/video/QcF8qkJlL3c/видео.html ). Yessir! I rode down the Shenandoah Skyway in the previous video ( ruclips.net/video/FYFcDs-90iU/видео.html ), and then stealth camped at the north end of the Blue Ridge overnight. That was a fantastic trip with absolutely perfect weather, and my timing was perfect to see all the trees changing colors. 😉👍 --QM
The Rebel 1100 and the Vulcan 900 have similar physical sizes and weights, but the Rebel gives a decidedly more "sporty" riding experience. The Vulcan has more legroom because of its forward controls and is more laid-back with its taller/wider handlebars. The Rebel 1100's mid-controls are higher and closer to the rider, so that can feel a bit cramped for taller riders. The Rebel's handlebars are lower, narrower, and set forward to create a sportier riding position. This "tighter" rider triangle might not appeal to some riders, so it's best to sit on one (or take an extended test ride, if possible) before buying the Rebel. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Yeah, I know the feeling. I have the AirHawk Cruiser Large seat pad ( amzn.to/3Ll1Dod ) on my factory seat to help reduce the pressure points. I can usually go 6-8 hours before I need a butt break. Stopping to refuel every 1.5-2 hours usually gives me enough of a leg stretcher to keep going. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
