only thing worse that flowtite is flowtite on cpvc LOL thats the one place that i like a shark bite because I treat cpvc like its glass but this method of removing the old stop looks good
EXCELLENT TIP/INSTRUCTION/VID-CLIP! Gave me supreme confidence to make the repairs myself (on CPVC/PVC) vs hiring a plumber. Bought a 1 1/8” pipe cutter as advised, got rid of a leaking “valve assembly” and the same next to it. Planning on doing the whole house soon. KUDOS to That Fix It Guy !!!!!!
Fix it guy. Thank you very much your videos talking about the flaws of flowtite valves, and how to remove/fix them. I purchased a new house last year, and had one of these flowtite valves leak and destroyed a portion of drywall behind my toilet. I'll be proactively removing all flowtite valves from my house, with a proper way to fix this deficiency thanks to you. Also helping me save bookoo bux of potential other water damage which may occur from this faulty product. Thank you for spreading awareness, and providing a solution. I am indebted to you.
Dude. Thank you for this. I’m going to be replacing every single one of those garbage valves in my new place but was not looking forward to cutting off some of the shorter supply lines.
I had to replace a Flowtite valve 4 days ago, wish I would have seen this video prior to my removal. I chose to cut it out and then replace it with a shark bite angle stop because I didn't have a Proper Expander tool. I just ordered a 2532-22 tool kit so now I'm prepared for the future. Thanks for the great tip.
Your welcome. You bought yourself a great tool. Will be able to help a lot of people out with that as well. Thank you for watching. I hope We can help you out sometime.
Currently replacing 6 faucets, so 12 lines, and I spun 4 of them off before seeing this video. I don’t think I damaged the pex too bad, but to be safe I think I’m gonna invest in a cutter now. Thanks for the tip.
I cannot over-stress how important it is to practice with some PEX-A and the Expander Tool before attempting to place new fittings into PEX-A (if you have not worked with it before). At 6:00 he shows about 10 expansions with the expander tool and the fitting goes in all of the way. I have worked with some PEX-A that required 15+ expansions before the fitting would seat fully. If you do not get the PEX-A tube expanded FULLY and try to place a fitting in and it doesn't go in completely - you now have a serious problem. Typically, there is only enough pipe sticking out of the wall to install a fitting. If the fitting only goes in partially, typically there isn't enough pipe sticking out to cut and retry. You GET One Try to get it RIGHT. Home Depot sells 5 foot lengths of PEX-A type (very low cost), I recommend buying some and practicing b4 you attempt to do this repair. Also, make sure you are using the correct head size on the expander tool (1/2 in, 3/4 in, 1 in) that matches the pipe you are working with. The ONLY place that I have found that rents the Expander tool is Ferguson Plumbing. Wish you the best.
Thanks for sharing. In this case, is a push on fitting works better and safer for installation? Also mine is a blur plastic pipe sticking out in the basement washroom, how should make sure it is pex A or something else?
Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial!! You ought to enable the "Tips" feature for your channel because I would love to send one and I'm sure other people would too!
Pex B is not expandable. Don't even try, you'll get in trouble. Only pex A is expandable and it uses these specific fittings like the ones in the video. Pex B uses different fittings and you can either use pinch clamps or copper rings to secure the fitting to the pipe. You will also need the tool for the clamp or the crimp tool for the ring. You can look online for PEX B to NPT male adapter 1/2", 3/4" or 1" or whichever size you need. Pex B fittings have 2 lines around the barb while pex A fittings have only 1 big one around it. I hope I was helpful.
Uponor makes angle stops which you can directly connect the pipe to with expansion, instead of having to get a threaded adapter and then screw the angle stop on
Yes, but when that angle stop valve fails it is hell to remove and replace the expansion sleeve. Plus you will need an expander tool again. Using his method, you would just unscrew the old valve off and screw on a new one - boom done.
Builders and contractors should not be allowed to install this garbage! What I like to call the contractor special. A couple of hundred dollars saved results in many thousands in damage and insurance cost!
That works like a charm I just did it last week on a flowtite on cpvc! I hate flowtites lol.
I love finding things like this to make job’s easier. Thank you for checking out the video.

Definitely my preferred way to remove those valves! Nice job!
Thanks brother!! I would’ve never thought to use either the cutter or a thread on adapter. Makes sense

You just never know how it is secured behind the wall as well. Glad this could help.

I have to change out 3 of these and none of them have much pipe sticking out to worn with so you saved me
Thanks so much!! Flowturd valves are the dioxin of the plumbing industry.

Awesome video brother. Man your turning us all into plumbers. Congratulations on the 20,000 awesome to see you growing
Bro thank you! 20k is pretty wild. We have come along way at this point. I love teaching this stuff as well as learning all I can.
Thank you! This matches to my current settings. Will reference this when I need to replace the valve.
So glad this could help you out. Please let me know if you need anything.
Whats the advantage of your preferred method versus a shark bite?
great tips for another tricky plumbing job. thanks!!
Yeah this is my favorite way so far to do these. So easy! Thank you for the support.
Great video. When you join the male adapter to angle stop, do you find that the adapter only threads about half way even when wrenched?
Great idea! Think I’ll start changing all of our cheap valves!!!
It is a good call. Personal opinion.
You mentioned that you don’t like shark bite installation. it seems to be much easier that way . Can you explain why? Thank you!
I have just seen them leak a lot. I have used them, but I I really try not to.
Thanks for the tips Brian! Looks so much easier and quicker!
Your very welcome. Thank you for watching and happy Mother’s Day.

Which brand brass adapter would you pick to outlive you? Heard some of them are trash
so what's wrong with the sharkbite?
Amazing tutorial. Thank you!!
Can you do a video showing how to get these crappy flowtite valves off of the water connections for a washing machine?
But wasn't the Flowtite valve glued on? Or was that a pressure type connect? & That's why by cutting it, everything snapped out in pieces?
So you’re sol if it’s tight to the wall
as a master plumber been doin it for yrs not new to us thanks
I wish someone would have told me. Masters keeping secrets! Shame shame! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for this tip! Just bought a house with these POS!
Hey king. Could you use a shark bite valve here?
You totally could.
Thanks man. So helpful
I need to do the same thing with type B. Do you have a link for that?

Can you explain the Megalock step at 2:51?

What about the Clamps
Flowtite is horrible garbage. I'm replacing 11 of them tomorrow.
Oh man. Get it. Hope all goes smooth.
Piggy back that.

Totally agree. Thank you for checking this out.
You’re 100% correct. These plastic angle stops are total trash and a flood waiting happen. Can’t believe they pass code
Can you replace this without shutting off the main water valve??
Come on man think
I will be a monkeys uncle that is one sweet trick with the tubing cutter 👍🇺🇸
Yeah Britt I thought so too. So easy especially in a tight space. Will helps lots of people. Thank you.
These are complete garbage
