- You asked for it! Well, somebody did. How to disassemble multi-disc cd jewel cases!
This might seem like a goofy one, but hear me out. Most PS1 games in multi-disc cases are decent titles. PLUS those black dividers can be crazy tempermental. We aren't exactly flush with replacements either. So an ounce of prevention goes a long way!! Once those black center dividers break, it can be tough to find the correct one.
So let's get into it!

Any phone or electronics repair kit will have those two. Don't spend too much money on any of them, they'll get damaged quick, but that's part of the point.

Thanks a ton. Pretty simple after the first time, you saved me a lot of time (and money, seems like cracked jewel cases lower value a decent amount). Replaced the back of my Lunar 1 that had 3 big cracks, and also replaced the front of Lunar 2 and the front-side of the back case.
Glad it helped! A simple case swap is always a nice fix! And Lunar is so worth it!!
Let's goooo. Also I wanted to tell you I got my gameboy player disc and sunshine disc working for gamecube. Had to use the novus 3 on the gameboy disc but hey were gaming.
Hey that's what counts, getting back to gaming! Plus the Novus compounds are still much less damaging to polycarbonate than some other methods!

I would like to convert my Three Sides Live chubby case into a slim two CD case as it will fit into my CD storage.
Entirely possible! The cover arts might not fit, but I've switched some games to slim cases before as well!
Would i be better off just buying cheap ps1 games and switching out my expensive games and inserts? are can buying off brand cases be good enough? i want to someday get my games graded and can the people who grade tell the difference between original ps1 cases and off brand?

You absolutely can case swap. I made a few videos where I talk about how it's kinda silly to polish jewel cases when you can swap just as easily, but there are a handful of times when you want that original case! Or long box jewel cases! So I figured it's not a bad skill to have handy. Most off-brand are just as good (Sony made a TON of jewel cases, so it's entirely possible that your off-brand ones will be sony brand)
Oh lordy, if WATA was good enough to recognize off-brand vs sony jewel cases I'd be shocked. To my knowledge there aren't any huge signs that would tip off WATA (unless the case is missing the CD imprint or feel cheaper. But I also have low expectations for those "professional graders" hah! I've been tempted to mock up a fake case and cover art and see if it passes them. Kinda evil, but maybe....
But so yeah the differences between off brand and PS1 are going to be almost entirely in the feel. Cheaper acrylics, so one will feel stiffer (PS1 cases feel a bit more sturdy, but with flex).

Usually! It depends on the manufacturer, but most often the front and back jewel case pieces are interchangeable with "most" single disc cases. There are a ton of weird variants to that rule, but Sony stuck to it fairly consistently!

Hello! I have a question. I have a few CD jewel cases where the 'front' doors are cracked. I only wish to replace the front part but how can I do this without breaking it??? I'm trying to remove the door but for some reason is refuses to open. My fingers just can't remove it. How can I get those cracked front covers removed and replaced. Thanks!
Absolutely there's a way! Skip to like 7:10 on my video and see that little guitar pick thing I'm using? You'll do that same method to remove the front part of the jewel case, just lift it slightly up and out of it's little post. When I use my fingers I tend to crack the cases too, so you need a tool to really get in there!
