    Great job man! I plan to help my gf with this in a few days. Can i ask what you used to hold the gasket in place on the pan? Thanks.

    • @beebacheeba
      @beebacheeba 3 года назад +2

      High Tack Gasket Sealant. It's a brush on stuff that will "glue" or hold on the gasket to the pan. I would personally paint a bit on the top as well before assembly. Me personally now I do the ultimate which is to just use transmission atf gasket maker by permatex on both sides of the gasket to essentially glue and seal it at the same time. Most say that's not supposed to be done but I've had 100% success doing it for years now with no problems. Doing any other method, other than the High Tack, I have had problems periodically - meaning they aren't 100% methods. Anyway, hope that helps.

    '07 2nd owner at 140k...Fluid is dark red, no shavings in pan. I normally change every 40k. 1st owner is a friend who bought new and she cant recall if Toyota's stealership service ever changed; I have all the paper records and did not see anything.. I was a bit leery about doing it over 100k [the rule I was taught]. Oddly I had 6qts drain out, drain/fill specs all say 2.5/2.7 and I've seen 3qts total discussed here. So I'm thinking my initial fill should be 2.5 OR should I put back in what came out...guess I should have checked the stick first! It may have been overfilled to begin with.

    Hey awesome video! My 2007 Toyota Yaris had 149,xxx miles on it and the fluid still had red tint but was mostly darker then your typical fluid. I changed it along with the filter, dropped the pan, cleaned the pan, and I drove it for about 50 miles before it slipped and now no longer goes forward at all. My fluid was at the right measurements but still seemed to have messed up my transmission sadly. I use valvoline max life on most of my cars and did on this job. I was told by local Toyota shop that Valvoline Max life is an alternative to the Toyota Fluid. Let me know what you think! Thank you.

    • @beebacheeba
      @beebacheeba 3 года назад +2

      Yeah you can do that it shouldn't be a problem. Lots of guys swear by doing that but personally I think it doesn't matter. Cooler means you won't get burned and warmer means you might strip bolts on the pan so I would never replace a pan while hot, just drain and refill maybe while hot. Otherwise always cool.

    • @jayhay1237

      if the fluid is off color, use valvoline high mileage. if the fluid is still redish, use toyota ws. in either case, change the fluid!

    • @beebacheeba
      @beebacheeba 3 года назад +3

      Absolutely not. Trans fluid can and should be replaced. Most disagree but in my personal experience dirty fluid gives dirty results and clean fluid gives clean operation. The Yaris in particular shakes like a MFr until you change the fluid. Make sure you use the right stuff.

  • @Toyeboy89
    @Toyeboy89 4 года назад +2

    Is this an automatic? I'm confused on how you only needed 3 quarts after pulling the bottom pan and Channing the filter. The owner's manual for mine says 2.6 US quarts for a simple drain and fill but there's 6.8 US quarts in the trans. So I hope checked your transmission fluid level.

    • @16thstproductions42
      @16thstproductions42  4 года назад +1

      Yea it was about 2.6 US Quarts. I just filled it up until it was at the full mark

    • @JG-ss9xy
      @JG-ss9xy 4 года назад

      yeah that's right, I got my wifes yaris 2008 HB auto transmission parked for 3 days then today I changed the fluid and 3 quarts was not enough, when the car is really cold you need some more than when is hot.

    • @beebacheeba
      @beebacheeba 3 года назад +1

      There is a difference between the total amount in the torque converter and whatnot and how much you have to add after just a pan drop. But yeah 2.6 and yes this is an automatic.

      You just wipe off the excess metal and trans fluid, no need to get all fancy about it. You're cleaning off the metal shavings from trans operation. Hopefully you don't have many. After 100K miles my Yaris had next to zero metal shavings on the magnets. Good stuff!

    Hey man had the ATF drain and filled by mechanic, next day after driving for abit and running through the gears, checked the dipstick with engine running on park, fluid level is about 1cm over hot mark.
    Should I be worried and drain some fluid? 2014 Yaris.
