  • How to build a portable reflection pond for wildlife photography for $40!
Enrol in my Wildlife Photography online course: bit.ly/Wildlife...
Do you love photographing birds? Let me show you how to build a portable reflection pool for wildlife photography in your garden for next to nothing! I simply bought a $19 plastic drip tray, built a wooden frame for it with some wood cut-offs that cost me $21 and then popped it onto a camping table. I'll use an old hiking tent instead of a photographic blind and there you go - Bob's your uncle!
In this video I show you not only how to build a portable reflection pond for bird photography, but also how to choose the best location and how to create the sandy edge on which the birds will sit when they drink. But make sure you watch the second Episode before you built your own, because I first need to see how well it works. I may well make a few changes to perfect it over the first couple of weeks.
Enjoy the video and I hope it inspires you to built your own reflection pool for wildlife photography!

Very cool Villiers. Might sound strange but I could smell the estate : ). Only thing I'd change about the hide.....would have done an afternoon hide so I had the excuse to have sundowners while I photographed. Louisa at IRL might remember me with my bottle of Single Malt at the afternoon hide, it's really is the civilised way to shoot : )

I've watched all of your videos on reflection pools and have attempted to make one. My tray is plastic so I can't seem to find a way to build up the sides. It is a 2" deep tray and the birds all go to the sides to drink instead of the back where my focus is. Any suggestions for me? I would be thankful for a reply.

This is perfect. I'm not a bird watcher..I'm lucky to have many species living in all my trees; however, this will work as a reflection pond and a place for the birds etc to drink and cool off. I've been trying to come up with a small"pond" that will reflect the beautiful sunset in my backyard!
    🙂
