    Billions are paid to our justice dept who upholds the laws of this country so if dispute n grievances arises between 2 parties our officials in the justice departments should immediately get involved and resolve their issues accordingly

    I do understand all about the grievances of these students . But the issues the SRC is highlighting is fairly clear cut. This is definitely is issue for Department of education and NSFAS . Why is these students are being blind folded. NSFAS must tell them the truth that they already misused all the funds and there is no more money left. Why is it so difficult to solve this problem .what does it have to do with the University?

    In China the poorest child from the most remote village will get free education once he has demonstrated he has the academic ability to deserve a free education. Here in SA it appears that students want free accommodation and everything else but to be provided to them. Why is it the university's obligation? I have no problem with the state providing worthy applicants a hand up. But as usual the process will be hijacked by those who have no intention of studying and as usual the ones most deserving will suffer. The example is set from the top. Fish always rots from the head!

    I don't understand, why cant they find accommodation outside of Wits? I have seen places that charge 3500 max for a room and it would take a taxi or bus to get to campus.

    The VC is truelly an arrogant chap. Maybe this is one of the tips the VC received from the former Wits VC: Never sit down with the protesting students - they will punch in your face. He might have given the example of Dr Max Price at UCT.
    Besides - why this obsession to meet with the VC. I never understood this. Each university has a structure. There are executives that deal with the concerns raised by the students. Why this 'obsession' with meeting the VC.
    To be clear, VCs have no power - it all lies with Council. Rather: demand to meet with the chair of COuncil - not the front man!

      That's unfair, because if it were to play like that then that will make the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. Having the fact that these children got accepted at the university it means they deserve to be there. They worked hard, it's not their fault that they cannot afford. They are just the product of the circumstance. We need rich people, to inject money and help and support these children.

They worked hard saved I had to work after school hours didn't party never drank alcohol. Now I'm living in a leafy suburb. There were no government giving my family money no sassa etc. Just us so in life the more you put in the more you get out

    Ahh, the 30% pass rate from Matric to get into Wits - we wanted 1000 beds but they only gave us 150 beds, so what about the other 750 beds 🤣 Cannot even do the simple mathematics.

    My oh! my! parents of these young people must surely question their parenting skills? these youngsters are behaving like hooligans. Nothing in life is free, we cannot expect universities to provide ALL the accommodation and FREE tuition? we all had to seek other accommodation AND pay for our tuition. This young man will find out that toytoy, throwing rocks and destroying the property (where he wants to study) does not help at all! Learn something like self discipline if anything. I hope parents see their childrens behaviour.....

      Dont speak from a point of privilege. Education should be for free for kids coming from disadvantaged backgrounds. I know plenty people who did not pay a dime for varsity including res fees. Some parents have no money at all so you cant be blaming peoples parents because their kids are fighting to get an education
