I have a contract with the USDA, Conservation Stewardship Program, it requires dead standing trees and logs on the ground to be 10" DBH left in the woodlot. A video like this is great for ideas on how to go about getting the job done.
Every time I see what a forestry mulcher can do I'm impressed. It's just amazing to see all that brush and even big trees just chewed up and turned into some pretty decent mulch right on the spot.
Love it... everytime I’d say, ohh he missed a spot, and about 10 seconds later, he’d get that spot. I have serious OCD and like shit neat and orderly, so watching this and seeing how great of a job he does, just make it so satisfying lol.
John cleared 2acres of thick and rough under growth for me in 2015. It looked like a park when he finished. Still looks good today. Nice work, good man.
We just bought an ASV 75HD for our firewood business. Only 158 hours on it but so far we really like it. It came with a forestry package on it. Just curious if you think it will run that same head you’re running in your machine?
Not sure why I find this so therapeutic. Perhaps its because I'm not doing the work or paying for it? Great guys, nothing like seeing true pros doing a job really well.
With those loom plugs try squeezing the lock tab and push them together and then put it apart. Sometimes the O rings inside stops the lock tab releasing. Nice job
I dont get anything on my cell phone but phone calls. It is not a smart phone, just a cell phone. I really enjoyed the video though. It went faster than I expected. Those machines are time saver for sure. Thanks!
Nice video. Ouch, lol. Here in Southern Arizona we have mesquites which is a very hard stringy twisty wood... With thorns, and catclaw which have spikes... Just finished 12 miles of roadside, both sides, mesquite the whole way. 10 hour days for 12 days.
We've got black locust up here in Southeast Minnesota. The thorns are as bad as the buck brush out in the Dakotas. I mean seriously these are ¾" long thorns. I hate doing anything with those without thick leather gloves.
Yes, you need some good gloves for sure. I love that mulching attachment. I kinda like it better than the other mower style one with the blade. Good stuff man!
Really late on this but I’m just catching up on all your videos. Wife and I just talked to you on the phone about equipment a few days ago. When you said “ouch” I immediately thought I should send you these cool things we have in Florida called work gloves. Really good at stopping a lot of those type ouches. 😂
thanks for sharing a your work, I've never seen anything like this before...that Bob Cat grinding thing is badd azz...I subscribed bc I like this kind of stuff!
I am from Marietta SC you may know a couple of my cousins up there, Theres Junior with JR tree service and Jack at J&R Fence company, maybe you have met them.
i seen you reach up an move that runing saw, by the chain with your hand.guess you can,get buy in life with one hand.although it will be harder to work lol
I'm amazed that you are still in one peice! I didn't do jobs like this without thick gloves, ear muffs and a larger chain saw to fell bigger trees. Then there's the guy doing the filming standing under a tree that could have fallen on him. Still its nice to see somebody doing the work I used to love and I bet you enjoyed a few beers that night,
John John, I was wondering how many times you were gonna say ouch b4 you would put on your gloves, LMBO!!!😂 Believe me, I'm not try'n to be the "glove police" but I know how those briars can bite!!! Lolol!!! And as always AWESOME JOB three amigos!!! 👍👍
@@UpstateBrushControl thank you and I have enjoy your videos I live in the pnw I was thinking of doing the same and fire hazard reduction as well thank you for the recommendation
I have some small dead pines that were killed in a prescribed burn 2 years ago. They are falling down and need to be cleaned up. What would be the best machine? A small excavator or a track skid steer with a grapple. They are rotting and falling to pieces. Land owners shouldn't mind writing that check. Job looks great.........
Day over by 12...Yeah I need some inheritance so I can buy my tractor. Don't let people get on you about ASV, I personally LOVE them. I recently discovered my passion for this industry and was rooting for Bobcat, thinking ASV was some more-affordable brand- but then I learned more about them. They're quicker, superior track system, and they don't overheat as much in my FL climate.. Now I just need to get the dealership research going because that makes all the difference in the world
Can I ask what you got cleaning that fence line? I’m going to pick up my ASV on Friday but not sure how to quote accurately on projects like that. Thanks
Now that’s a good one, I own both and never thought of the village people. The chaps do work, stopped my saw and took me an hour to dig it out of the saw. Money well spent, and it was doing work such as they are doing.
John Lanham Danm right! Don’t know what they were thinking, not even gloves?!?! ESPESH when Dude says Ouch not once but several times obviously in pain! 😳🙄🙄🙄 Am not usually a Safety Sally but C’mon Man! 😳😲
Wonderful machine. Fresh mulch, knocks down everything in its path. GOD BLESS THE USA

Hey what was that attachment that ate the trees, very interesting
We use a ASV rt120 forestry machine with a Fecon DCR bullhog head.
John John, I was wondering how many times you were gonna say ouch b4 you would put on your gloves, LMBO!!!😂

Pretty badass skid steer.
Muy buenos videos , grandes trabajadores. Me preocupa la tos de John. Alajuela Costa Rica
Do you use stump killer on those pines, or just leave them to grow again?
The people at Fecon and ASV should reach out to you for their ads etc and give you significant discounts on all their parts etc.
We have partnered with them. Great companies!
Hello Upstate,
Pls upload some images/footages of BEFORE/AFTER, please.
Would you recommend the 120 or could get away with the 75 to do that type of work
You need as much horse power as you can get so I would recommend the 120.

Probably a track skid steer with grapple. It can move a little faster

James Hancock you work you get pay and repair your stuff what the matter
James Hancock doing this kind of work it’s hard to avoid.
What's a better technique?
good job and the machines are super.....can you imagine doing that all by hand and ax?
how much would a machine like that with the same set-up cost? looks like it did a great job
$125k
Love those cutter attachments it makes such quick work of it along as you dont care about chips everywhere great video guys .. keep it up stay safe
Thanks 👍

I wonder what that cost to have done . Well worth it , very nice looking outcome.
Your ability to maintain a positive attitude in difficult situations is truly inspiring.
Have you every hit something so hard that it broke a knife9s)? If so what was it? How much does it cost to replace a knife/blade?
Yes, we've hit rock or metal. One tooth is around $30.
Can I ask what you got cleaning that fence line? I’m going to pick up my ASV on Friday but not sure how to quote accurately on projects like that. Thanks
😎 We quote every job by the material, location from our shop and terrain.
@@UpstateBrushControl understood 😉 thank you 😊
Good work
Just wondering is that a 288 or a 394 saw that you are using ?
Tween the fence and the thorns, that was a rough job. Very nice as usual. :)

Now that’s a good one, I own both and never thought of the village people. The chaps do work, stopped my saw and took me an hour to dig it out of the saw. Money well spent, and it was doing work such as they are doing.

everytime I see one of those mulcher videos I always wonder about rocks? How big before they are a problem?
That machine will come in handy during a zombie apocalypse.
I am thinking rocks. I live in SW Mo and we raise rocks. How does this machine handle rocks?
Haha yup there is, you need a pulverizer... how close are you to Lamar MO?
