    Thanks for doing this.
    I would bet the top two are emitters (always on) and the bottom two are the receivers. The metal slotted pieces are probably used to eliminate light interference from reflections.

    Yea I believe that the two on top produce light so when the wheel goes around the light shines through and the computer knows what cylinder is where.

    I spray a bunch of electronic cleaner behind the water pump when mine starts acting up. It seems to help. My hoses on the water pump were leaking because I didn't tighten them up right when I changed the coolant. The cleaner trick is a hell of a lot easier than fuckin with that thing if it's just going to keep breaking

    I feel like there should have been 2 or 3 of the sensors in the unit. Like if one fails you could just turn a knob to the next one and it could compensate for its different location

    The 95 - 96 opti are NOT terrible
