Remember: Bullies (griefeers etc) want you to fight them because they can beat you in a brawl, but if you send them two uniformed people with batons, they are not so tough anymore. As for racing: One second is too little in the game it seems, it should be a drivetrhough of the pit lane or something else that costs you 10-30 seconds, not a single second slowdown where you are a brick in the road.

There was a mustang at a meet I went to that did a slight burnout while leaving dispite us telling him not to. A buddy of mine just said, "can't help the mustang guys."
There should be a penalty system where if someone rams another person off and the game detects the injustice the rammer's PlayStation explodes, their controllers melt, their Fortnite accounts get deleted, and they receive a certificate saying: ||| Congratulations ||| You have an iq level of 0.002 Me- Makes a comment about idiotic rammers Comment- Gets pinned, hearted and 2.5k likes Me- ...neat (Yes I know the comment doesn't have a heart or pin anymore because I edited it. And best way to solve it is to put damage on in gt sport but then damage like in f1 games or project cars. If you hit somone ur wheel wil fly off or enginge blown or crankshaft in 2 pices
This is so indicative of my experience. The 5 second penalty for basically Missiling someone off the track needs to be more like a 20 second penalty. And even then, you know your somehow going to get penalised for someone else doing it to you.
Black flags are a thing in real life. They should be part of this game as well, and there should be a cumulative penalty for being involved in accidents along the way.
That won't work, the penalty system as it is can't detect who is at fault. What if YOU get rear ended by someone and as a result YOU ram someone off aswell (can't be avoided), if the system would be implemented that you mentioned, it will punish you aswell.
@@TheDutchMan83 its not that hard to make an algorithm that would detect that you got a speed boost becasue you were rammed.... and got pushed into the bakc of another car first rule would be "if you hit the ass end.... then its your fault.... period" but then something like..... if you are rear ended, then give grace period and/or penalize the rammer" you could even add to the first rule "unless car infront moves at X feet per second left or right in the braking zone"
Spot on observations. There are even worse tactics going on at narrow tracks, like Tokyo expressway, where the guy behind you initiates contact and than taps the wall on purpose to hang penalties on you even though you did nothing. And he hardly looses any time by the slight tap of the wall.
The sad thing about these dirty drivers is that they are actually really good. He had a faster qualifying time with you. If he hadn't been so toxic, he probably would have held onto a top 5 or podium finish. It's a shame they take all that skill and just chuck it out the window.

I was going to ask practically the same thing. Why the second account when he's doing the same thing? I was honestly hoping that R4M would be the "Judge Dredd". 6 days of clean and beautiful driving and on the 7th day, Dredd comes out to send these garbages to the shadow realm. Not provoking/attacking but putting people in their place when they deserve it. It would be both justice but also therapeutic for him.
The idea of the 2nd account was to preserve ratings on my main account when the serious FIA races come around later this year. Racing against lower rated players was never the aim, it was just a necessary step as you have to start on low ratings. It's genuinely not fun at all racing in the lower levels. Fun for some memes but mostly boring and a smash-fest.
My experience: This was my 2nd race in GT Sport online, i was 2nd, pretty good, then i got bumped off the track and pushed back to 5th. It would've been fine if the 6th place racer didn't spin me out pushing me back to 8th.
That's the thing I have in Gran Turismo - no damage. Event without penalty system a damage system would have him out of the race, ruing the race of less people.
Ivan Angelov well, in this instance, damage system still would have hurt SuperGT more because he got rammed off the course. The other guy's car still would have been mostly fine with some minor cosmetic damage. I remember playing GRID 2,which has damage modeling and scum drivers I think did better because they took advantage of the fact that the cars they attack with bad sportsmanship will likely end up with more damage than the aggressor at times.

I’ve just started playing GT Sport this past weekend and my phone must have been listening in on my complaints, because here’s your recommended video. I’ve done daily races 3 times and it makes me not even want to go back online. It’s so awful. I’ll be rammed from the back which will cause me to hit a barrier. I’ll get penalties for both contacts and it just doesn’t seem right.
This is really late and I hope you have gotten better lobbies, but a good thing to try is to not qualify and just drive the race last and hopefully your SR goes up if no one comes in contact with you from crashing in the first turn.
4:23 i see that you're having some problems with black borders around the screen while recording or taking screenshots, that's an easy fix, go to Settings>Sound and Screen>Display Area Settings and enlarge it to the maximum, that will solve the problem

totally agree about fast drivers that have a dirty edge about them, no need to play like that just ruining the fun for everybody, I had this experience myself and it made me stop playing for a while. he was a A+/S driver as well
It's worth remembering racing ultimately is about being first, at least in the minds of some of the fastest people. They will get dirty if that is what it takes. You can see this in real racing. Do not be surprised to see this in sim racing every where. It's why I race less and less, it's annoying, it's not fun.
@@TheChannel1978 Its because the way races are setup is broken. Collisions should result in realistic damage, meaning that if you bump with somebody your car doesn't drive straight anymore. But this introduces other problem, which is that it becomes very hard to finish any race, since everyone's cars are broken. This could be fixed by assigning equal penalty points to both drivers in a collision, irrelevant of the driver that actually caused the collision. The points should have a real impact on your rating. This way, the drivers would have an actual incentive to avoid collisions at all costs, even if it means finishing last (its as if you are driving a real car, and it costs money to fix it)

It took me a while to get out of the dirty races and get my SR up. My route out was through the longer daily race C. I kept doing it again and again. I recommend this route to anyone looking to break away.
I’m rated SR A and agree. When you try to win you tangle with racers and your SR suffers. Just race easy and SR goes up and you leave the thugs behind you.
I just started the Sport section & frustration is an understatement. Always getting bumped out of the road slowing for corners & dive bombs galore. And it’s my experience that they rarely get a penalty. But you go from say 3rd to the middle or farther back in the pack. This is where more bumping and shoving happens. And all this after turning many laps to get a good qualifying time. It has turned me off racing in Sport. Great vid bud. Cheers

I played an online race (my SR is 99) on the 18.82 mile oval and there was a 7-car crash on the first straight in an 11 car field and it was almost 8 if the hit I took actually spun me. I have no clue how people mess this up.

Needs some sort of damage model and incorporate that into the penalty system. Make it variable based on weather conditions too. What about also a possible "recovery" system for the guys that get knocked off the circuit where it deducts time elapsed instead of the penalty system that adds time elapsed? And then link the two so that the amount of time added/subtracted correlates to who gets knocked off / who did the ramming.
not that I'm any good, but I stopped playing Forza because I don't want to play THAT kind of player vs. player game, I just want to race without having to treat each car near me as a trap/homing missile

Ouch, that hurts to watch. This is very similar to how it feels playing Rocket League when your teammate accidentally bumps you out of goal n the opposition scores the easiest goal of their lifes.
This type of behavior plagues every racing game... I remember being hooked on Racedriver GRID. When I played against good players, we had fun. Real fun, and I almost always got podiums. 99% of the time, though... the "rating" system is half the way only. The other half is stopping them from playing online. Something like a soft system ban. Let them access all features but the multiplayer.
This guys almost as dirty as the Brazilian's you'd meet on Grid 2 back in the day. Being honest though, this guy ain't nothing compared to Ranked matches on Forza Horizon 4. "Absolute Scum" could be considered an understatement. I've actually refused to play Ranked PvP until the last bastards at Playground Games turn contact off or start heavily penalising.

You can never tell when your about to be ghosted or not, and you still constantly rammed off the track right before checkpoints. By far the worst part of it all is that people have now started exploiting the new system that has been far worse than wall riding. Now, if your coming into a corner and someone uses you as stopping mechanism to get round the corner. They don't get penalised, but if you slide into the wall as a result of their cheating, you actually get penalised. The new system for me and a bunch of friends has made PvP even more a nightmare to play
Before you went live last night we were in a lobby together . I left it on lap 2 because of exact driving like this from people. Use you as breaks and cushions to get passed not one clean move. The orange SR from being tapped by people who can’t judge slipstream means even if you don’t get pens your SR goes down because it’s 4 laps. Even if you have a clean race you get max 8 SR up so this system is literally pointless that’s why I’m not bothered with this game anymore. All they care about is FIA tours with a bunch of nerds. No one else matters
This is why Race C is your best bet if you want to improve your SR. It's very easy to maintain and build up your SR in C because of the extended length of the races. The field gets very sparse after the first 4-5 laps and so if you want to stay out of trouble, it's quite easy to do so.
They should have a complaint system where you can send in the clip of the unsportsmanlike driving, and he receives a suspension from playing. If he gets multiple suspensions, he gets banned.
What about a own up to it system. Who did it and get the penalty but include a clip sent like a.honour system to know if they're believable or not when they give their answer

A good system would be to implement some type of "submit review" button and it'll allow you to select a person/s in the race who you think should be up for review. A human person would then review that footage and decide on appropriate action. Or hell, do what CS:GO does and allow the community to review flagged races and let them vote on who is in the wrong and what type of punishment is necessary. For example, in the race with the Veteran, I'd vote him in the wrong and mark him down for a 5 day game suspension meaning he will not be able to play for 5 days. After 24+ hours, if enough people have voted on a punishment, that punishment will go into effect. If not enough people voted on it, a human employed by the devs will then review it and decide on a punishment. You could also reward people for their reviewing with in-game credits or some type of reward that makes them want to participate in making the community a better place.

As a new driver to this I do my best to break earlier since i don’t have the confidence to attack a corner yet in order to pass a player. That being said I’ve had multiple times I’m trying to gain confidence and someone rams me or someone I’m racing off the track but gets no penalty. So it’s difficult to build up my skill times when that happens.
great video, I have had and kept my SR at an S for so long and lately the races have been chaos. one of my recent manufactures cup races I was shunted at what felt like every corner, there would be penalties but they just are not that severe enough, I lose about 5 seconds they only get 2 second penalty. it's a shame as the game is great but atm only 1 out of 5 lobbies I enter seem to want to race fair. any tips on other racing sims and their penalty systems? I have ps4, been looking at project cars 2 but will probably have a similar experience there. maybe all the rammers are just waiting for a console release of wreckfest haha.
So glad I watched this, I have a B SR rating at the moment and sometimes you get a good clean race but if you get involved with some dickhead and it drops to a C rating it's a total shit show. I'm going to finish last and avoid everyone until I'm S and hopefully it's a better experience.
it is nowhere near better with an S rating. Its all about the DR. once you get above a B it gets better but you better be fast to get a B. its tough to get that high. I"m D/S won 2 manufacture's race today and didn't budge. I'm about to give up on this game unless the new update has some drastic changes.
I used to race like that last guy, back when I played a lot of forza. as of recently i've started getting into sim racing properly, playing assetto corsa and ACC a lot and im really trying to focus on learning to overtake/ race cleanly and i think i've got a lot better. my SA can still use some work in ACC but im enjoying racing so much more now that im actually trying to avoid collisions haha

A year and a half later YT has just recommended this video to me again. Have to say the penalty system just seems to get worse and worse with this game. The amount of penalties I have got from being hit by a dive bomber is ridiculous, but even worse is when you connect with a car that is spun out and blocking the whole track, and you get a penalty for hitting them. Try to avoid it by going off track, get a penalty for ignoring track limits. Last night I got a penalty for hitting a stationary car at the start of a race because the guy obviously was not at his PS4 when the race started.
I have this happen to me a lot. I work my way up several positions and then someone behind forgets they have brakes and I get penalized for it. :/ More in the daily races than in the championship series, but it's there too. It's hard to build up your SR and DR when you're consistently drop-kicked.
I've been playing GT since PS1. I would chill with my memory card in my pocket how serious me & my friends would play GT back then. We played no dirty moves. Contact sure but if the contact drove the other car off the track you owe me $5 that's how we played 😂 2020 i race the same way clean racing but not everyone is like that so 👍 of course no one wants to pay $5 so it forced us to play clean.

Just started to have excellent qualifier times. Went from SR S99 to SR B in 3 races all because of SPA's chicane. So many dive bombers and others who wait half way to break check or bump up in the back into other cars or into the shadow realm without being really punished for any of it. I love this game but trying to re-establish a good doesn't Sportsmanship rating is impossible unless you tank your Driver Rating.
I have a D sportsmanship rating. Now, before you scoff at me, I’m actually quite good at racing, but I can’t get out of the horrible matchups, because when the first corner comes around, I get rammed completely off the corner and I get a six second penalty. Every. Single. Time. WHAT DO I DO
Stay behind and finish last. Cruise through the track and learn it well. Finishing clean will move you up to a cleaner class and you will have practiced the tracks.
If the system detects you going off track, and it takes 6 seconds to return, then the player that knocked you off the track, should get 12 seconds penalty - really harsh penalties would soon make people cautious and stop being a holes
I only just bought the game a couple weeks ago after stumbling across your videos and I have to say the lower rated races really put me off the game. I try my best to set a good quali time (managed 4th on Nurburgring so far) only to just get punted off by someone at the first turn. And getting rammed by someone who misses the braking point and being pushed off the track only to get a penalty for "exceeding track limits" is super fun.

Well most of the time some one punting you off is because they pushing there skills to 101%. They forgetting that they do not have faster reaction times then a fly or they just suck at driving. That is way it's always best to get your SR above 95 ASAP. As the highest dire of SR S drivers know how to drive in traffic.
Yes, I have the same sort of experience as yourself. My DR is only D as I'm not very good but I do have a 99pt S rating yet I still find I'm surrounded by muppets in races where they punt into me, I go off the track but I get the penalty !! GT REALLY need to get this sorted out as it's so annoying, frustrating & really puts people off taking part in the online races.

This is so indicative of my experience. The 5 second penalty for basically Missiling someone off the track needs to be more like a 20 second penalty. And even then, you know your somehow going to get penalised for someone else doing it to you.
Black flags are a thing in real life. They should be part of this game as well, and there should be a cumulative penalty for being involved in accidents along the way.

They need a black flag penalty where if you ram someone off the the track you're disqualified or at least placed a lap down and ghosted.
It does DQ you if you do it enough lol. But you have to be consistently penalized.
That won't work, the penalty system as it is can't detect who is at fault. What if YOU get rear ended by someone and as a result YOU ram someone off aswell (can't be avoided), if the system would be implemented that you mentioned, it will punish you aswell.

Spot on observations. There are even worse tactics going on at narrow tracks, like Tokyo expressway, where the guy behind you initiates contact and than taps the wall on purpose to hang penalties on you even though you did nothing. And he hardly looses any time by the slight tap of the wall.
The sad thing about these dirty drivers is that they are actually really good. He had a faster qualifying time with you. If he hadn't been so toxic, he probably would have held onto a top 5 or podium finish. It's a shame they take all that skill and just chuck it out the window.

The idea of the 2nd account was to preserve ratings on my main account when the serious FIA races come around later this year. Racing against lower rated players was never the aim, it was just a necessary step as you have to start on low ratings. It's genuinely not fun at all racing in the lower levels. Fun for some memes but mostly boring and a smash-fest.

My experience: This was my 2nd race in GT Sport online, i was 2nd, pretty good, then i got bumped off the track and pushed back to 5th. It would've been fine if the 6th place racer didn't spin me out pushing me back to 8th.
That's the thing I have in Gran Turismo - no damage. Event without penalty system a damage system would have him out of the race, ruing the race of less people.
Ivan Angelov well, in this instance, damage system still would have hurt SuperGT more because he got rammed off the course. The other guy's car still would have been mostly fine with some minor cosmetic damage. I remember playing GRID 2,which has damage modeling and scum drivers I think did better because they took advantage of the fact that the cars they attack with bad sportsmanship will likely end up with more damage than the aggressor at times.

I’ve just started playing GT Sport this past weekend and my phone must have been listening in on my complaints, because here’s your recommended video.
I’ve done daily races 3 times and it makes me not even want to go back online. It’s so awful. I’ll be rammed from the back which will cause me to hit a barrier. I’ll get penalties for both contacts and it just doesn’t seem right.
This is really late and I hope you have gotten better lobbies, but a good thing to try is to not qualify and just drive the race last and hopefully your SR goes up if no one comes in contact with you from crashing in the first turn.

It's worth remembering racing ultimately is about being first, at least in the minds of some of the fastest people. They will get dirty if that is what it takes. You can see this in real racing. Do not be surprised to see this in sim racing every where. It's why I race less and less, it's annoying, it's not fun.
@@TheChannel1978 Its because the way races are setup is broken. Collisions should result in realistic damage, meaning that if you bump with somebody your car doesn't drive straight anymore. But this introduces other problem, which is that it becomes very hard to finish any race, since everyone's cars are broken.
This could be fixed by assigning equal penalty points to both drivers in a collision, irrelevant of the driver that actually caused the collision. The points should have a real impact on your rating. This way, the drivers would have an actual incentive to avoid collisions at all costs, even if it means finishing last (its as if you are driving a real car, and it costs money to fix it)
@@kristupasantanavicius9093 A sturdy nudge probably won't screw up the alignment or bend the frame but, on a race car, damaging the bodykit kills aerodynamics and that extra drag would do them in.
It took me a while to get out of the dirty races and get my SR up. My route out was through the longer daily race C. I kept doing it again and again. I recommend this route to anyone looking to break away.

I just started the Sport section & frustration is an understatement. Always getting bumped out of the road slowing for corners & dive bombs galore. And it’s my experience that they rarely get a penalty. But you go from say 3rd to the middle or farther back in the pack. This is where more bumping and shoving happens. And all this after turning many laps to get a good qualifying time. It has turned me off racing in Sport. Great vid bud. Cheers

I played an online race (my SR is 99) on the 18.82 mile oval and there was a 7-car crash on the first straight in an 11 car field and it was almost 8 if the hit I took actually spun me. I have no clue how people mess this up.

Needs some sort of damage model and incorporate that into the penalty system. Make it variable based on weather conditions too. What about also a possible "recovery" system for the guys that get knocked off the circuit where it deducts time elapsed instead of the penalty system that adds time elapsed? And then link the two so that the amount of time added/subtracted correlates to who gets knocked off / who did the ramming.
If you're not matched against people with an SR on the top of S rating, it reminds me of Forza.

Ouch, that hurts to watch. This is very similar to how it feels playing Rocket League when your teammate accidentally bumps you out of goal n the opposition scores the easiest goal of their lifes.
This type of behavior plagues every racing game... I remember being hooked on Racedriver GRID. When I played against good players, we had fun. Real fun, and I almost always got podiums. 99% of the time, though... the "rating" system is half the way only. The other half is stopping them from playing online. Something like a soft system ban. Let them access all features but the multiplayer.

@@cooltwittertag Personally I think it's even worse. You now get penalised for absolutely everything even the slightest of mistakes. You can never tell when your about to be ghosted or not, and you still constantly rammed off the track right before checkpoints.
By far the worst part of it all is that people have now started exploiting the new system that has been far worse than wall riding.
Now, if your coming into a corner and someone uses you as stopping mechanism to get round the corner. They don't get penalised, but if you slide into the wall as a result of their cheating, you actually get penalised.
The new system for me and a bunch of friends has made PvP even more a nightmare to play

The orange SR from being tapped by people who can’t judge slipstream means even if you don’t get pens your SR goes down because it’s 4 laps. Even if you have a clean race you get max 8 SR up so this system is literally pointless that’s why I’m not bothered with this game anymore. All they care about is FIA tours with a bunch of nerds. No one else matters
This is why Race C is your best bet if you want to improve your SR. It's very easy to maintain and build up your SR in C because of the extended length of the races. The field gets very sparse after the first 4-5 laps and so if you want to stay out of trouble, it's quite easy to do so.

They should have a complaint system where you can send in the clip of the unsportsmanlike driving, and he receives a suspension from playing. If he gets multiple suspensions, he gets banned.

A good system would be to implement some type of "submit review" button and it'll allow you to select a person/s in the race who you think should be up for review. A human person would then review that footage and decide on appropriate action. Or hell, do what CS:GO does and allow the community to review flagged races and let them vote on who is in the wrong and what type of punishment is necessary. For example, in the race with the Veteran, I'd vote him in the wrong and mark him down for a 5 day game suspension meaning he will not be able to play for 5 days. After 24+ hours, if enough people have voted on a punishment, that punishment will go into effect. If not enough people voted on it, a human employed by the devs will then review it and decide on a punishment.
You could also reward people for their reviewing with in-game credits or some type of reward that makes them want to participate in making the community a better place.

As a new driver to this I do my best to break earlier since i don’t have the confidence to attack a corner yet in order to pass a player. That being said I’ve had multiple times I’m trying to gain confidence and someone rams me or someone I’m racing off the track but gets no penalty. So it’s difficult to build up my skill times when that happens.
great video, I have had and kept my SR at an S for so long and lately the races have been chaos. one of my recent manufactures cup races I was shunted at what felt like every corner, there would be penalties but they just are not that severe enough, I lose about 5 seconds they only get 2 second penalty.
it's a shame as the game is great but atm only 1 out of 5 lobbies I enter seem to want to race fair.
any tips on other racing sims and their penalty systems? I have ps4, been looking at project cars 2 but will probably have a similar experience there.

it is nowhere near better with an S rating. Its all about the DR. once you get above a B it gets better but you better be fast to get a B. its tough to get that high. I"m D/S won 2 manufacture's race today and didn't budge. I'm about to give up on this game unless the new update has some drastic changes.

I used to race like that last guy, back when I played a lot of forza. as of recently i've started getting into sim racing properly, playing assetto corsa and ACC a lot and im really trying to focus on learning to overtake/ race cleanly and i think i've got a lot better. my SA can still use some work in ACC but im enjoying racing so much more now that im actually trying to avoid collisions haha

The amount of penalties I have got from being hit by a dive bomber is ridiculous, but even worse is when you connect with a car that is spun out and blocking the whole track, and you get a penalty for hitting them. Try to avoid it by going off track, get a penalty for ignoring track limits.
Last night I got a penalty for hitting a stationary car at the start of a race because the guy obviously was not at his PS4 when the race started.
I have this happen to me a lot. I work my way up several positions and then someone behind forgets they have brakes and I get penalized for it. :/ More in the daily races than in the championship series, but it's there too. It's hard to build up your SR and DR when you're consistently drop-kicked.
I've been playing GT since PS1. I would chill with my memory card in my pocket how serious me & my friends would play GT back then. We played no dirty moves. Contact sure but if the contact drove the other car off the track you owe me $5 that's how we played 😂 2020 i race the same way clean racing but not everyone is like that so 👍 of course no one wants to pay $5 so it forced us to play clean.

Just started to have excellent qualifier times. Went from SR S99 to SR B in 3 races all because of SPA's chicane. So many dive bombers and others who wait half way to break check or bump up in the back into other cars or into the shadow realm without being really punished for any of it. Sportsmanship rating is impossible unless you tank your Driver Rating.
I have a D sportsmanship rating. Now, before you scoff at me, I’m actually quite good at racing, but I can’t get out of the horrible matchups, because when the first corner comes around, I get rammed completely off the corner and I get a six second penalty. Every. Single. Time. WHAT DO I DO
Stay behind and finish last. Cruise through the track and learn it well. Finishing clean will move you up to a cleaner class and you will have practiced the tracks.
If the system detects you going off track, and it takes 6 seconds to return, then the player that knocked you off the track, should get 12 seconds penalty - really harsh penalties would soon make people cautious and stop being a holes

I only just bought the game a couple weeks ago after stumbling across your videos and I have to say the lower rated races really put me off the game. I try my best to set a good quali time (managed 4th on Nurburgring so far) only to just get punted off by someone at the first turn. And getting rammed by someone who misses the braking point and being pushed off the track only to get a penalty for "exceeding track limits" is super fun.

Well most of the time some one punting you off is because they pushing there skills to 101%. They forgetting that they do not have faster reaction times then a fly or they just suck at driving. That is way it's always best to get your SR above 95 ASAP. As the highest dire of SR S drivers know how to drive in traffic.
Yes, I have the same sort of experience as yourself. My DR is only D as I'm not very good but I do have a 99pt S rating yet I still find I'm surrounded by muppets in races where they punt into me, I go off the track but I get the penalty !!
GT REALLY need to get this sorted out as it's so annoying, frustrating & really puts people off taking part in the online races.
