you know this coild totaly be done in the movie could have behind the scenes images or concept arts and have little bits of info . it would be unique and its a game movie anyway why not do it. or have a menu moment where she goes tbrough her pipboy
If you remember from Fallout 3 with that quest from a Ghoul to gather sugar bombs to make super jet; the ghoul states that drugs aren't nearly as effective on ghouls as they are to regular people, so they either need to take more to feel the effect or take SUPER strong ones. So The Ghoul in the show not being affected much and stating a "large bucket of drugs" is pretty lore accurate if that is whats happening.
Also a metaphor that Lucy still have yet to take in a lot of things for her unlike the ghoul, who has been more tragic outside the vaults (given he's been deemed unqualified by Vault-Tec to be sheltered despite advertising for them, like the Vault-Tec rep)

As far as the ghoul being unaffected by the syringer, he says "that's a small drop in a big ol bucket of drugs" implying he's a heavy user so a small dart wouldn't affect him.

In Fallout lore, Ghouls state that they have to use OD lvls of drugs just to feel anything. Jet docent do anything, so they gotta use Ultra Jet.

It looks like onw of the East Coast games as opposed to a West Coast game.
The ghoul is a pre war ghoul. Meaning that, assuming he stayed in California for all that time, he was around to see and potentially witness, the Vault Dweller, First gen super mutants, the Chosen one, The Enclave, and rise( and possible fall of the ncr) and he could've heard of/visited the Mojave.
Ghouls have a long life span so, they could put it in the show. Maybe add a bit of run-ins with a certain Courier 6 and that he could be one of the 1-5 that are used as decoys of House's request for six to deliver the platinum chip.
Patrolling the mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter

on the IMDB page, there is an actor cast for “Robert House” (Rafi Silver), slated for one episode. i’m sure that could just be a normal flashback scene or in some pre war footage, H&H/Robco/House were incredibly prolific, but i do think it’s possible we may have some interaction between the main cast and house

Fallout series already had enough bugs in it, thou f4 was an improvement. F3 was my personal fav, but the bugs was a real hassle..
@@paulradford4100 I can't speak for 3 or New Vegas but Fallout 4 has a huge modding community. Several of the mods like the Unofficial Patch exist to fix all of Bethesda's bugs.
@MaroonKing03 f4 was a large improvement over previous versions. The monsters though, specifically the death claw seems really buffed up.

I don't think the shopkeeper hated or disliked vault dwellers. I think she's genuinely surprised there are any vault dwellers left. The shopkeeper might be under the opinion that all vault dwellers either died from their vault experiment or that they left their vaults and died by the dangers of the wasteland.
At worst, I think she just has a low opinion of them and expects Lucy to get herself killed.
I also think it is a good representation of a lot of the atmosphere of the franchise. A hard lived survivor laughing in the face of who they perceive as a naive dumbass that they think should already be dead. That bit where comedy meets horror.
I have heard a central part was finding something funny like hiding underneath a table to protect yourself from a nuclear blast, and that is the feeling I get from the shopkeeper. Not hatred but closer to surprise.
Which is odd, because the shopkeep lives in California, which is the same region where VAULT CITY is located. She must have heard of Vault City, it is one of the biggest, most prosperous settlements in Fallout 2, right after the NCR capital Shady Sands.
So do we have to assume that not only has the NCR all but died out, but Vault City was wiped, as well?
That could only mean one thing: Caesar's Legion invaded and brought the NCR to a total collapse. Seems like the Legion got wiped by the brotherhood, maybe... but not before destroying the Republic.

@@blablubb4553Is it possible that she does not consider the citizens of Vault City to be vault dwellers? The city formed around the vault and it's probably been a few generation since the that vault opened.
Perhaps, to the shopkeeper, vault dwellers are only the people who come from a recently opened vault.

You know what else I like about what they've shown on the show? The color palette. It has that colorful look fallout 4 has when the in-game weather is in its clear skies conditions.

I think the crater that Lucy and Maximus are standing by is the remains of The Cathedral and the LA Vault from the first game, because Maximus says "Everyone wants to save the world they just disagree on how." he could be referring to The Master. Also the Gulper/Axolotl is likely some sort of FEV mutant like a Centaur because they showed it had human fingers growing inside its mouth in the previous trailer.

Alternately it could be a crater next to the shady sands library sign seen elsewhere in the trailer. The ncr might have been crippled by the brotherhood...
@@twentysecondnomad8177 It's definitely the same crater next to that sign, but I dont think that necessarily means that it was the town of Shady Sands. In the games Shady Sands is far outside of Los Angeles and it wasn't a pre-war library it was built from the ground up, I think the sign could just be there as a call back/nod to Fallout 1.

@@KotaChurch Ye, I immediately found that odd, Shady Sands was in the middle of nowhere, not next to LA? Maybe Shady Sands was some sort of pre war organization and the town got it's namesake from there and they put the sign there as a red herring?
During the scene where Lucy and Cooper are walking into the Super Duper Mart (?) she is also missing a shoe. I assume this takes place after Mr. Handy tries to harvest her and it's actually Cooper that gets her out of that sticky situation. Also, during the Brotherhood rally, the flag in the background. It seems to be he American Flag. I mean TODAY'S American Flag. I found that a little odd. And now I would like to put out a theory about Maximus, please bear with me here.
Deep Breath: Maximus is a name that probably wouldn't be too common in the L.A. Wasteland but would fit PERFECTLY with someone from Cesar's Legion. He has been called an initiate in several other promo materials (forgive me, I did not have them on hand as I was writing this) which is a term usually reserved for children. I suspect that the Brotherhood was "cleaning up the area" around the Mojave and came across a Legion encampment. They went in, "cleaned up", and found several kids. Maximus was one of them and he showed promise and wanted to go with them so they took him. Provisionally of course.
TL:DR, Maximus is formerly a Cesar's Legion child slave, liberated by the Brotherhood. And if anyone read that whole wall of text, thank you for your time.

I got goosebumps reading this. I dont even care if the story isnt as good or groundbreaking, but if they nicely tie it with the ingame lore ill still like it

Did you notice the art on the wall? It matches the pictures we see on walls in the game! The authenticity of this production is mind blowing.
To be honest, they would have had no excuse for not getting the sets and props right.
Almost everything was designed in 3d and stored on a computer.
I wouldn't be suprised if they had used the Fallout 4 map editor to design the vault set.

Calling it now, the Vault's experiment is themed after Plato's Cave allegory (literally projecting a paradise-like, idyllic life on the walls of the vault) and the twist ending is that the vault dweller protagonist is actually given a chance to rejoin the vault but does not out of her own volition, choosing instead to stay in the wasteland
Also, the shopkeeper being surprised at seeing a Vault Dweller makes no sense if this scene is in NCR territory, where they ARE descended from the residents of Vault 15 and have made contact with or is aware of the existence of other vault inhabitants and descendants Ex. Vault City, Arroyo, Dayglow
@@imbreadth11r5 she's surprised because its been well over 200 years since the bombs dropped and the NCR had been formed almost a century ago-Vault 15 opened the year of 2097, and Fallout 1 and 2 were set during 2161 and 2241 respectively. If the show is set during the same time period of Fallout 4, that means it's been over 30 years since anyone's seen a vault dweller fresh from an intact vault. Who wouldn't be surprised by that, especially those descended from previously opened vaults considering a lot of those vaults and settlers would've been long gone by now had they not opened and adapted to the wasteland?

No matter what else, whether the show itself is good or not, Walton Goggins looks like he's giving it his all for this show and that by itself might be entertaining. Me personally wondering if the show is borrowing a bit of Van Buren and having the NCR all but destroyed.
It just might! For all new Vegas took from van Buren, there was still a lot of concepts to utilize.

@@JounLord1More than that; they've used a LOT of unused Interplay material in their games since buying the IP. Everyone who thinks they don't use the Fallout Bible is full of it.
I think this is the most likely scenario. Consider the west bos contacts the east bos, using airships, somehow destroys central hubs of the NCR like shady sands with its fleet of airships, and the show takes place after the NCR has taken a beating. The signs are there, and it would conveniently allow bethesda explain why the west coast is so different from it was in New vegas timeline.
@@twentysecondnomad8177We don't have any real evidence that Shady Sands was destroyed, though. That shot of the "Shady Sands Public Library" sign was just on the outskirts of the LA Boneyard. Shady Sands itself is actually hundreds of miles to the northeast; the Boneyard would not be visible from there at all. It's likely just a production Easter egg.

Axolotls are also known to regrow limbs. There is work being done on them to see if this can be used to regrow human limbs. Wouldn’t be surprised if some lab in the FO universe is grafting human stuff to Axolotls as experiments.
19:17 I'm like 90% positive that BOS flag is from a retexture mod in Fallout 4 from years back. (EDIT: I've been informed it's from Fallout 3)

The flag is from Lyon’s chapter from Fallout 3.
The eastern brotherhood made it back by the start of the show it looks like, and occupies LA. so they are either gone or still fighting. Bethesda always making it about the brotherhood as usual
Just remember one VERY important thing.
Bethesda LOVES the Brotherhood of Steel. They literally have an obsession with them.
In Fallout 4, they underdeveloped the Institute and criminally underdeveloped the Minutemen and Railroad. The Minutemen could have become a powerhouse on the East Coast, but Bethesda always favors the Brotherhood. Like, somehow they built the Prydwen, got enough resources for it long term, created the massive T60 power armor, got enough fuel and resources for a standing army, mechanical land forces and airforce, was able to have enough resources to go from the Capital Wasteland all the way to Boston... all in the span of 12 years. That is incredibly unrealistic, even for Fallout.

From an engineering standpoint, it makes sense that the helmet is structurally integrated with the armor frame. That helmet is an awful amount of weight for the human neck to bear. If it rested on a human head, anything striking with enough force to break a human neck could kill the operator. Also, if the life support system suffers critical damage (air is no longer flowing inside the armor) having a manual opening in front could save the operator.
Love that the last shot is a pure Todd Howard "step-out" moment: leather armor set, partially-destroyed vault suit, and a thousand-yard stare of "I did NOT expect it to be like this."
Hi JuiceHead, one of my friends made props for the show including the Fallout 4 assault rifle used by the Brotherhood soldier in T-60 armor. He also is in the first trailer in armor. I have a hunch that the crater we see is from the ruins of the Cathedral in Fallout 1 that was the headquarters of The Master. But it’s interesting because the quote we get from the brotherhood guy is that everyone wants to save the world but not everyone agrees on how.
There was a Yao Guai in the trailer somewhere too. Idk why but I’m excited to see all the creatures!
That and ghouls is all I can see confirmed. Anything else? I predict Super mutants show up in the last episode
Flashbacks are mandatory for a character that is over two centuries.
Expect a fair bit of change in character between then & now.
Fun fact, the Exit Sign for Hollywood Blvd in the show says that it's exit 12A. If it correlates with real-life, then this places the flooded location to where Universal City is in the Hollywood Hills. And yes, that is where you get off the 101 to get to Universal Studios
I would note a small thing:
The chest of the combat armor sported by the NCR trooper isn't the one we know from F4, and is more reminiscent of F3/NV's, or even the og combat armor from the first two
That’s probably because the one in fallout four is a mod it’s not the real thing. Duh.😂 you obviously have not played the games.
The most fascinating thing to me was the fact that the M1918 BAR variants shown were the WW1 style with the handguard that wraps up around but not over the barrel and the M1917 Enfield style rear sight, rather than the WW2 variant
Looks closer to the FO4 battle rifle that way.
I hope it isn't implying that the NCR doesn't make weapons when they do.
FO4 started phasing out post WW1 style weapons, so I can see why they would. FO1, 2, NV, all had gear from up to the Cold War, while FO4 phased a lot of them out and introduced the water cooled Assault Rifle

@@yourgoodfriend276 The Assault Rifle looks closer to a Lewis Gun TBH, both in the TV series and the game.
I think the show will definitely have Cooper Ghoul experiencing two major wars. One in 2077 and one in the main time of the show. It will end with similar results because war....war never changes.
I hate to nitpick, but an obvious point at 2:45 is chems in the air system, first happy and calming for docile workers, then Vault-Tec happens and everything goes haywire.
Another vault in one of the games (I can't remember what one off the top of my head) had something similar happen, but it wasn't with drugs. They played a low frequency sound throughout the vault that caused people to go crazy and become violent. It was the vault that had the musicians in it. So maybe it is something to that effect, but it isn't drugs it could be something more interesting. I mean these are experiments, and I think Vault Tech knows that drugs can make people go crazy without needing to test it.

It looks like another Vault is attached to theirs and it is from here that they find themselves murdered.

I have a theory why the ncr look less powerful. Perhaps the nukes from the divide did more damage to ncr than ulysses and courier thought, potentially giving the brotherhood an edge in the battle between ncr
I think you’re spot on… the courier could have destroyed in seconds what it took them years to build; which would mirror the over all theme of the series
There is no canon ending for the DLC or the main FNV game as stated by the FNV dev team. Possible but highly unlikely without retconning FNV heavily
@@firstlast601 the fallout tv series is set AFTER new Vegas and will 100 % establish a canon ending for FNV… the development team for new Vegas has no say so in future canon
So if shady sands is still around or the ncr maybe they won’t the battle at Hoover dam against the legion but it’s a hollow victory since the nuke hit their nerve center that’s my two cents think of it what u will
The thing with me is I feel as though the NCR getting wiped would be really hard still because even if the nukes fell on them they still had large amounts of there troops in mojave because of their war with the legion I understand there leader ship would be taken out but generals in the mojave would still be around or am I just over thinking this because didn't Ulysses only or would have only nuked the NCR homeland and not the mojave?
The bottle the Ghoul is holding is some form of Morphine/painkiller. Ghouls have constant agonizing pain as a side effect of their radioactive mutation. That makes all of them notorious chem-fiends that search for any drugs they can get a hold of to stay loaded 24/7 and numb their nerves.
Please for the love of GOD I hope this show turns up good and not like some other shlock we've seen in the past couple years

Sadly, it looks like Bethesda had a lot of influence over the series. Which bodes not well for the story. I mean, they even kept the tragic mistake that was Fallout 4's "assault rifle" in there.
Great breakdown! @7:39 I think the 'bag' is actually Lucy's bedroll - it's the same colour as the bedroll shown on her pack as she sets out from the vault, and in this scene the bedroll is no longer strapped on her backpack (sorry if someone already suggested this thought!)
I'm guessing the Vault Tec poison bottle was used at the wedding in the vault. Maximus' power armor was probably scratched from the Yao guai attack.
I believe the gulper looking monster is going to be something completely new. My theory is that maybe a group was experimenting on axolotl (which are known for their regenerative tissue) with the FEV. Which could explain the human looking fingers in the monsters mouth. The group could have created the mutant in order to have a regenerative supply of human limbs (or possibly organs?) in an apocalypse. Which to a research and development group like the Institute would be invaluable.
Useless it’s gonna be the show verse of a snallygaster? Just a thought lol they have some of the same quality as the gasters in fallout76

@@lazwardazure716 It will be interesting to see where they went with it. Like this looks like it took place either before new vegas or around fallout 4 or after. The brotherhood after fallout 4 would have a pretty strong showing. The other option is before new vegas, since also in F4 they mention they used salvage from other ships to make the Prydwyn, so its possible this was before the brotherhood got their cheeks clapped.
@@Luftwaffe1O1 I hope. The problem is the NCR doesn’t look like they did in Fallout 2. With new buildings and new technology. The NCR was supposed to represent how fast humanity could bounce back (for better and worse). This doesn’t look like that. But if this is taking place during the NCR-Brotherhood war it could just be that the Brotherhood is beating the NCR at this point.

Ngl, the one scene with the yagui biting the power armor looked kinda goofy. I mean, power armor is meant to be like a tank, so watching it get "tossed" around looks funny to me. But then again, maybe the yagui is extremely strong. idk

I could be wrong here, but I having this feeling the Wilzig might be a synth, The way he is laid down (outside the shop beside Lucy) looks weird, especially the arms still sort of raised, the turret "seemed" to not hurt him, the way he talks, the way he injected himself, and the head that Lucy is carrying looks a lot like him. And what if the Ghoul's target bounty was Wilzig, since he it showed in the other trailer that he was escaping(?) a facility.
Now that makes sense as to why she'd carry around a head.
He is on the ground because he had his left foot blown off just above the ankle. You can see it in the scene where The Ghoul is approaching Lucy right before she tries to tranq him with the Syringer. Blood and bone make him look fairly human.

I think maybe you're under the impression that Walton Coggins character is an antagonist of sorts where i assumed he is more of a dark antihero type character. So it might explain why we see the dog with both Lucy and Cooper Howard.

If you look at the appendages flowing from behind the "Gulpers" head they look a LOT like the appendages on the head of an Axolotl which is a type of salamander. Gulpers are mutated salamanders. So it seems to me it is a gulper, just a a variant or something.

yeah the shady sands sign itself seems to be a reference/Easter Egg there considering the pre-war ruin city in the background there, assumingly LA.
especially since now we have the forested area confirmed to be in the area too, like it's a safe bet the yao guai attack on the knights is also in the griffith park.
The shots with the vault farm really remind me of the bunker from boy and his dog which makes me really excited to see the angle they take with it
I wonder if the Ghoul and Lucy are related? The little girl we see with him on horse back was probably his daughter. Being a Vault-tec spokes person, maybe his position in the vault was secured but surprise surprise his daughter's wasn't. So he chooses to have his daughter take his position as an occupant of the vault, and expects to die but doesn't. Hundreds of years pass where his wife and daughter are long gone. But he still wants to know their fate. He meets Lucy, realizes she's from that exact vault and wants answers but causes a misunderstanding by immediately trying to capture and interrogate her. Only to later realize she's one of his own descendants.
I had a similar thought. Seems likely.

I think Walt Goggins character is:
An actor, who happened to be doing movies, action packed ones like silver shroud (Fallout 76 icon) movies and did work for vault-tec which is why he is in the vault tec ad in tv trailer, then in many scenes in the trailer as a weird cowboy. His skills of quickdraw and aim come from an intro scene where you see him actively serving in the reserves in the military during the cold-great war. Then it pans back to pre-"present" day Then he happens to be doing a children's birthday party as a cowboy and then the bombs drop. He is in a position to save a child close to him in the heat of the moment, so he carries the one away to safety in the cowboy outfit (trailer scene). Then, out of a desparate attempt, Walt sees an old fridge some was throwing away that week, and he and the girl jump into the fridge (Fallout 4 reference) and have some material that was tested by vault tec to dispurse radiation that could leech into the ground, which is what the fridge would have been coated with in a weird opening scene. Then he survives wearing the cowboy suit as a ghoul 200 years later and has the skills to be a sharpshooter from being in the service since technology was so advanced for that time in alternative history, they could've made spartan-grade ground troops, and has the WW2 feel to it (could be captured in a flashback).
I think I may have just made a better opening first two episodes than Todd Howard could have.
Imagine what the thing the goul was drinking was F.A.V or a modified version and we see the enclave in a flashback

my theory has always been: Chairmen of Vault-Tec were somehow responsible for the nukes, driving people to the bunkers, providing Vault-Tec with plenty of organs to harvest.

I'm just hoping we get to see more lore-accurate stuff in the show. Like, BOS sporting more energy weapons, NCR Rangers in the backline shooting their AM Rifles at BOS Knights, and vague references from past games (especially from FO1, FO2, and FNV).
I really hope this NCR outpost is just run by less funded soldiers. They look terrible.
I really hope we see the more professional NCR soldiers that were held back in California. But the NCR soldiers in their desert combat fatigues and their Woodstock M16A1 rifles.

Its so cool seeing they chose to stay largely accurate to the setting from fallout. Seeing stuff like the hot rodder magazine in the background is so cool.
Ghouls often create new personas as time goes on. Look at the singer from the sierra madre dlc as he went through a few changes, handcock went through a dozen personalities, and who knows how many ghouls do that. You never know what you’re going to get in a ghoul. It’s their unstable brain chemistry as the radiation just screws up minds like crazy. You should know this by now.
Don't get hyped, don't get fooled. Remember Rings of Powah and Westworld from season 2 onwards.

I think people are looking into the Shady Sands sign too deeply. As the show runners have already stated the series will mostly take place with in LA. So I actually think this is just a pre-war sign sharing the same name as the NCR settlement

@@FearOgre The Boneyard is but it's located south of Central L.A. towards Inglewood and Compton. The show seems to be set up north between Santa Monica and downtown L.A. which is a few hours away from the Boneyard on foot (longer if we take into account the time it'd take after the bombs).

If this show reveals that the NCR had a massive collapse I wouldn’t be surprised because of the terrible political decisions they’ve made. High taxes, constantly taking what they want, being stretched too thin, heavy political corruption, etc etc. even if the victory at Hoover dam for the NCR is canon, they still has a lot of political problems.

If it's the East Coast BoS, then it's most likely that they have grown to the point where they can build their own power armor and the T-60 is a model that is easier to produce than the others.
It's basically an East coast aesthetic pasted to the West. Even the NCR has that grimy feel like they've been living in Megaton instead of a rebuilt LA.
