Hi Marilyn, I watched an Xtool video yesterday and they engraved a metal business card. They put the blank on a piece of wood with a little tape on the metal to keep it in place. Your dog tag came out very nice. I'm going to make one. I think XCS is very user-friendly, also. TFS
Hi! Great video. I have two questions: Would this work for sterling silver as well? I'm hoping to engrave a little pendant. The engraving is permanent, right? It won't wash off even if it isn't as deep as on wood? Thank you.
I've engraved on several metal things, but I don't think any were sterling silver. I did see another RUclipsr use the IR laser on sterling silver. The engraving is permanent and does not wash off. It is not really very deep on metal, but it is actually engraved and not just marked on the surface.
Hi Marilyn, Really great video! Thank you for sharing it with us! I have two questions about it: Do you think this can work on aluminium? Your small engraving took you more than 4 minutes. Is this a long time for this type of engraving? Can some XTOOL laser engravers go faster than this one? Thanks for your answer :)
I haven’t tried aluminum but I do know that xTool’s F1 with its Infrared laser can go faster than my M1. I have both lasers and the F1 is much faster for this type of project.

I have some of those metal business cards, so will give it a try. Thank you so much for letting me know about it. Yes, XCS is so so nice to work in.

Thank you Nicole!!!
Nice that came out great
Thanks so much, and thank you for watching!
Probably wont see this but but i wanted to ask if you had to coat the tag with anything before hand or just straight engrave onto it?
@@nathan1465 I don’t have to coat things. They go straight into the laser, though I often clean things with rubbing alcohol first.
Hey Marilyn and chat.
