Blocking road - Self-explanatory.
Eco-terrorism - Provocation that can only be stopped with violence (pushing or carrying them away can be assault).
False imprisonment - Not letting people through, and they're stuck in a traffic congestion.
Kidnapping - This could go on for days and the people there will have no resources to survive.
What the old man did was wrong and not justifiable, but it's COMPLETELY understandable.

Considering that if you go to prison, you're basically getting free accommodations, free food, electricity, water, clothing, security, and all of it is paid for by taxpayers, I'd say he probably didn't see it as a threat at all. Number 2, water/electricity/heat/etc isn't guaranteed. They WILL shut your heat off if they feel like it, or at least let it break down and drag their ass on repairing it. Also your only guaranteed security is that which you provide to yourself. It sounds like you've got this idealized view of prisons as if they're run by the book with rules and regulations enforced, no corrupt staff, etc. In reality that characterization couldn't be farther from the truth.

As a person who wants more to be done about climate change, the protesters here piss me off because it makes the rest of us look bad.

I don't think most of these people really believe in what they're fighting for. It seems more like they're paid to do it and just use the guise of "climate protesters" to someone political advantage. I think they're purpose can be either to make people hate climate change activists to hurt that cause in general, or possibly a smaller political goal like maybe from someone who didn't want that specific mine opening up so they can open it up next year or something like that. Indont have any proof for what I'm saying nor do I really care one way or another but as a casual observer both of these seem more likely to me than those people actually doing what they do to fight climate change. It's not that easy to remove burning debris from a road. This wasn't a climate demo it was a demo against the massive corruption carried out by the panama government. The construction workers union and teachers union are running the protests. When he first arrived there were only women at the protest and he shouted he would only speak to a man. They got two local men out of a surrounding house. They tried to argue with him and he shot them. Unfortunately hand guns are illegal to have in Panama so they weren't able to defend themselves (from his illegal gun) if they were then I suspect Panama would have a new government by now and this guy wouldn't have tried this.
Who the fuck cares what they said? Even when taunted or whatever other BS you may think of, that SOB killed two people in cold blood! I don't care that he threatened deadly force against people fighting a corrupt government selling drilling rights to a foreign power, he is wrong.

Please google this before writing. What the trade unions are protesting about is the fact that somehow the Panama government gave the contract to run the mine to a Canadian company at a quarter of the market rate. Also when it's illegal to give contracts to foreign companies. Panama is basically bankrupt and the government members have been bribed to allow a Canadian company to steal up to 10 billion dollars.
Sounds like the entire country was basically against it, and the government went "nah" and ignored democracy. It's not necessarily about strip mining, but bribery and exploitations of resources.

The thing to understand is that climate activists, especially the young ones, don't see themselves as living to the age as this fellow who just shot a couple of them. They're willing to fuck around because they're certain that 'find out' is around the corner regardless of what they do.

I am from Panama. I just want to clarify something. It was not about climate, at leat not all of it, it was mainly about corruption. People had national flags and were chanting slogans anti the current government (wich is the same center left party that ruled us during the millitary dictatorship in the 80s) The thing is, not only the treaty that the whores that we have as a government signed with the mining company was very unconstitutional, it was also a terrible deal for the country and we were and still are not having it. I don't know why this story got told in america from this stupid perspective where it was about just climate.

In North Carolina we have NC House Bill 330 where you can legally plow through any protest with your vehicle. It’s the most based law ever and why we don’t have too many people blocking our roads anymore.

It looks like most people didn't look too much into what happened, huh? Those people weren't climate protestors. Alot of people use that video but they got what was actually happening wrong. It's kind of like that video of this woman getting beaten by cops for protesting against a new state law, and people posted it as feminazi gets destroyed.
These people were Panamanian nationalists who were protesting the Canadian ownership of their mines. It's alleged that there is a Canadian monopoly of most of the mines in Panama, and that Canada has polluted their water from the mining process and driven people off their land. That is what they were protesting and while I disagree with them blocking the road, people should know their actual cause.
I also get the feeling that the guy who shot the two people had watched alot of videos of climate protestors and climate protestors blocking roads, and so when he got caught in a roadblock by protestors blocking the road he just assumed they were climate protestors, and so he shot them. Maybe if he knew what they were actually protesting he wouldn't have shot and killed them.

Let me get something straight. The climate activists breaking shit, throwing paint and food cans and vandalizing shit to get attention are in the wrong in their actions. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if their groups are backed by big oil because what they're doing is doing the complete opposite of garnering support for climate activism. It's taking away any credibility the movement has and painting every protester as a can-throwing mongoloid.
But killing two people over a roadblock is morally unjustified. No matter how much you hate climate protesters, it doesn't change the fact that in this situation there was no threat on Kenneth's life. By definition this was a nonviolent protest, albeit an annoying one, but I don't agree with indiscriminately murdering people over shit you don't like because that's how we devolve into animals.
The fact people are making light of this situation and cheering on a deranged 70 year old who shot two people in cold blood because of a roadblock speaks volumes about contemporary barbarism. "It's okay because it's funny" until somebody shoots and kills someone you know over nothing and suddenly it's a horrible tragedy. Delusional, detached man children hiding behind a screen are the only kinds of people I can imagine laughing at this.

Also, they were not climate activists. Pretty much the whole country was protesting against the mine. If you actually took the time to do some research, you would find out that the situation is a whole more complicated than "Bad climate activists block the road".
This was a historical moment for the country.
Also, the mine was absolutely responsible for a lot of death and disease that has been happening since its opening. In that region, Donoso and some other areas from Coclé, the index of births with congenital disease has skyrocketed. The index of people with kidney problems has also skyrocketed.
If you go into Google Maps, and look at the place, it is as big as the nearest biggest city. You can also see that the river they use to dump their chemicals is of a whole different color, and it obviously ends up at sea, despite the area being designated a protected area for biodiversity.
I hate climate activists that do stupid shit like trying to fuck up the Mona Lisa, or commit vandalism, just as the next door person would, but this was different. We even had infiltrated operators from other countries trying to incite the chaos in order to reach a coup. This was, again, a very complex situation.

And yes I also agree the US Government as well as other governments like China. Have a Long History of turning a blind eye to private companies illegally dumping chemicals and destroying the environment. They also incite violence against these types of protesters and it wouldn’t be a shock to see members of the CIA in bed with the Corporations. Calling for Violence against the protesters or paying homeless people to commit acts of violence at a peaceful protest to Discredit Legitimate protesters. Finally the CIA also has used MK Ultra to create an army of people who will follow any instructions to the letter and not remember what they have done afterwards. However again if you’re going to make such a claim you need to provide the proof to back it up. and as you can tell I do support some level of environmental protests. I don’t want the Government cutting down forests to house illegal immigrants who can’t speak English and compete for Jobs and lower the wages of everyone else as well as contribute to higher taxes higher prices on goods and crime. Many people who fund these Corrupt companies use a Variety of tricks to protect their identity but some don’t because they don’t care if people know who they are. and even if they fund it discreetly they often do a bad job hiding their identity for example using a company that’s publicly listed as a company owned by said billionaire to fund a corrupt mining company in Africa or Mexico. In those cases it’s easy to find out who owns said company.
