mutant has basically ar-10 innards, receivers too might be more of the ar-10 kinda than 15, un sure of that, but bolt carrier and bolt are finished off the same parts as 10.
It's effectively an AR10 bcg and receivers shortened to 15 length to match the c.o.a.l. of the 7,62x39. Actually a really smart idea, I'd just like to see that rifle in 6,5 Grendel, because it's also known to break bolt lugs in a gouged out 15 bolt.
Yeah, from what I understand about the Mutant you can utilize AR-10 parts (for the most part but not every part, some are proprietary), such as the fore-end/rail, muzzle devices, buffertube & stock, etc., etc.
Take a look at their MKW15 Grendel. It's on the anvil platform which is essentially the same concept, but with a magwell that accepts standard ar15 mags. The anvil platform also hosts the 458 Socom round....
How you like the Mutant? Love mine. May I suggest getting a POF .308 roller cam pin to drop in place of the mutants stock cam pin. It smooths up the action and takes the stress of the inside of reciver where the cam pin rides. Mine was galling the aluminium so I found it works to keep it going longer.
@@joshbrown1381 so far I am really happy with the Mutant, I have only used Magpul mags since I sold all the AK mags I had when I got rid of the POS C39V2. I havent had a malfunction yet, mine is the AKM model with the milspec trigger, I believe the people that reported light primer strikes is a direct result of the match trigger not being able to set off tbe military primers. I will definatley pickup a POF roller cam, thanks for the heads up.
Good to hear. Just heads up. Mine had some issues with 3rd gen pmag not fitting so well had to mod them to lock up. Don't know if it's because my Mutant was early production or the pmags were early production.
I've only had issues with setting off wolf primers. I think it's the Geissele SSA trigger not the rifle. Runs tulammo, brown bear, silver bear, Red Army, Monarch(Academy) even lightly rusted cases.
I’ve had my CMMG Mutant for almost two years and could not be happier with it. Accurate, runs flawlessly and only 20 cents per squeeze of the trigger.
Can it run steel cartridges?
Daryl Weston - My Mutant runs 123gr. Wolf steel ammo and the Tula 154gr. steel ammo like it was made for the gun. Never had any issues whatsoever.

I have an ar47, which is the same as an ar15, but shoots 7.62x39, most difficult thing about it is finding good working mags
Ivan, C Products Defense has AR15 mags in 7.62x39 that fix the feeding issues.
