Hey yall, this is a nice to know info, if you are considering to buy this BG3800, I would recommend to save it for =BG3850=, it is an upgrade version, the only difference is the cover, it is tacky whcih maintains nice grip, and the new cover is softer in comparison with BG3800.
Thank you, needed this! Couldn't find any review videos like this, although would have also liked to see the ball dribbled in slow mo or something like that
Picked up the Molten BG3800 in size 5 for my son, as his first basketball. Great looking basketball, especially for the price I paid! I must say, it is not very grippy though, compared to the Wilson NCAA I got for myself.. ;) Thanks for the very informative content, and the recommendation(s)!
Oh yeah that Wilson NCAA is going to be a step or two ahead of the BG3800 as far as quality. But funny enough, I'd bet money that his 3800 will last longer than your NCAA will over time.
I have a Molten GR7 I'm playing on an outdoor double rimmed hoop and it has a bulged in some areas. I hope it wasn't a fake I purchased from an official sports outlet. Make sure you guys buy quality and look after it only pump to correct psi, don't kick, or do half court shots specially in cold weather.
Personally I don't think so. The replica is a great basketball don't get me wrong, but I think that the 3800 is one of the best outdoor basketballs there is. I think because we don't use Molten in the United States it's odd, but internationally I think a lot of people would agree.
I'm really new to basketball and have only used the Adidas All Court (with the gold trim) as a kid, and later the Nike KD Full Court (with the silver trim). Can anyone tell me how those perform relative to the popular choices so I can start afresh with a good point of reference?
@@Love2Hoop Hey thanks for doing this! I'm actually looking for an indoors/outdoors ball. Personally, I prefer playing indoors due to the hot climate where I stay, but outdoor courts here are more readily available :)
@@Love2Hoop After looking through some reviews on balls within my budget range, what are your thoughts on the Spalding Zi/o (Excel/NBA?) vs the Molten BG3800? Are there any others you'd consider more suitable or within the same ballpark? (Yes, enjoy the pun :p)
Nobody makes videos on what the best outdoor basketball is, even online it’s hard to find much. With that being said, what’s the best? The general consensus i’ve found is that it’s either the Spalding Zi/O, Wilson Replica, or the Molten. If anyone knows anything about which is the overall best then let me know!
That's because there is 3x as many outdoor basketballs as there are indoor ones so it would just be too difficult to get through ALL of them. Each brand has at least 5 different outdoor types, so you got close to 20+ different outdoor basketballs. My personal preference is the Wilson Replica, but that's on asphalt and painted concrete. Straight concrete you might want to go Molten GM7x, and I've never used the Spalding Zi/O
The Wilson replica doesn't bounce quite right. Has a very nice grip, it's very resistant to wear but just doesn't bounce like other balls, no matter how much air I've pumped.
This and the BG4500 are like the Wilson Evo here, in Indonesia. You‘ll find this ball at literally every court and pretty much every single hooper owns at least one of these😂 Love your channel btw, glad I found you
I prefer the 3800 but that's mainly because I feel like the handling is the best outdoors. It's heavier than the Authentic Series, but I think it'll hold up better over time.
A comparison of those three is a little tough because the Forge and Jet are similar but way different than the BG3800. I personally love my 3800 for outdoors.
I just ordered this. How's it holding up after a few months? Also. I've read some reviews that this ball runs a bit smaller for a size 7 but overtime it expands.
It's really weird, but I was using mine yesterday for two hours and when I picked it up I had to double check to make sure it was a size 7 and not a 6. It feels like a 6.5 but when you play with it you can't really tell the difference. It's still holding up well, and might be one of the only basketballs you can under-inflate and it's still good.
@@Love2Hoop Yo what’s up thanks for responding I think I’m gonna just take a chance on it buyer reviews seem legit price is good too I’ll let you know how it goes
It's really based on preference and the court. If it's an asphalt court, I would say the replica all day long. It's going to hold up really well out there because that's a cleaner surface. A concrete court is gonna get dusty, so the Molten would be better for that because even when it's a little dirty it still plays well.
I used Wilson replica game ball for outdoor that's terrible experience if the court is very duty ball will can't control well when you dribbling it made me disappointed so maybe I'll give a chance for molton next ball but Wilson replica still a good ball in clean court
Better than buying an ugly ball that doesn't work! I always ask what kind of surface you'll be playing on because that usually dictates which direction to go as far as basketball. BUT the Molten works great on any surface, so it's a great choice but the Wilson NCAA JetPro is also a good fit.
I would choose this over the encore, but that's more personal preference. The encore is a great basketball, especially for beginners outdoors but I think the Molten holds up really well.
I wanted a Molten and primarily hoop outdoors so this is good news. What's the other ball? I got the King James 4 panel one and it's decent so far. Like the Nike Elite just a little more papery feel. @@Love2Hoop
I’ve been looking for outdoor balls that are the most similar to the Wilson evolution in terms of weight and feel. Does this weigh and feel similar? If not, what other ball do you recommend

The last couple times I went looking to buy it from the Molten site it was sold out. Way too scared to buy one second hand since there are a lot of fakes out there.
There are a lot of places you can buy the 3800. Amazon, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc. I haven't found any other place for the 4500 other than the Molten site itself.
For sure a year. I've used it only a couple of times outdoors, but the material seems to be holding up as well as it did the first time I got it. Keep it mind this was pre-owned when I got it so my guess it's been used a lot.
I’ve never used the XG but looking at it and reading about it I’d say that’s the better ball for outdoor use. The replica ball would be better for indoor out of the two 🤟🏾
Honestly, outside of the official nba ball I'm not a big fan of spalding basketballs. The TF-1000 is where I stop with Spalding, and a lot of my issue is their basketballs inconsistency in bounce and weights from series to series.
Great question. The older TF500 wasn't the greatest but it was good enough. I haven't used the new Excel TF500 but it looks like a much softer material, similar to the older Wilson Highlight basketball. My guess is that it's a good basketball.
Definitely worth it and yours will be in better condition than mine so I’m sure you’ll like it. It’ll take some time to get used to it but you’ll be good
I'll be honest, I haven't played with a TF 250 outdoors so I'm not sure how it would hold up. Indoors I thought it was ok at best, but brand new it was sticky but dust would collect on it just as fast.
Great question. I haven't gotten a chance to use the 4500, but the biggest difference is that the 4500 has a composite cover. The 3800 doesn't have that cover.
@@air_freak2358 Of all time?? Damn that's pressure, but personally my favorite is the Wilson Highlight. Any indoor/outdoor basketball made of composite leather is a go and that one I still use outside.
Yeah, but honestly every basketball bounces differently and all Molten basketballs take a little time to get used to. This basketball in particular though feels like it has an extra layer of rubber inside that creates extra bounce, even on the lightest dribble.
No, do not use indoor game balls like the Wilson Evo NXT, the new Spalding TF-1000 legacy, Baden Elite, or the Molten BG4500 outside cause the life span will last short.
Oh my god! I really enjoyed this review. I'm from India and my team plays local indoor tournaments here, which follows FIBA rules. Which FIBA approved ball(s) would you suggest to use in tournaments (doesn't necessarily have to be molten)??
I'm curious to see how the Molten BG45 and 5000 feel because of the composite leather material. One I've been really interested in seeing is the Spalding Euroleague ball, that might be the one.
I had not heard about those basketballs until you dropped this comment. Do they have a website, because all the options to buy I see are on amazon, is that where you got yours?
Great video! Quick question. We play with either the 3800 or 4500 and i find it really slippery when i start sweating. I want to get one to train with it so i can get used to it. Would you say this is the most slippery ball? Thanks so much
I would say that when your hands are dry, the NBA official basketball feels the most slippery IMO. I know what you mean with the 3800, but I've found that once my hands got sweaty the basketball got better.
And honestly, I think it does better outside than it does indoors. The ball is good indoors don't get me wrong but I think it's one of the few that actually can hold up well outdoors too.
And what about deterioration of a 4500 on a rough surface? It woul be better o r worse? I'm confused because gg7x was indoor/outdoor (and more appreciated then these new 4500 described only for indoor). I'm on purchasing...
That FIBA ball is really the OG Wilson Wave basketball that had mixed reviews when it dropped. A lot of people didn’t really like the ball but the younger demo did so they must have moved it to FIBA 3x3 who adopted it as their own.
I don't know if it got deleted by RUclips, but I did pin someone's comment 6 days ago because they wanted some help on what would be a good outdoor ball. Wanted anyone watching from the hoop community to chime in on it
Do you stil reccomend this ball for indoor/outdoor play? I'm new to basketball and im searching for a good basketball that has good grip, a good bounce and is a composite leather ball that could last for a long period of time. I was thinking of buying a Wilson NCAA replica game ball but all the good Wilson basketballs are out of stock. Should I wait for them to come back in stock or should I just buy the Molten bg3800?
I would wait for them to come back in stock if you live in the United States. You'll get more use out of it because others might want to use it, the Molten might not get any more play than what you put into it.
The bg3800 is a high quality indoor outdoorball but i use mine for indoors only since its leather but the bg4500 is only a highquality indoor ball only

Honestly, outside of the official nba ball I'm not a big fan of spalding basketballs. The TF-1000 is where I stop with Spalding, and a lot of my issue is their basketballs inconsistency in bounce and weights from series to series.
@@antonsydorenko7572 but tf-500 it’s an leather ball what do you mean rubber ball
@@sozq9 Sorry, man. My bad. I wrote about T-500
That review is nice.
Is that the synthetic material? Or Leather?
Great question. It's a composite leather.
It's my birthday in a few weeks so I'm going to try and get two of the spalding nba official balls as I'm gonna miss the old ball.
You can still buy the nba basketball on Spalding right now, but my guess is once Wilson releases their new NBA ball the Spalding is gonna be gone.
Is Spalding tf500 good?
Great question. The older TF500 wasn't the greatest but it was good enough. I haven't used the new Excel TF500 but it looks like a much softer material, similar to the older Wilson Highlight basketball. My guess is that it's a good basketball.
Hey is the bg 3800 really different than the bg 4000?
Idk a lot about a BG4000 but I know that the 4500 is different from the 3800 mainly because of the top surface.
Is it better than the evolution for outdoors?
Quick question, do you know weather the NBA official game ball will still be made?
Wilson released their new NBA official series on the 29th. They sold out same day, but you can signup to get alerts when they’re back in stock. 👍🏾
I need 2 know well dis ball turn me in 2 Steph Curry or well it get me a little bit better at shooting
Shiiiiiet I’d pay however much for the basketball that does THAT! 🤣
@@Love2Hoop ok thx 😂 but can you do a review on the Wilson evo next Ball
Can you go over the bg 2000?
Nope. The BG3800 is the lowest I'll go for Molten outdoor basketballs
Jus bought it off the official site with shipping it came out to 70 but I think it’s gonna be worth
Definitely worth it and yours will be in better condition than mine so I’m sure you’ll like it. It’ll take some time to get used to it but you’ll be good
Hello bro!! i wanna know if spalding tf 250 is good for both indo/out use thxx so much!
I'll be honest, I haven't played with a TF 250 outdoors so I'm not sure how it would hold up. Indoors I thought it was ok at best, but brand new it was sticky but dust would collect on it just as fast.
I am struggling to choose between B7G3800 or B7G4500. If do you have a experience from B7G4500, what’s the pros and cons of that ball. Thank you!
Great question. I haven't gotten a chance to use the 4500, but the biggest difference is that the 4500 has a composite cover. The 3800 doesn't have that cover.
BG3800 = synthetic cover (Polyurethane most likely) and can be used indoors and outdoors, BG4500 is composite leather and should be used indoors only
only downside to this is that its very slippery for outdoor use
What is the best outdoor Ball?
Of all time
@@air_freak2358 Of all time?? Damn that's pressure, but personally my favorite is the Wilson Highlight. Any indoor/outdoor basketball made of composite leather is a go and that one I still use outside.
Hi,
My bg3800 becomes so round and slippery, compared to deep channel ball like Wilson, it's hard to dribble outdoor. Does it happen to you as well?
Yeah, but honestly every basketball bounces differently and all Molten basketballs take a little time to get used to. This basketball in particular though feels like it has an extra layer of rubber inside that creates extra bounce, even on the lightest dribble.
@@Love2Hoop The feel of bounce is alright. But the slippery surface makes it difficult to dribble and far less grippy than Wilson
@@a3090102735 agree
@@a3090102735 the new ones are little bit slippery, feels like wax on them, but after sometime it should have more grip
How does the grip feel after a year?
Great question! Honestly I would say it’s pretty similar to how it felt when I first got it but to be honest I haven’t used it a ton yet.
@@Love2Hoop Thanks for the reply.
Hi, I play on outdoor cement court. Do you think playing with indoor only composite leather ball is a good idea?
No, do not use indoor game balls like the Wilson Evo NXT, the new Spalding TF-1000 legacy, Baden Elite, or the Molten BG4500 outside cause the life span will last short.
My from Amazon came very slippery
Take it outside for a few days and that initial top protection layer should rub off
@@Love2Hoop I'm on way to do this
BG4500
Still the best outdoor ball?
I definitely prefer it still.
@@Love2Hoop got mine off Amazon I think it’s legit
better than wilson jet pro? nice vid bro
Ooow that’s really based off preference. I personally like it more than the jet pro but the molten is easily heavier.
Did you play on concrete court?
Played on an asphalt court. Whatever that green painted court stuff is made out of is that
Playing on a hard surface like that can really take a toll on your knees. And that can affect your shooting percentage, especially from the 3pt line.
love this
A lot of international love for this basketball
Is this as good for indoor as outdoor?
Personally I think it works both places but it's BETTER outdoors than indoors.
in your opinion which is better for outdoor. Wilson Authentic Indoor/Outdoor, Jordan Hyper Grip, Nike KD, wilson ncaa?
The BEST is probably the Wilson indoor/outdoor. But my PERSONAL preference would be the NCAA Replica
What do you think about kuangmi balls? Love their designs. It's a great ball so far 1 week out.
I had not heard about those basketballs until you dropped this comment. Do they have a website, because all the options to buy I see are on amazon, is that where you got yours?
Fake Moltens are trash! So absolutely beware when purchasing Molten basketballs specially online.

In rhe Philippines baskwtball asso, molten is the ofcl ball usually made in Thailand
I didn’t know they were made out there. Spent 6 weeks in Thailand about 10 years ago and loved it. Can’t wait to go back
Mostly in our entire Asia continent we used molten balls🙂love our country bro!!!!!
@@Love2Hoop got it thanks for help👍
When I look the 3800 is an indoor ball only....
And honestly, I think it does better outside than it does indoors. The ball is good indoors don't get me wrong but I think it's one of the few that actually can hold up well outdoors too.
Nah 4500 is the best indoor outdoor
2 levels higher just right below the 5000 real leather but around the same price as 3800
And what about deterioration of a 4500 on a rough surface? It woul be better o r worse? I'm confused because gg7x was indoor/outdoor (and more appreciated then these new 4500 described only for indoor). I'm on purchasing...
Check Fiba 3x3 ball
That FIBA ball is really the OG Wilson Wave basketball that had mixed reviews when it dropped. A lot of people didn’t really like the ball but the younger demo did so they must have moved it to FIBA 3x3 who adopted it as their own.
Hi Love 2 Hoop is it me or was my comment deleted not mad I was the previous pinned comment but I find it weird that I don’t see it
I don't know if it got deleted by RUclips, but I did pin someone's comment 6 days ago because they wanted some help on what would be a good outdoor ball.
@@Love2Hoop Oh okay thnx!
This wore down after few months. Should've got the 4500
Did you use it outdoors or indoors mostly?
@@Love2Hoop Will it wore more down if you use it outdoor?
If u use the bg4500 it will wore down within weeks
The bg3800 is a high quality indoor outdoorball but i use mine for indoors only since its leather but the bg4500 is only a highquality indoor ball only
impossible to find!
I think you can find them on Dicks Sporting Goods online
molten is a good ball but looks very ugly like a volleyball i dont know why i dont like this ball
I just got the 4500 and I LOVE the look of it. I think it's a preference thing honestly, because there are a few basketballs a lot of people like that I just can't seem to get with
