Just bought this car. Thomas's excellent, thorough, fair & entertaining reviews helped make mind up. Was hugely disappointed with the ID 3 and nothing much else was interesting to me. Guess you could say, I'm BORN again.

The amount of times I’ve opened rear window in my Golf instead of front!!! I might actually like the window buttons 😆

It’s still very close to the id3. I mean I have the ID3 and I’m surprised it’s not more different really. What im keen to know is the software .. which remains a total mess on the id3…

I actually like the controls. Version 3oght have fixed lag. User interface is good in my opinion. The sliders on infotainment screen are not a problem really. HUD renders the small screen secondary for me (largely). But maybe it's because I embrace {and drive change in my occupation) is why I like it.

Well done on the review 👍

I’m looking two years ahead for when my BMW i3s is no longer available. My 0-100 is 6.4seconds in the real world. Should I shortlist the Born or will I be disappointed? I know that I will miss the one pedal driving and real buttons for the climate etc. I’m not bothered about the range just the sportiness. Or should I buy the last i3s off the production line next year? What do you think?

Depends on budget... Kia will have EV4 out & Genesis GV60 with e-boost.
Cupra El-Born in Blue looks great.

The infotainment system, haptic controls on the steering wheel, and the touch-sensitive sliders are a joke. I love the looks of the Cupra Born and the fact that it's RWD, but the infotainment and controls are unacceptable - probably the reason why I won't buy one unless VW/Cupra fix these issues. Good video review - not many reviewers have actually driven these cars enthusiastically. It may be a warm hatch rather than hot, but the linear performance will make it decently quick across the ground.

Thanks for the great detailed review. ID3 have an optional sports suspension(lowered by 15 mm) and progressive steering. With this options, do you think ID3 can also achieve the same level sportiness compared to cupra born?

It's just cruel that this isn't coming to the USA

The other elephant in the room with the Cupra Born and ID3 is the limited top speed of 99 MPH, no reviewer mentions it! Whilst it may not be important to most people, why the lack of transparency?
I presume this is due to an RPM limit on the electric motor? Tesla managed to combine good acceleration and top speed in their EV's - I'm curious to know what engineering compromises/limitations the VW platform has .

Infotainment system 🙈 like the other Cupra car's and VW's it's terrible. I know I've lived with one for the last 4 months
