Don't forget; the Perseids are in August. Getting the word out a month early is good. Too many times I have come across an ad-video-new story after the fact.
had a cat named Percy and he sadly not sick and got even worse throughout the weeks and when I went to go visit my family he looked lifeless when I picked him up and he sadly passed throughout the night I woke up and his body was outside on a chair and this meteor shower will keep my memory of him😔 rip Percy
In Northwestern Europe we actually CAN miss it, because it has been mostly cloudy with lots of rain for weeks now. Besides, my country is so densely populated with a lot of light pollution that only the brightest meteors will be visible to most of us if it happens to not be cloudy.
I remember when the Perseids were here in last year too if i'm right. About of the name Perseids it sounds fun in finnish because there's Perse on it's name what means butt in finnish yes you heard it right and this is not a joke! I always look up in the nightsky defienitily in autumn and winter because it's not the perfect time to watch stars now in summer in july, but can I see stars here in Northen Europe now in a half of july at the midnight and after it? I really hope to see the meteor shower once in my lifetime because haven't never see the meteor shower like Leonid my favourite or this Perseids because there's almost always a cloudy sky so you really can miss the meteor showers sadly easily, but gladly there's not always a cloudy sky and I might have a chance to see the meteor shower Perseids now and how romantic that would be to watch this with my new grilfriend? 😍🌠

@@CMansfield Yeah, Ohio (at least where I live) is the same way. Whenever there is any sort of astronomical phenomenon that I would like to see, the sky is completely overcast. 🤷♂️
It’s the night of the 11th into the 12th and yes there will be moon at 40% but it will set at around 10:30 pm and all the moonlight pollution will go away after that making it perfect to see the meteors. Hope this helps
Here in Ohio we didn't see a thing. Then in Columbus we had clouds. Nothing new Ohio is not a good place for astronomers. Too damn many clouds I want to move to utah

And if it's cloudy, yes you can miss it.
Yeah like always here where I live in Northen Europe it's cloudy sky :D
Keep looking at the constellation Perseus. You can't miss it.
Is the constellation Perseus a BIG Star Constellation? My favourite is Leo the Lion!
Thanks for reminding I know it’s been a few days
Pronounced "PER see id" (not "per-seed")...fyi.

@ColettesGarden The narrator is not NASA.
NASA has had to corrected numerous times since the 1960s...

You should look for a list of all the different meteor showers that occur throughout the year to see if you can watch those also

@@ITelcontar6 yes you’re right, absolutely appalling!
Thanks for jinxing it for me. Whenever I am directed somewhere and the person tells me “You can’t miss it” I inevitably do. ☹️
Same here😆
My experience for the past 50 years in Minnesota and must see celestial events has been cloudy skies and/or rain and/or snow. 98% of the time. 🙄
Jinxed me too. Now it’s over for me! But I’ll look anyway!

is the peak this year not in august 12-13. and these days moon illumination is like 40-50% pretty high compared to other years ?
