The funniest thing is hearing "the brain may be interpreting the time" xD the heck it does, it's just a part of the whole illusion, it doesn't do anything external to the world. Consciousness, maybe, but then, maybe not 🤪
If time is an illusion and merely an emergent property what happens to compound interest. Some of us are nearing retirement. Inquiring minds want to know.
Time doesn't exists. It's just human invented term for motion. This is why we won't be having any time travelers any time soon unless somebody can reverse the motion.
The concept of time as an illusion has fascinated scientists and philosophers for centuries. Recent advances in physics, particularly in the realms of relativity and quantum mechanics, suggest that time does not exist in the linear, universal way that we commonly experience it. Instead, time may be a human construct, a way of organizing and making sense of the universe. Here’s a closer look at the idea that time might not exist in the way we think: Our everyday experience of time is deeply tied to its passage: past, present, and future. However, Einstein's theory of relativity disrupted this notion by showing that time is not absolute. Instead, it is relative, influenced by the speed at which an observer is moving and the presence of massive objects. For example, time slows down near massive gravitational bodies, a phenomenon known as time dilation. Astronauts aboard high-speed spacecraft would age more slowly than people on Earth, illustrating that time flows differently depending on circumstances. In quantum mechanics, the concept of time becomes even stranger. At the subatomic level, particles do not behave in a linear fashion. They exist in states of superposition, where they can be in multiple states at once, and their behavior seems unaffected by time as we know it. Quantum entanglement, where particles interact instantly regardless of distance, further challenges the notion of a time-bound universe. Some scientists propose that the distinction between past, present, and future is a cognitive illusion. According to the "block universe" theory, past, present, and future all coexist simultaneously in a four-dimensional structure called spacetime. From this perspective, time is a static dimension, and the flow of time is simply how humans perceive it. Carlo Rovelli, a theoretical physicist, argues in his book *The Order of Time* that time emerges from our interaction with the universe rather than being a fundamental property of it. In his view, the laws of physics, at their most basic level, do not include time as we understand it. This challenges how we understand cause and effect, memory, and even identity. If time is an illusion, what does that mean for concepts like free will, progress, or change? Philosophers have long debated these questions, and the scientific view adds new layers of complexity. Despite these theories, time remains an indispensable part of human life. We use it to structure our days, measure change, and coordinate activities. Even if time as we know it is a construct, it serves a practical purpose in helping us navigate the world. Exploring the idea of time as an illusion invites us to rethink not just the nature of the universe but also our place within it. It challenges us to question our perceptions, embrace uncertainty, and seek deeper understanding of the fabric of reality. While time may not exist as we think, the journey to comprehend its mysteries is timeless.
Nice comment. I wish more people would be interested in such and similar discussions. Internet was made to make our lives more complete and easier, but it has become mostly filled with useless people who compete in degrading others.
How does radioactive decay fit into the universe if time only exists in our brains? Until we can figure out how to go in the opposite direction in the 4th dimension, I will argue time is not an illusion unless everything else is an illusion as well.
If time doesn't exist then entropy doesn't exist. Obviously entropy exists so that means time exist. Ok the way we measure it is a human construct but the arrow is still a thing. Its comical because if time isnt a thing then I guess we live forever.
No one said time doesn't exist. It's that the way we experience it is incredibly limited and it's more of a shadow in the same way gravity is. Honestly they're probably higher dimensional properties that can't be expressed adequately in the way we experience the universe. It's like The Cave but with universal properties
@@aesop2733 the title of the article calls it an illusion aka fake aka doesn't exist. Time is just as important as space itself and if you were able to observe our universe from outside of it time would act like space and space would act like time. Thats why Einstein called it space/time. A lot of what this video was saying is contradicting the title.
@WideCuriosity but its an actual thing and if it wasn't the sun wouldn't eventually burn out and you would live forever. This all sounds like that dumb sim theory that says the universe is a simulation without knowing what its simulating. There's like zero evidence for any of these things outside of circumstantial math equations. You cant call something an illusion when your bound by the laws of the illusion its idiotic. High end theoretical hypothesis are interesting when there's at least some real world correlation this has zero.
@WideCuriosity what do you mean by emerge? I know time is relativistic but that doesn't make it an illusion that emerges even if time travel were possible. It would just mean that you could never go back to your original time since it already happened. Im sorry but these theories make absolutely no sense. If time is an illusion then were all an illusion and the whole consciousness thing with quantum spin observation wouldn't be a thing since consciousness would be an illusion too. The level of contradicting with this theory is comical.
That’s one aspect. Another is the arrow of time. Things changing from low to high entropy. You can’t unscramble an egg, or unbake a cake, because entropy makes it extremely difficult. Another is the impact of mass in space (space and time are one thing, as Einstein explains). And the fact that photons (or anything massless) doesn’t experience time at all, arriving instantly from it’s own point of view due to time dilation. Another thing to consider is quantum entanglement. Things moving instantaneously across limitless spaces with locality. The well of time is deep.
Entropy increases ONLY in ISOLATED thermodynamically systems. INSIDE any ClosedSurface through which NoThing passes.... so, inside the/any DeSittis surface, entropy increasing, at a given state, the information ON this surface, being SQUARE, is OverPassed by the DESCRIPTION NECESSARY to figure ALL thermodynamic STATES IN the VOLUME, which is a CUBIC measurement and consequently, when DISORDER get at a specific "amount", the surface become INSSUFICIENT to describe ALL state from inside volume and ANOTHER ClosedDeSittis EMERGES. Is THIS the QuanticJump the "SOURCE" of TIME, when/where Entropy DEMANDS "MORE" DeSittis surface to DISCRIBE "WHAT" is INSIDE? Is Time emerging from QuantumJumps???
The new "Dynamic Present Theory" not only reinterprets our understanding of time but in so doing readily resolves outstanding mysteries in physics including entanglement, particle wave duality, and more! Worth checking out.

technically that would mean i should be able to see everyone that will ever pick their nose at my coordinates. same for them though kinda embarrassed now.
If we make the square root of negative one or i, the imaginary unit, the field that represents the reference frame taking the measurement and place it above the stress energy tensor in Einstein’s field equations (Ruv - 1/2Rguv = 8piG) instead of an expectation value (^) of a probability distribution (from quantum mechanics), doesn’t that solve the measurement problem and quantize the time? The field (of the complex plane), which could be called the time, measurement, conscious, or tachyonic field interchangeably is quantized by the reference frame taking the measurement and consciousness and those that have it becomes the metric the universe uses to measure or experience the time. Consciousness is the non-local universe and also the non-local hidden variable or “spooky action at a distance” that is collapsing the wave function of the energy system it is observing. Is this not the only way Einstein’s theories of relativity, quantum field theory based on the standard model of particle physics, evolution by natural selection, and Gödel’s incompleteness theorem can work and be compatible with each other? It is not a theory of everything but a step that has to be taken to understand ourselves better. The act of measurement is the same thing as the universe measuring itself. The tachyon, consciousness, and the imaginary unit all appear to have the same characteristics and relativity becomes the fundamental piece of quantum field theory being the quantization of this field, or time. The reference frame taking the measurement is simultaneously in the past, can anticipate the future, and take measurements in the present to take the time. It is not only there simultaneously but before anything that is moving through spacetime, including photons, making it faster than the speed of light. If you also look at the ‘beginning’ when all of the energy and time in the universe was condensed to a single reference frame, that is where the entanglement of all things happen, and this non-local reference frame (before time) measures itself to create the time. For a tachyon to measure itself or slow down to the speed of light, it would require an infinite amount of energy to do so, creating conditions similar to what we think of as the Big Bang. If this was the case, then everything (all energy) would fall under one wavefunction. Perhaps Euler’s Identity represents a moment in time (e^ipi + 1 =0) that can be derived from Einstein’s field equations through the imaginary unit i. Consciousness would then be something that does not emerge from spacetime but fundamental to it. Gravity becomes the curvature of this particle or energy, which we will call the tachyon, measuring itself and consciousness (the reference frames that have it) becomes the metric that the universe uses to measure or perceive the time. Simply there is no time without consciousness. Even if consciousness was emergent from spacetime, what configuration of particles, made of unconscious ingredients, creates a conscious one? Even if you figured out that a specific configuration of particles creates a conscious experience, how would you be able to verify that? You would have to be the experience itself, no? This relates to Gödel’s incompleteness theorem in which the fundamental truth can only be experienced not described by words or numbers. That which cannot be described by words or numbers is fundamental, it is assumed. Consciousness is fundamental. If consciousness is emergent, how did the universe know to assemble itself together in a specific structure that would inevitably lead to a conscious experience? What is the probability of that? That has to be zero, correct? How can the universe and spacetime work any other way if these theories are correct? Relativity is the quantization of time disguised as the square root of negative one or i. The imaginary unit, the square root of negative one or i, is the energy or field that relativity theory is describing. We are the reference frames of the nonlocal universe (i) experiencing itself and collapsing the wave function of time once we make a measurement. Our consciousness is the metric the universe uses to measure or experience the time, we are the reference frames or quanta of this fundamental field.
I had to throw that into chat GPT cause I'm a bit " mentally elevated", lol, and it came up with a lengthy but positive response. I'll take a good look at it tomorrow and refine the prompt to explain it to me like I'm a sophmore in college. I've never seen a response like this on youtube. You're on point.
i think therefore i am. As Descartes said. All is mind. Fundamentally this is not a new idea but applying it to physics is. To tie that notion to the imaginary unit i would imply that time is in some respect quantified, that is discrete. If so, linear continuous time is indeed an illusion, created by our mind observing a vast amount of discrete points in spacetime. If the universe is fundamentally conscious there is really only one mind. But it is infinitely complex because it contains all possible states. Our individual consciousnesses travelling through this mind are expressions of the one consciousness. Or expressions of God if you will. There is no better word for it. However, realising the similarity of these concepts ties in with many religious texts. Gnosticism in particular. We are individual thoughts in the mind of God. Our perception of the external world could be explained by entanglement. One constantly reflects the other.
@@keithsmith152 thanks, it was an idea from a retired particle physicist that was a professor at Vanderbilt and worked at CERN. Unfortunately he couldn’t write or advance a final paper due to complications from a neurodegenerative variant of PD. There’s more the theory can connect (entanglement, the equivalence principle, black hole measurement paradox, etc) but it would be a bit lengthy to explain for a RUclips comments section. I’m hoping someone intelligent and educated in physics can advance the idea or at least entertain the idea, especially now that we know the universe is nonlocal. I’m sure typing it into ChatGPT would help connect the concepts better in both a logical and mathematical sense, but would also contain errors as well.

of course it can, black holes do it all the time, even earth does it just on a smaller scale, you can even do it with an insanely small mass if you have enough energy, e=mc2. you can do it with an insanely large mass and a relatively small amount of energy. if time can be manipulated isn’t the question it’s by how much and under what circumstances. just as time dilates in this dimension how much more could it be possible that time dilates from one dimension to the next? these are some great topics of discussion. keep up the curiosity, do your own research and don’t wait others to teach you because there’s some things space agencies will never tell you. government is just like that, always has been
It seems time can be manipulated in a locality, but to "manipulate time", as in all of time in a particular narrative would require enough energy to overcome the expansion force of the big bang, which might be to say "everything". Seems like a lot of energy. Or perhaps it isn't narrative specific, but rather common to all narratives, if we view narratives as multiple paths or streams of time through the same medium, of which we only perceive the merest fraction with our 4-dimensional senses. Where might such energy come from, and what would be required to harness it?
@MartinSaintXXL even as a construct, idea, or perception, time exists. It may exist as an effect, but that still counts as existence. Get over it. Simply to deny something exists does not make it so.

`Been saying that since I was 12! Go to work in the morning through a school zone, you think your speeding. Come home through that school zone, you're going so slow you sit and watch as a snail passes you! Speed is a derivative of time over distance, and time ain't a Bloody Constant! Time doesn’t exist, it’s a measurement of movement. If one person was born at sea level and the other on a mountain, at the end of their life they aren’t living in different times - they are simply living in different perceptions.
@ - Change is movement. There’s no reason to believe that everything isn’t static. In fact, many scientists have described time as a series of static slices one after the other (like images on a movie reel). In this regard we have the appearance / perception of time inasmuch as the number of slices that can be measured through technology. This is provable more so than proving time actually exists. It even becomes more probable when we consider that light (similar to the light from a projector through a reel) is a constant [and measurable] until it engages a reflective medium. If light was not constant then I might consider that time actually exists.

Time is absolute. When they talk about time warping, it isn't actually warping. Instead, physical processes take longer due to interactions between them having to traverse more/less space. The faster an object is moving the more distance (for example) a photon would have to travel after being emitted from an electron. Like a baton race, if your target is moving, you have to catch up... the faster the object's moving the more distance the photon has to travel.

i think time all exist right now too but not all here at once. in the sense 10 mins from now happened, just not right here but further away in some kind of other dimension and that we are somehow moving in that dimension. i am guessing it has something to do with why time slow's down with gravity or speed and that those 2 things change our velocity in that dimension somehow changing the rate of time passing. i would assume it would be a spatial dimension but with only 2 directions kinda like being stuck in a pipe. by the way i don't take drugs anymore :P
@subspace666 No worries, bro. I am into sci-fi and Buddhism so I guess I partially understood what You said. My point was that if it's reincarnation, all the time already exists and you can be reborn in past, future, whatever.
Explain why gravity is weaker at the top of a mountain made of dense rock than at sea level, closer to the center of Earth? If gravity is caused by energy and mass then wouldn't gravity be stronger at the top of the largest mountain of mass and energy and not weaker?
Motion is the key here, what is motion? Space and time are not as we perceive them to be. They have degrees of motion that we cannot perceive. We exist in an energy gradient, and that energy gradient along with entropy, causes a type of slipping and that slipping is a motion and it also has friction with everything, the stronger the interaction, the closer the distance, too many things in too close of area causes time dilatation as they all have friction with each other. So that things are vibrating, they exchange the vibration and the intensity of the vibration interaction is space as we know it, and the friction of the vibration bringing harmony in vibration is time. The slipping keeps these things from coming in sync with each other. It's easier to envision if you think of time and space as being in oscillation with each other with each oscillation being one quanta of energy exchange.

My idea so I get to name it! What I mean is, no one has claimed it so I'm officially calling, "Dibs." Now that "V-ger" is outside our Sun's gravitational influence, in interstellar space, it's now in the Milky Way's faster moving, Interstellar Time or "Mikey's Time." This can be proven by turning off everything except its clock and transmitter. Have "V-ger" read time for as long as possible. This SHOULD show the flow of time speeds up the further away you get from any celestial bodies or source of gravity. Until you reach the Milky Way's time standard or "Mikey's Time." •Our sun's time bubble: "Terran Time" we know and have measured. In a lifetime, our head is one second younger than our feet. •Milky Way's time bubble or "Mikey's Time." The rate/flow of TIME outside any influence but within the Milky Way: We just got there and are still figuring what the difference is. I'd say time will increase in speed, now and until V-ger is outside the Ort cloud. •Local Group's time bubble or the rate/flow of time outside of any influence but within the Local Group: Name still open and unknown. Wild guess .08 P-22% to a couple seconds faster, maybe. Used just for reference. You know what I mean. •Outside any influence in the, "True Interstellar Time Standard." (or T.I...) ;-P This name is NOT up for grabs. The rate/flow of time is fastest here. (Time flows fastest here so it's best to use a motor boat and hold tight. Always applies when you're in T.I....) ;-P A minute is a minute in all. It's the rate/flow I'm talking about. Heck, rivers of time flowing differently might explain dark energy and dark matter. Its the differences in time could explain dark energy repels and dark matter attracts. Fun to think about. Anyway, the Milky Way's, "True Interstellar Time Standard," will be known as, "Mikey's Time." Pass it on, please and thank you.
People know from experience that time is both created by conscious thought and relative. Anyone who has experienced a traumatic event such as a car wreck, or even a glass of milk tipping over understand that during such events time seems to move in slow motion and their appears to be plenty of time to react and take action. In contrast, waiting in line at customs at the airport for example, the time spent doing so feels like an eternity. A day to a toddler is an eternity while a day to a senior citizen is a blink of an eye.
But is the clock of the universe constant? If the clock has been speeding up it would cause the red shift, making our distance calculations inaccurate.
The possible nature of time is a subject of intense debate. There is no one thing that scientists say, certainly not “time is an illusion”. This suggests a degree of certainty that does not exist.
'time' has to be understood as an independent entity and not to be correlated to space or gravitational energy. When we corelate them to other entities like space and gravitational energy we cannot understand the isolated nature of 'time'. For example to know and understand tigers, we should not see the tigers in circus or in a zoo. If we do so we cannot see the free movement and free activities of the 'tiger'. We see them as captive and domesticated animals. Tigers are to be understood as a free animals like they are seen in forest. Again theories on 'time' has changed from Newton era to Einstein era or periods. So again in future also there will be many 'theories' on 'time' that will come in future as and when 'time' is studied or understood as an independent entity. Next, 'time travel' is a phenomenon where one can go to 'future' and also to the 'past' like we move from one city to another city. Here 'time' has got a new identity in 'time travel'. Thanks for the video showing the significance 'time' in our lives.
Newton actually said he had to assume these things were invariable for the purpose of performing his calculations, he realised they may not be constants.
These physcists could learn a lot from Alfred North Whitehead whose 'philosophy of organism', developed in the early parts of the 20th century, already shows that time is an emergent property.
I understand the concept of time dialation, but still don’t know how it happens as time relates to curved spacetime, and so for now, I’ll keep my watch.

So if consciousness isn’t fundamentally electromagnetic due to the fact that photons don’t experience time as we do, how might this information change this conclusion?
Can anyone tell me why I am over the past maybe eight months constantly seeing the clock at double digits or four digits identical. Does this have any meaning? It’s getting really weird.
To assume that "we think" all the same about time and it's different than "scientists" it's a fallacy of thinking. Time is a measuring stick, like a ruler is for distance. Like a distance is a space between two points, time is a space between two moments. Any sense of flow or motion in an artifact of consciousness.
@@alicedeeper Then you would have to presume a definition for a “moment” and you don’t have a definition for that. Then you also have to prove that space itself is non-emergent.
@@sanderschippers4737 To view scale as infinite, in both directiions, is a mind boggling thought experiment, and just one we need to re-think the nature of existence. It's all a warp of consciousness 👾
Some scientists in their despair and arrogance think that time is emergent and not basic. Simply, the flow of time is not only straight but can also take the form of something like a double spiral like the galaxy on the plane. And time goes with the temperature, maybe its internal temperature or its friction depending on its speed. It means that an entangled photon has cooled along their distance in the same time with opposite time from the point of impact.!!! A point in time became like a length-time. That is, the photon is between before now and future within and the space around it!!! simply the temperature T is transferred overlight. this is the information!!!
@@xpusostomos exist hot and cold flow together... it builds a bridge where the entangled photons act as a unit. There is no space inside only a length of time. It builds a suppressed torsion of space outside. space is completely torn apart by the tunnel of time where the superheat of the colliding photon is cooled along the path of the tunnel. everything is thermodynamics, that's why temperature and time coexist.
Premise: pure energy is connected to the fabric of space-time, coinciding in the exact same coordinates. The closer one moves to the state of pure energy, the closer one exists to the fabric of space-time. Massive material objects, such as large planets, exist closer to the fabric of space-time than smaller mass objects, and the larger objects create more Time dilation. This culminates, in terms of degree, with black holes, which are pure energy held together by gravity. I imagine timelessness as a point where pure energy is absolutely coinciding with the fabric of space-time, existing in the exact same coordinates. There, time has ceased. The further one moves away from that suspended center, the more time speeds up. A disengagement from the marrow of the fabric of spacetime causes entropy. Without entropy, there is no forward march of time. Matter and its movement generally creates time passage, since matter is not in a state of pure connection to the fabric of space-time (unless it has exploded). Many intermediate forms of matter and energy create entropy, whilst pure energy exists upon a plane of timelessness since it is vitally connected to the space-time fabric at its most fundamental level. I think if Science found a way to home in on and enter the quick of the fabric of space-time time would appear differently. Quantum Effects like entanglement utilize a close connection between two entities to the fabric of space-time. Entanglement reveals that the close connection to space-time fabric creates a communication transfer that is faster than classical Physics estimations. As far as aging in humans goes, at a younger age more pure energy is passing through the bodies of younger people. This facilitates a closer connection to the fabric of space-time. As humans age, less pure energy passes through the body, resulting in a speeding up of time, through a disengagement with the fabric of space-time by the body on a regular basis.
If all particles and energy are compressed into a solid state that allows for no motion, such as in the center of a black hole, then there is no meaning for time and no way to measure it regardless if there is a being to perceive the passage of time or not. We can say that it still exists conceptually, but it would not exist in terms of an actual function in the universe. Therefore, we can speculate that the known universe is a void in the ethers that allows for the existence of time, particle physics and Newtonian physics
Maybe"time" is just a count down clock for decay to STOP interfering with "living" particles, i.e.whatever particle that moves on a permanent stable basis?!?!

That would be a heavy thought to think about; however, thoughts if equal to the energy, then can more similarly be considered as an exponentially greater force when amplified together as a multiplied focused intent? Unfortunately, that would equally be true if used negatively.
@wrippley103 although the demarcation is entirely subjective. It gets even messier when we consider the time dilations that can occur whilst in a dreaming state. Days, weeks, years can be experienced in a 30 minute dream. Ditto for certain hallucinogenics, and most intriguingly, this dilation has been experienced by many people in situations of life and death - specifically car accidents, and other scenarios that require more time investment into the choices that need to be made. These choices and consequent actions, invariably, are performed in less time than required to successfully survive the incident. Wrong choice, or too long to make the choice; you're dead. It's a phenomenon called 'bullet time'. Very much like Neo dodging the bullet in The Matrix.
This conforms to the Lutheran principle of everything that happens in our lives is preordained and we're just "along for the ride." Of course, one is supposed to make "good choices" but the choice that is eventually "made" was already baked in.
I find it fascinating that our concept of the Grim Reaper is the Titan Cronos the God of linear time. This character is destined to be removed from the Earth and thrown in a pit. Could that time be now?
String theory has been around since at least the 80s, it isn't emergent, and has done nothing except consume money, time, and resources that would have been better spent in other areas that actually have value and potential.
I used to have arguments with college friends about how there is no present because it has already happened so it must be the past and there's no future because there is no present. Nice to see that it may have had some basis on math and not the self important ramblings of a college student. 😊
Time is an experience that takes place between your ears. Entropy is a better explanation for how change takes place in the Universe. When Entropy is zero, there is no experience of the passage of Time, and as Entropy increases, Time appears to move faster.
YES...! So, what is Entropy actually? It’s many things. Here are some mathematical properties of Entropy: Entropy is the exponent of a positive constant. A positive constant greater than 1 and less than infinity and an exponent greater than 0 and less than infinity. Entropy’s governing equations are products of positive factors. Therefore, the logarithm of the governing equations are sums. Sums equal to the Entropy. The base of the logarithm used determines the constant in #1 above, or vice versa. Napier's constant “e” is a good choice, but nothing prohibits the constant from being exotic like Pi for example. Entropy is a maximum for discrete uniform distributions and less for discrete non-uniform distributions of the same discrete size. Entropy is primarily a mathematical object/tool and unlikely to have a physical existence. A mathematical tool based almost entirely on the logarithmic identities and rules. Entropy is a concise way to catalogue distributions and their associated interactions based on empirical evidence. Quantum Mechanics is an example of such a catalogue. Therefore, Entropy can be defined as a measure of the degree of “uniformness” of a probability distribution. IE, uniform probability distributions are endpoints like maxima and minima. And therefore, the maximum speed of light and the minimum of absolute zero temperature might just somehow possess uniform probability distributions; both would be associated with a maximum of Entropy. This may seem counterintuitive, but this is what happens when Entropy detects a discrete uniform probability distribution; and it makes sense that Maximum Entropy States are limits for further change. For example, if you put a bit of salt into a pot of water the salt will dissolve and diffuse into the water until it’s the same concentration everywhere within the pot. IE, the salt will evolve from a low entropy very non-uniform microstate to an eventual uniform microstate with a macrostate of equal salt concentration everywhere in the water; an entropy maximum. Heat does the same thing; might time diffuse into space in a similar manner?
Actual time is not the same as the perception of time. Perception of time is very useful but is irrevocably flawed. Perception will never match reality. However, the more accurate the perception, the more useful it is.
3:55 Two particles are not separated by a distance when they are entangled. Entangled particles are one system. not two systems. just one system. And there is no distance inside that quantum system between entangled quantum particles. it is one quantum system. not two. why is that so hard to understand.?
It seems time is a construct that we can only measure around our planet. Time itself is the one thing the Universe, that wants to stay forever, can not beat. We are within a giant recycle machine with the hopes of creating our own singularity before this universe reaches it's end. Time, real time, is measured via decay 😊
Ok, String Theory. Strings could not vibrate without time. Could not exist without time, but it isn't their movement that creates time because what would happen of you froze a string? Well, a different string would move. Relative to the frozen one. LQG says time is quantized. I can visualize it by comparing it to my dual monitors. Time can only exist in specific ways or quanta. Like a frequency. I have trouble with this because of the relativistic nature of time. I need more understanding here. WD Equation, to me is like saying the universe =1. Or =infinity. They are the same. I tend to follow super determinism.
The illustration of the gravity well continues to be depicted incorrectly. The bottom of the well should be shown at the center of mass of the object, not at its bottom. In the illustration, a body falling into the gravity well would end up at the bottom of the well, not on the surface of the mass.
Time is rate of change which requires motion, an outside observer, and a messenger to relay the information. A single object experiences no time nor does two single objects so time requires at least three to exist, maybe more.
I've always thought that it was speed that had an effect on time. The speed of the earths rotation; the speed of the earth around the sun; the sun and solar system moving around milky way galaxy; the speed of the milky way galaxy moving toward the great attractor; and the great attractor moving to wherever it's going etc. What about the fact that gravity also has an effect on time? Good point. all I can say about that is that as an object approaches a black hole, it speeds up, and time seem to slow down. I'll let the big brains figure that out.
Time is a recording of the position in space of the viewer relative to all other objects that reflect or emit light. Without matter and light to reflect or emit a position there would be no recording of any given position at any given moment. Therefore I suggest that time is relative to a viewer being able to record that position due to the rise of matter and light.....maybe😊

Here’s a closer look at the idea that time might not exist in the way we think:
Our everyday experience of time is deeply tied to its passage: past, present, and future.
For me it's a way to measure the distance in my life
Nice comment. I wish more people would be interested in such and similar discussions. Internet was made to make our lives more complete and easier, but it has become mostly filled with useless people who compete in degrading others.
Tell ChatGPT I said "Great comment".
How does radioactive decay fit into the universe if time only exists in our brains? Until we can figure out how to go in the opposite direction in the 4th dimension, I will argue time is not an illusion unless everything else is an illusion as well.
Someone working on their doctorate?
If time doesn't exist then entropy doesn't exist. Obviously entropy exists so that means time exist. Ok the way we measure it is a human construct but the arrow is still a thing. Its comical because if time isnt a thing then I guess we live forever.
No one said time doesn't exist. It's that the way we experience it is incredibly limited and it's more of a shadow in the same way gravity is. Honestly they're probably higher dimensional properties that can't be expressed adequately in the way we experience the universe. It's like The Cave but with universal properties
That's flawed. Emergent time comes with emergent entropy. In reality the block universe allows both illusions to emerge.

TIME is MOVEMENT of MATTER...
Sort of, yes. Movement is change and time is the concept we use to represent change.

So big bang “13.4 billion years old” TIME is also an Illusion 😅😅
I love that 😅😅
technically that would mean i should be able to see everyone that will ever pick their nose at my coordinates. same for them though kinda embarrassed now.

You got that off of cereal box
i think therefore i am.

Time can be manipulated. It's only a matter of time until the rest of you figure it out.
of course it can, black holes do it all the time, even earth does it just on a smaller scale, you can even do it with an insanely small mass if you have enough energy, e=mc2. you can do it with an insanely large mass and a relatively small amount of energy. if time can be manipulated isn’t the question it’s by how much and under what circumstances. just as time dilates in this dimension how much more could it be possible that time dilates from one dimension to the next? these are some great topics of discussion. keep up the curiosity, do your own research and don’t wait others to teach you because there’s some things space agencies will never tell you. government is just like that, always has been
It seems time can be manipulated in a locality, but to "manipulate time", as in all of time in a particular narrative would require enough energy to overcome the expansion force of the big bang, which might be to say "everything".
No, it can't - not will it ever be. Time doesn't physically exist so it is not possible to manipulate it.
@MartinSaintXXL even as a construct, idea, or perception, time exists. It may exist as an effect, but that still counts as existence. Get over it. Simply to deny something exists does not make it so.

Time doesn’t exist, it’s a measurement of movement.
If one person was born at sea level and the other on a mountain, at the end of their life they aren’t living in different times - they are simply living in different perceptions.
Why does movement happen, why isn't everything static, stationary and fixed in place? Time is only change.

Like a baton race, if your target is moving, you have to catch up... the faster the object's moving the more distance the photon has to travel.

Time is pointless without consciousness, conscious is what creates time other than that there is just motion through a void.
Time is useless without memory !! No memory NO TIME 😅😅😅
You may be conscious may aware but have memory then no TIME !!!!
And if we’re conscious, that means it’s only a product of our perception

Además cabe señalar que la Primera Ley de Newton, en estricto rigor funciona de forma correcta exclusivamente en los 5 puntos Lagrange, como también en orbitas geoestacionarias alrededor del planeta Tierra.
Consciousness transcends time
All we have is 3d space and movement (aka vibration) of an object within. Aether/space/vacuum is composed of particles vibrating at speeds higher than light, it conducts energy (thoughts, emotions, radiation, heat, etc.).
I ascribe my thinking on this matter to a quote made by Thorton Wilder. I paraphrase here.
"Some think that Time is a river. Rather it is a vast landscape, and it is the Eye of the beholder that moves across it. "
Just some thoughts.
John~
“Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration.”
“That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively-there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.”
“Here’s Tom with the weather.”
What are your sources? Thanks.
Until you reach the Milky Way's time standard or "Mikey's Time."
•Our sun's time bubble: "Terran Time" we know and have measured.
Always applies when you're in T.I....) ;-P
A minute is a minute in all. It's the rate/flow I'm talking about. Heck, rivers of time flowing differently might explain dark energy and dark matter. Its the differences in time could explain dark energy repels and dark matter attracts. Fun to think about. Anyway, the Milky Way's, "True Interstellar Time Standard," will be known as, "Mikey's Time."
Pass it on, please and thank you.
I like it, might take a few tits to catch on though.
It take a hell of a lot of gravity to have a measurable effect on time, Voyager has been essentially gravity free for 99% if it's mission
As one who has made some regretful choices, the idea of pre-determinism is still cold comfort.
Clock manufacturers most affected
Time is the continual fall of temperatures as the Banach-Tarski Paradox produces a stream of expanding, cooling universes.
🎶Tiiiiiiiiiiime is one my side.... YES IT IS!!🎶
Fallen is a good movie.
But is the clock of the universe constant? If the clock has been speeding up it would cause the red shift, making our distance calculations inaccurate.
Excellent vid…….even the AI wasn’t too obvious. Just subbed. Great subject matter. Thanks
Energy = Mass = Inertia = Time 🌌♾️
Newton actually said he had to assume these things were invariable for the purpose of performing his calculations, he realised they may not be constants.
Time may exist in multiverses , each decision we make channels us to different universes reality with time present in each .
I've been saying this for years! I dont understand how something that is just a measurement is so key to the answers of the universe?!
"Freedom is an illusion" sounds like something that one of those Project Paperclip scientists that you guys took on board after the war would have said.
Gives new meaning to “I don’t have time”
Time has not been viewed as a constant since Einstein introduced General Relativity in 1915.
Your simulation is breaking down. Try turning it off and back on again.
@@SCUBAdfq hahaha love it!!
It means you are focusing on it so you notice it more when it happens.
Is time infinite divisable? Or is it like matter when you you stumble upon a tiniest particle on the rulerstick?
@@sanderschippers4737Given it seems emergent it'll be as quantized as the basic aspects of reality are that it emerges from.
@OmarIbrahim-n7o I'd argue that the definition of a "moment" is akin to the definition of a "location" and can be expressed in "coordinates".
What? Photons don't have a temperature
If we had no memory, we would not be aware if time
Time is the measurement and 'X axis' of entropy ???
Exactly, based on density, time can be stopped.
Your star maps 😎 👍 are awesome.
Space and Time sure are Relative.
The more Time I spend with Relatives, the more Space I need.
Time is a record. Without that, we couldn't make sense of anything.

I believe for the last 30 years based on my own life experiences , life was laid out for me. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me. I enjoyed this video!
Remember noetics suggesting thoughts have mass? That would be a heavy thought to think about; however, thoughts if equal to the energy, then can more similarly be considered as an exponentially greater force when amplified together as a multiplied focused intent? Unfortunately, that would equally be true if used negatively.
No, it's not an illusion, it is a demarcation between a beginning and an end.
When one thinks of the universe as merely one long day, then the hypothetical will fade.
As a friend used to say: What has that got to do with the price of fish?
I find it fascinating that our concept of the Grim Reaper is the Titan Cronos the God of linear time. This character is destined to be removed from the Earth and thrown in a pit. Could that time be now?
If you cannot understand whats going on inside our heads, we cannot just easily trust what is outside it! It is like a never ending wild goose chase.
Leibniz contemporary of Newton already has this alternate view of absolute vs relational same for space.
Here are some mathematical properties of Entropy:
Entropy is the exponent of a positive constant.
Quantum entanglement also suggests that SPACE doesn't exist either, the way we think.
Bible says 1 day is 1000 years for God... Proving time is not consistent... Einstein was known for reading the bible many times....
3:55 Two particles are not separated by a distance when they are entangled. Entangled particles are one system. not two systems. just one system. And there is no distance inside that quantum system between entangled quantum particles. it is one quantum system. not two. why is that so hard to understand.?
Space-time does not curve around an object,
it compresses into the gravity center of the object.
I’m taking time from my POV to log this comment, but I don’t travel at light speed. ☃️
Okay, time as we know it does not exist, but time as it really is has got to exist. If not, what does exist instead?
A side effect of our use of numbers
Time is a reflection of reality. It exists no more than people on a television screen exist in the television.
I understood all the words spoken, and at the same time, nothing at all.
according to other comments....
u ain't the only one!
I love falling asleep to good physics stuff this is meandering hoopla.
String.....Theory. AI had a stroke there 8:02
Thanks for making this video!
"Is time real, or is it just an illusion?"
In a perspective based reality system, would time not also be a perspective?
Or do you have a different perspective?
If that is the case, then the answer is "Yes"!
; )
What is stimulating the space expansion
