But when you are the greatest, no one will be able to accept a statement like this when the question arrives. Other players' parents have died during their careers - parents that were closer than Mikes dad was, and they came back by the end of the year. Truth is, Mike got so good at ball trying to prove his dad wrong. By then he was already the best - so when his dad passed, he lost a purpose. That's what people don't want to look at. Because it hurts the perception of "Michael Jordan IS Basketball" that was marketed to us way back before there were documentaries. And make no mistake, the lesser players that work hard will never be talked about because they never reach the same level of success because the talent isn't there. That's true in every facet of life. There will always be people working way harder to get where YOU are at

    I’ve experienced this as someone who is not even close to ever being a professional basketball player. You get in a tournament and people are cocky and it’s going to be easy. After 10 minutes those same cocky people are horrified because they realize they really have to play hard. That team goes from 20 players to 8 real quick. I can only imagine how horrible it is to look around at lazy teammates as a professional.

    My weight lifting buddies say I’m crazy when I say I would go to a last place team for 20 mil, vs a first place team for 10 million. Time to leave Childish thoughts behind and look at it as straight business. My kids can’t eat a championship ring, I can’t drop that championship ring on the desk to pay their tuition, I can’t trade that ring for a Lexus coupe. You don’t have to love the game or any other job to love what that profession brings you. Heck, I don’t love my job, but I damn sure love the lifestyle it’s allowed me to live. I’ll bet more NFL players hate their job even more than most NBA players hate theirs.

      There's nothing childish about finding something you love more than money. The NBA rookie minimum is nearly 1 million dollars. There are about 450 active players every year. All of them, including 2-ways and 10-days. make more money in a year than most people on the planet.
      But you can't buy an NBA championship. To some people, proving that you're the best through dedication and hard work is worth more than all the money in the world.

      @@tetsuya2ko Then why is he saying most of the players hate the game??? Aren’t they all dedicated and work hard too ??? Only people without money say money is not everything. There’s no way that a championship ring is worth more than all the money in the world. Such childish thinking. Fans love the game but players work at a job. I personally know a retired NBA player who readily admits that he didn’t like the job, but his home that we played poker at was spectacular. Nobody…..I repeat…..Nobody is playing professional sports for free. It’s disheartening for some fans to find out that their favorite player or players are only in it for the money.

      @Nathan Hollis KD gave up $10 mill to join the Warriors. LeBron, Bosh, and Wade took pay cuts to form the big 3 in Miami. Shaq left $30 million on the table to join the Lakers. These guys are already filthy rich, plenty of athletes have chosen the opportunity to win over a larger paycheck. Are they childish?

    • @nathanhollis7584
      @nathanhollis7584 Год назад

      @@tetsuya2ko as you said, they were already multi millionaires They rightfully so chose the money first and chased the ring later. Don’t get hung up on the contract amount. They knew endorsements and shoe contracts would make up the balance. They really didn’t leave anything on the table to chase the ring. And personally, I think anyone who leaves that type of money on the table is foolish and childish. I’m business over fan-ship. Others are championship or bust. It’s ok for us to have different thoughts on the matter.

    Why should all NBA players love the game? Owners treat it like a business, if you're not a star player you can get traded at anytime, owners majority of time if you're not a star wont pay you what you're worth,

    That's in life, though. I found that out when I was working at a call center. There are people who just want to pay bills and don't care about bonuses and incentives. When you're good at something and you take it seriously, you have the potential to create a change and lay a foundation. People don't get it.
