Kyrie Irving says he doesn’t Play basketball or watch basketball outside of the nba sometimes you can see that he doesn’t love the game, even tho he’s just so talented and naturally gifted, Ben simmions you can see that he doesn’t love the game. But players like Lebron, Giannis, Russ, Demar, Paul George, even Pat Bev you can tell they actually love the game of basketball cause of the chip they put themselves through. And I feel like the nba not penalizing players on certain shit just further ingrave that players don’t love ball like they claim they do. For example Ja morant who’s about to get damn near 200m, I feel like yeah he loved basketball until he become a superstar and got money now he wants to act up and do all this stupid shit, and It’s like If you really love basketball and understood that you can get kicked out the nba if you keep it up then you would know to stop
Not gonna lie, I feel like Kyrie's skills are so good he can't not love bball. He might like other stuff as well, but as a like 6"2 guy with all them skills, you cant not love bball. Kyrie looks like the type of dude who would dribble the ball all day home to school, trying something new everytime
Kyrie definitely loves the game. I think he was saying it isn’t the end all be all to him though. But he definitely loves the game, he thinks of it as an art which it is. He’s a big student of the game and has studied the greats and shown a lot of respect to former and current players and even watches the WNBA and stuff.
This is very interesting because in essence what it says is that no matter what level you are there is always an upper end, a middle and a lower end of performance. Your performance just shifts with the population. So just like a McDonald's has a super star kiosk worker and some have an average kiosk worker etc.
As much as the NBA and the media like to make it all seem like hard work and loving the game will get you to the NBA, the truth they don't tell kids is that if you don't have talent and size you're not going regardless of "love of the game" and "hard work beats talent". The most successful have love and competitiveness but plenty are probably still in the league on talent alone.
Great content. But if you are wearing headphones, you can hear them touching the mic all the time. Would be good to give them something else to hold so they stop doing that. Thanks
I couldn’t imagine making it there and not having that extra drive to work and get after it at that level cause that’s crazy to even get to college let alone NBA
I agree. Honestly I don't care for basketball like I used to. For me it's just different. I blame the media who hype these kids up. Good for business and it goes to their head. Then you got Matt Bradley better than most. But the media chooses the narrative. Will he make the association. That's the question.
It's true & you can tell who those players are by watching them play. Regardless of their God-given talent, fans respect seeing a a player get as much as they can out of their gifts. Players used to realize that their $ comes directly from fans in the community (not from owners, even though they technically write the check). So players worked hard to do right by those fans. Michael Jordan when asked why he played hard, "it might be a young fans 1st time seeing me play, so I want to show them what I'm about." Effort was part of the responsibility that came with getting a dream job. However, if pride & effort cease to exist in this younger 'next gen' of players, then they risk the entire guaranteed pay for the NBA. Owners will not continue to guarantee salaries if this trend of young max players not caring continues. Injuries happen, slumps happen, losses happen. As a fan, we can live with it. But don't ask us to accept apathy. You wouldn't accept apathy from the guy who cooks your food to the mechanic who fixes your breaks to the surgeon who repairs your knee. Stakes are different in NBA, but the principal is not.
This is what's different about today's game vs. how it was in the nineties. Players today get paid so much money that the game becomes secondary. They become infatuated with living the LIFESTYLE that comes along with being a professional basketball player rather than being a professional basketball. Mansions and fancy cars and buying out the club has become way more appealing than leaving it all out on the hardwood. Meanwhile players back in the nineties didn't have all that. Sure they were making good money but it wasn't obscene like today. All they had was the game. If they lose they didn't have a private plane to take to their villa in Tuscany. They had a nice Range Rover and a fully paid-off house but their source of happiness was playing basketball. If they lost it hurt. And winning meant so much more to them
Yo P I've been thinking that as well who is going to pay 200m for a guy who doesn't treat it like a job, I have my targets at work and work hard for 100k, the bosses in the NBA are soft as hell.
I can imagine. I played tennis for a long time, and hit a level where I just didn’t like it anymore. I can imagine the pro levels can be a physical and mental grind.
I hope PG understands how big a deal it was to see him come back to this level. DeMar didn't just choose him because he's sitting there, PG has just as much drive as Bird, MJ, LeBron, Steph etc... He may never win a ring, and will still be an example of how to approach the game.

You have no idea what you are talking about
stfu don’t ever diss Kyrie
Paul is the real deal. I enjoy watching him cook opponents. Definitely, one of the best to ever play the game!!!
This is very interesting because in essence what it says is that no matter what level you are there is always an upper end, a middle and a lower end of performance. Your performance just shifts with the population. So just like a McDonald's has a super star kiosk worker and some have an average kiosk worker etc.
Dope podcast with great guest...We need Lance as a guest soon!
PG should’ve teamed up with DeMar instead of Kawhi
@@cortezttd6225 yep, kawhi is better but ye
I love DeMar as a person but he never won a big game in the playoffs. He would have been a better fit than Westbrook though :)
Remember, the Spurs settled for Demar in place of Kawhi.
1:03 deebo takin shots at... zion three months in the future 😂😂😂
Lol at the Ben Simmons shade in the first 2 min
Man the new Carl Johnson graphics is insane!
this thumbnail with the closeups got me crying lmao
As much as the NBA and the media like to make it all seem like hard work and loving the game will get you to the NBA, the truth they don't tell kids is that if you don't have talent and size you're not going regardless of "love of the game" and "hard work beats talent". The most successful have love and competitiveness but plenty are probably still in the league on talent alone.
Thank you❤ for this talk
PG just laughed it off when dude brought up Lamelo💀💀💀
demar i say it
demar i love u
Bro
deless i like it- drake
Loved this insight
Great content. But if you are wearing headphones, you can hear them touching the mic all the time. Would be good to give them something else to hold so they stop doing that. Thanks
These some young OGs man Time is an illusion
Love DeRozan. He is one player I truly admire. Like Jimmy Butler he just works his ass off to be best at his job.
When he brought up Melo and PG was like “yeah aight” 😂😂
Probably the best basketball podcast out right now
Thank you PG! Appreciate you!
Speaking of that olympics team, if Demar would've made that 360 poster I would've cried bro no 🧢
PG is cool but the other two hosts are mega corn balls
lol you have to be a corn ball to get viewers and likes and shit
You know them personally right?
DeRozan's quite insightful. He might not be the most articulate person, but I enjoy listening to him speak.
Real hoopers!! I'm happy Derozen played with my spurs, wish him the best!
Amazing podcast
I couldn’t imagine making it there and not having that extra drive to work and get after it at that level cause that’s crazy to even get to college let alone NBA
I'm glad Paul didn't cosign LaMelo wanting to be the best player in the League. Like Ben Simmons alot of these guys just wanna be famous
I agree. Honestly I don't care for basketball like I used to. For me it's just different. I blame the media who hype these kids up. Good for business and it goes to their head. Then you got Matt Bradley better than most. But the media chooses the narrative. Will he make the association. That's the question.
If you dont love the game; Stop expecting to be great at it.
Can you create a list annually of this team?
This an issue with football/soccer as well. Players now are getting paid for their potential rather what they currently performing
No matter what you say about the advertising, you can't deny the effort.
Keep it up content is beyond amazing guys
And winning meant so much more to them
Just shows how talented the league actually is
Yo P I've been thinking that as well who is going to pay 200m for a guy who doesn't treat it like a job, I have my targets at work and work hard for 100k, the bosses in the NBA are soft as hell.
I feel like DeMar gonna be around league for a min his game is smooth and that mid range oh my goodness 🔥
Any time PG suits up expect a light 30 piece. Gotta love it
It’s hard to believe you can be one of the best 450 in the world at something & not love it … Crazy
as a ja fan that contract shit is right at him you saw his documentary in the offseason up until the contract every episode was in the gym and i didn’t see much after that contract now look at him.
Demar need to be a guest more than once
Hi from Indy. PG always was and always will be my favorite player. It was too bad we had such haters like Dan Dakich and JMV in our local media hating on him, one of them is fired for Brittney Griner comments so go figure. He was saying she should’ve been left in Russia, that’s the type of media we have here unfortunately.
I love dis podcast
Ben simmons name pop up right away in your head when they started naming shit they do besides practicing?💀💀
Demar needs a podcast FRRRR
Podcast-P got that podcast game! 😅
Maybe I'm biased as a Magic fan, but it really seems like every member of the Magic roster really loves the game and wants to put in the work
Anthony Day to day davis be on that list
THE CORD ON DEROZAN'S MIC IS BOTHERING ME. WRAP IT AROUND THE STAND A FEW MORE TIMES SO ITS NOT DANGLING PLEASE
