James Cameron directed Aliens and Terminator 2. That's why you're picking up similarities. He also took the design of the robotic cranes for Avatar. He wrote the movie back in this era. He waited until we had the technology to make the Avatar movies. Smart man.

Finally, if you love the characters of Newt, Hicks and even Ripley, avoid watching Alien 3 at all cost. Its the most despicable movie in the whole franchise, ignoring the AVP movies of course.
While Alien is the haunted house at the carnival and Aliens is the rollercoaster, then Alien 3 is the stomach virus from all of the bad food

@@danielpeckham5520 I see no reason to ignore the fact that, if the reviewer loves the characters in the second film, you should tell them that watching “Alien 3” will upset them. I hated that film. I wish someone had warned me in advance. I would have saved my time and money avoiding going to see it.

If you haven't already, watch the movie 'Life' from 2017. Ryan Reynolds is in it too. It's pretty good and is a mix between Alien and The Blob. As a matter of fact, if you haven't watched 'The Blob' from 1988, that's a serious recommendation as well especially if you're into those 80s real effects which this one has and some awesome ones at that.

Ash did not reprogram Mother, Ash and Mother are following the same orders from the company. The ship was sent there to pick up an alien and bring it home, though the crew didn't know it.
Ripley actually fails at stopping the self-destruct not because she was too late but because she does it wrong. She tried to turn it off by doing what she did to activate it in reverse order but the instructions actually say to do things differently.
The alien being on the shuttle actually makes sense, the whole ship had alarms going crazy and steam blasting everywhere, the shuttle was the only place that was quiet and calm so it went there to rest.
I watched the first Alien movie on accident as a child. I woke up reaaaaaally early, put the DVD in and at some point just ran to my mum because I was too scared.

When Ash prevents the crew from killing the chest buster, we know why in hindsight -- he's following orders. However, at the time, he could argue that the risk of acid spillage would be too high for a knife attack.

Alien wouldve disappeared like Leviathan if it wasnt for Aliens... and Aliens wouldnt exist without Alien. But as far as im concerned, Aliens is the greatest sci-fi film ever made.
To me, Alien is the haunted house. It's great. It's fun, shocking and atmospheric. But once youve gone through the haunted house, you know whats coming around every corner. The experience eventually becomes stale.
Aliens is the rollercoaster and like all great rollercoaster, you just want to ride it again and again.
I don't agree. Alien has inspired a lot more films than Aliens. Almost in every modern Sci-Fi/Horror/Action movie I see elements from Alien. No wonder it has become the 3rd most imitated movie in history
@@LukeLovesRose No, I’m a huge Aliens fan too, but Alien was a huge film and very well received and remembered. Aliens just took the franchise to another level and opened it up beyond the horror genre.

I actually didn’t like the first Alien that much when I first saw it (I think The Thing, a movie that’s been compared to it over the years, is way better) but I gained a new appreciation for it after watching your reaction to it 2 years ago.
