A lot of shocking and disgusting scenes in this one! 🤢🤮 Let us know what you love or hate about this movie in the comments! Join our growing community! ▶ discord.gg/HQFtGkCf37
I know you guys are fans of how the final crossbreed alien looked, but I was not a fan. I didn't think that it looked intimidating enough. I honestly think that one of the seven clones that failed look more intimidating than the creature that we had gotten at the end of the movie. Don't know if you remember, but it was the number that didn't have eyes, and looked more like the xenomorph but with human skin. And its teeth were gritted. I agree, there were a lot of good scenes in the movie which is one of the reasons why I consider it epic as far as the quadrilogy is concerned as a whole. But ultimately I think there was a little bit too much comedy relief, as well as showing too much of the Xenomorph creature. Ultimately I think the story was pretty good as far as Ripley fans are concerned . But the dialogue was a little bit too campy for me at moments. I loved how they should Ripley somewhat recognizing the new character in the picture that was presented before her earlier in the film. Unfortunately that wasn't part of the theatrical release. I do agree that the captain of the ship should have lived a little bit longer, especially with that hardcore voice of his lol. He was definitely a character. And if you are a fan of his character in this movie, I highly recommend you check out the movie The Crow. He plays the main villain.
Honestly, even though this movie was narratively terrible, it was so weird and cheesy that I enjoyed it back when it came out, which is a lot more than I can say for Alien Covenant.
Well I'm glad that you guys made it this far, and I respect what you say about the movie and your opinions of it. I had a lot of good points and I had a lot of really negative points. I was not a fan of the cloning of Ripley what are the ability to get the Queen alien clone as well. They are two different creatures how in the hell did they manage to get alien DNA and make it stay and grow. An Alien 3 the doctor took blood from Ripley as part of his normal examinations and put it on cold freeze that's how they managed to get the blood for this over 200 years old. And then just the general mixing of the species I could understand mixing of the species with Ripley having alien DNA in her mixed up but not the other way around. There's just no excuse for an alien queen to be there at all. But that is science fiction, the whole extra clones number 1 through 7 was like a shout out to HR Giger's wonderful work with the very first alien. And all his concept art. The acting was great the acting was the best part of the movie honestly, the special effects were a bit sloppy as far as the creature creation way to slimy after they've been around awhile they should have dried up a little and the last saying about the newborn the better The setting in the lighting was all actually pretty good except for maybe some of the underwater scenes they did the kind of a rough job with the underwater aliens when they attacked the party when they're trying to go up the ladder, the acid spitting was just way too rough and it's artwork was just off. The story was good enough for Dark Horse Comics, but I think it was a piss-poor story for 20 Century Fox, it was a money grab. You guys keep talking about gravel voice Michael Wincott the captain of the Betty, and all I can think of is his voiceover work for Halo 2 as the Prophet of Truth, I don't know if you did the Prophet of Truth in Halo 3 as well or not but I can tell you that Ron Perlman did the voice of Admiral Hood in Halo 3. And Brad Dourif has done so many science fiction roles it just ain't funny, I always loved his work but his voice over work you might not have remembered was as Chucky in Child's Play . Your favorite boy Christy went on to play in CSI Miami I believe, where I think he lost his job due to an addiction problem, which is too bad hopefully he got back on the horse and send something better with his life I haven't seen him in a long time though. Winona Ryder she's all over the place as well, a fine actress common the most recent place I know her from is from Stranger Things I think. Dan hedaya that was the military commander on the spaceship Starship lab whatever it was, he's been around for quite a while too. All I know is a good cast and they did the best they could with what they had to work with and direction they had and I still didn't like the movie as far as the franchise is. I'd be very happy with an Alien 5 movie opening up with Ripley screaming in bed and having flashbacks of this movie and Alien 3 as from a nightmare, waking up next to Hicks and Newt comes screaming into the room having the same nightmare as somebody has brought the aliens to Earth. Somebody could still make that storyline similar to the Aliens Dark Horse comic of 1988. I hope Alien Romulus is good spin-off and it has a heck of a better story than these last two and the two that you're about to see, Prometheus and Alien Covenant which are the new one and two of the series franchise, but they do not belong in the Sigourney Weaver Ripley Universe of aliens they have to be in their own multiverse. Like I said before I'll take anything aliens and I'll love it for some reason, but I also reserve the right to totally hate it as well. Well thanks for reviewing this and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it for what it was and have a very safe happy holidays to you and Merry Christmas!
I absolutely love this movie it's one of my favorite in the franchise. I've watched it hundreds of times . It was great to finally see the company with the aliens. But this extended cut has some really bad dialogue. I would recommend watching the Normal version of it For a fresh opinion . Also the video game for playstation one was pretty good.
Unpopular opinion: This movie is fun to watch. I know is campy and gross, but has too many creative shots and ideas that when I watched it the first time I had a blast.
This movie and Alien 3 have many great and creative scenes. To be honest, xenomorphs looked the smartest and maybe even the coolest in this film. I didn't have problems with Ripley's character being ruined cause it wasn't even real Ripley to begin with. It was Ripley 8.
When a host has a Xenomorph inside, their DNA Mix. Those were Ripley's failed Clones due to their DNA not splitting well during the cloning process. No. 8 was successful because they could take the queen out, and yet the DNA was not completely divided. That's why The Queen had a Hybrid baby and Repley has acid for blood.
Their DNA don't mix, the xenomorph gets some of its DNA from the host. The reason why clone Ripley has xenomorph attributes is because they cloned her and the alien queen from blood samples. Which means they had to separate Ripleys DNA from the xenomorph queens in order to get to the point where they could get a viable body.
i dont care what people think,i love this movie, newborn alien is just the creepiest and nastiest alien i have ever seen. i dont get the hate that this movie gets
Yeah it’s really weird that people hate this movie. It’s almost like they are just brainwashed into thinking it’s bad movie because they heard a lot of people say it was bad. To me it’s a pretty interesting and entertaining movie.
Third fun fact: the only reason Sigourney Weaver signed on for the movie was because she liked that they did a completely different take on the character of Ripley. And she liked playing with the fact that having both alien DNA and human DNA in her, it's hard to know where her allegiance lies. In fact, she's also figuring that out along the way as she learns and grows. And they wanted her to have the weird sense of humor, almost having autistic tendencies. And that's why I love my favorite line of hers where she says," I'm finding a lot of things funny… But I don't think they are." It's like she understands the gravity of the situation, and she's somehow been able to find the humor in the irony. She just develops a sick sense of humor about it because what else are we going to do? I also agreed that her line about dreaming of aliens waking up to the reality being worse was awesome, but it unfortunately did not make the theatrical release. I think you guys should react to the making of the movie. It's on RUclips.
@@miller-joel I completely disagree with you. If it had been for the money, she would’ve done another sequel years before that. She cared way too much about the character Ripley to just do it for the money. You are entitled to your opinion. But I just don’t believe that at all. Especially after watching interviews, she had no interest in bringing back the original Ripley. And of course she was a coproducer, as she should be. She put a lot into that character in the series over the years. She deserved the payday and the recognition as a co-producer, because she really worked with them on the character.
@@dancingwheels8494Yeah, she "cared" so much about the character, she mangled it beyond recognition. This was not Ripley. This was a twisted parody. Specially compared to Ripley in Aliens. THAT was a great character. Her "work" as a producer meant that if she wanted Ripley to have sex with an alien, Ripley was going to have sex with an alien. Gee, what a great contribution. If you're just watching these movies and then put them back on the shelf, you are not going to care. But if you're a fan who cares about the story and the characters, this is garbage.
@@miller-joel I am a true fan. And I think you're confused. In this movie, Sigourney Weaver did not mangle the character of Ripley because her character in this movie IS NOT supposed to be Ripley. Sigourney Weaver wanted Ripley's character arc to end, which is why she made the choice to have her character killed off in the third movie. Anyone who cares about the original Ripley would not want to see her pop up in another movie, because the original Ripley deserved to have an ending when she wasn't always waking up to new trauma.
@@dancingwheels8494 No, you don't get it. What does everyone call the clone? RIPLEY. Sigourney is a great actress, but not a good writer or producer. She hated "guns," yet Aliens is the most successful of the Alien movies. What she did in 3 and 4 was awful and did not go well with the fans. If she didn't want Ripley to "pop up in another movie," all she had to do was ... stop making Alien movies. That's not what she did, was it? She made two of the worst ones. The ending in Aliens was fine. It didn't need anything else. But they couldn't leave it alone. They had to F it up.
It's likely Clemens (Charles Dance) took blood samples from Ripley when they rescued her from the downed EEV to make sure she had no communicable diseases; they just did it off screen. Some of those samples would've still been in the medical bay's refrigerator assuming that happened. If not, that's my headcanon.
The Newborn's death is by far the most gruesome death scene in the Alien series. This death scene was originally intended for General Perez when someone shoots one of the aliens and it's acid blood makes a small hole in the ship's hull but they chose to have it for the Newborn instead. In fact, in the first Alien movie, Lambert was gonna be killed by being sucked out of a tiny hole like in this movie but it was deemed too costly and too impractical to do.
The cries of suffering when its life was literally being pulled out when all it wanted was to be be loved, firstborn into a world of strange, evil creatures. 😞😞
Just watch them all. Honestly, a lot of the hate is overblown. Yeah, not every movie in this franchise are at the same level of good, but none are what I would consider bad movies. Even the Alien vs Predator movies that suffers a bit visually are still fun action flicks. I think that some people just hate that the franchise experimented and played around with different genres and vibes. And that they introduced higher concepts later in the films, ie Prometheus. I liked that the franchise kept things fresh and thought of ways to expand the lore and universe of this story. I'm interested to know what you boys think - and you're already half-way through, anyway. -Alien (1979)- -Aliens (1987)- -Alien 3 (1992)- -Alien Resurrection (1997)- Alien vs. Predator (2004) Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007) Prometheus (2012) Alien: Covenant (2017)
However... From and including Prometheus is a re-write of the story... and not a welcomed one. And before anyone debates it... Disney (who now own the franchise) have publicly come out and said "Ridley's Pro+Con are no longer canon and are to be considered "What if's". ALL authorised films and TV series are to completely ret-con out and ignore his later work"... and i completely agree with them. Ridley came out publicly said that he wanted to completely re-write the lore when he made Prometheus. The creator of the franchise got too greedy and protective. They are good films... terrible Alien films.
@@babalonkie Agreed. The retconning of the space jockey alone is one of the biggest travesties in cinematic history. To take what was maybe THE single most enigmatic, mysterious shot of any film...and completely destroy it by saying 'oh it was just a spacesuit - what was in it? just some bodybuilder painted white'...heartbreaking. It's up there with Matrix Resurrections as an example of a director going back to their source material and openly repudiating it with a follow-up.
Alien - Clock Tower. Aliens - Resident Evil/BIOHAZARD (straight up, Mikami Shinji was VERY heavily inspired by it, so-much-so that first RE/REmake has entire scenes that copy/trace the "feel" and "looks" of it nearly identically, and has a female character named Rebecca that does the "thumb up" meme gesture all the time). Alien 3 - Riddick's Escape From Butcher's Bay. Alien Resurrection - Alien Resurrection The Game (where the game is actually vastly superior due to having a completely different feel and pacing, lmao).
Alien Resurrection feels like a movie made by David Cronenberg Also the photography of this movie is my favorite one, even tho my favorite movie is Alien 3 because of the magnificent soundtrack, but the atmospheric themes of Resurrection are really unnerving
I like this one more than the third one, might be because the action and lots of characters make me rooting for them and excited all the time. I also love Ripley 8 and Sigourney's acting! Playing the same character but not really original Ripley and she did it so well!
So besides Queen Ripley, we have Hellboy, Tuco of Breaking Bad, Chucky the killer doll (the creepy scientist with the ponytail) and Joyce Byers from Stranger Things (Call). Hell of a cast.
I don't know if you've talked about it in your review yet or if it's been mentioned in the comments, but I wanted to quickly let you all know if you did that Sigourney really made that shot with the basketball.
Yes, that is really true. On the DVD extras Jean-Pierre said he wanted to do it with CGI because of the number of takes he thought they would need, plus they didn't have the time. Sigourney begged him to at least give her a chance. She made the shot on camera first time and without practice. It was filmed exactly as it happened with no editing. Ron Perlman said they still almost lost the scene because after the "swish" everyone broke character and started yelling and high fiving. It's become part of ALIEN lore.
I really like this movie. Maybe it helps that I am French and I love Jean-Pierre Jeunet's movies, some of them being way weirder than this one like Delicatessen or City of the Lost Children.
I'm old enough to have seen every Alien movie at the theaters. I don't hate any of them but, the second one is near and dear to my heart. Good review, gentlemen!
I saw the 3rd and 4th one in theaters. The 2nd one i saw as soon as it came to video rented it first week cause i was too young to go see it in theaters without parents. But i did get my brothers friends to rent it for me lmao.
TRIVIA - You can see the genesis of "Firefly" in the crew of The Betty. The foot scene WAS in the theatrical cut. Colt 1911s around the time of the movie's release usually go for $600 - $700 for base models. The doctor with the funky ponytail was also "Chucky" from "Child's Play". The doctors said they brought her back based on blood samples taken before she dies from Fiorini-161.
Thanks for continuing the franchise guys!. Glad you got to form your own opinions instead of listening to people telling you not to watch and then skipping. Looking forward to seeing your reactions on prometheus and covenant!
This was the first alien movie I saw in the theater and I loved it. I think part of the reason I loved it was because I was not afraid. Now that I'm adult, I see that the reason why I loved it is why most people probably hate it. There were a lot of jokes throughout the movie end most of the crew survived. So there wasn't that element of danger like there usually was in the previous films. It was starting to look like Guardians of the Galaxy or something. But I still absolutely loved Sigourney Weaver's take on Ripleys clone. I love Winona Ryder, but her character annoyed me. And I thought the Alien baby was just gross. That underwater scene was epic! It's still holds up to this day! And I don't think they used much CGI if at all. As far as Sigourney Weaver's performances, this is my second favorite after Aliens.
For anyone who doesn't understand, these scientists cloned the dead Ripley - along with the alien queen inside her - and in the process Ripley #8 clone got mixed with traces of alien DNA (super-strength, acid for blood) and the alien queen-clone they removed from her got mixed with human & alien DNA in her/it. That's why the alien queen, with Ripley's DNA, mutated and grew a mammal uterus from which it birthed a half-human, half-xenomorph "newborn" that saw the part-alien Ripley clone as its mother.
but also in the 3rd movie was it not taking some part of whatever was the host? if it was adaptable like that, then trying to rez it, it might grab whatever to see what works It bounces back from an already perfect alien to an adaptable one so I dunno.
- Prometheus (2012), a prequel narrative that dove into some of the backstories of the events that took place in later Alien (1979), had explanation about the alien who owned the giant ship in movie Alien (1979) so yes still related. The movie was made by Ridley Scott who made Alien (1979). - Alien: Covenant (2017), Sequel of Prometheus, and also still prequel to Alien (1979). Also by Ridley Scott. The story picks up 11 years later and follows a colonization ship.
So happy you guys are continuing to watch this franchise! I really appreciate you guys reacting to more "controversial" stuff, and especially also discussing it afterwards. Yeah, everyone knows Alien and Aliens are masterpieces, but also there is barely any interesting discussion left. With movies like part 3 and 4 (and also the later ones by Scott) the water's not so clear, and I think it is far more interesting to see, what other people like and dislike about these movies. Thank you again! I personally really like Alien Resurrection. It was the first of the franchise I saw in theaters. I really love the visual style (except the design of the newborn in the end, I don't hate it as much as I did in the past, but still think it is sub par), and I like the themes in this movie, genetic manipulation/cloning, remember, that Dolly, the first cloned sheep, was born a year earlier), the discussion, what it means to be "human" (with Ripley having lost parts of her humanity, and Call being no natural human, but being "more human than humans"). In my opinion, It's a real sci-fi movie through and through. Also, I LOVE the underwater scene and the dialed up body horror. :) (The whole underwater set actually got really dangerous for the actors during filming...) Yes, there are flaws (and again a troubled production), but it's still a really interesting movie and far from the dumpster fire, many made it out to be. I don't know, if somebody already mentioned it, but a little fun fact: Sigourney Weaver actually hit the basket with her backward throw, which was only planned to be achieved in editing. :)
Homeboy in the middle said it perfectly. It was a fun movie. Out of all of the other films regarding Sigourney Weaver in Alien movies. Keep in mind that the writer of this movie is the director of the first two Avengers films. So I'd have to say that this movie had the most comedy relief in it. And the dude on the far left said it perfectly, I both love and hate this movie . Perfectly said
The director of this film was the french guy Jeunet, who is known for making gross films with weird characters in strange worlds. If you want more of that you could watch The City of Lost Children. It's a dystopic sci-fi with Ron Pearlman too. About a crazy scientist who steals children's dreams.
Honestly, I love all of the Alien movies. The creativity needed to come up with everything in all of the movies is astounding. I am curious to know if you will be watching the Predator series. If not, I can't recommend them enough.
The opening scene was part of the extended Alien Resurrection version. Theatrical version doesn't start off like that. The opening scene was unfinished but was used in the extended version on DVD for those who wanted to see extra footage.
I watched this on video tape when I was a kid in the 90s. I loved it I have some of their old action figures I said had their video game on PlayStation one. Now I got them all on d v d
Maybe it’s just me but liked 3 & 4 always. My advice please don’t listen to die hard fans of anything and take whatever they say with a grain of salt. And watch everything sci-fi
Another fun fact: Brad Douriff, the actor who portrays Dr. Gediman, is also the voice actor for Chucky and Ron Perlman, who portrays Johner also portrays Hellboy in the those films.
@@danielmillward9947 that’s literally my favorite role of Brad’s. His “that is a lie” line from The Two Towers might be my favorite line delivery in movie history lol
Another fun fact: there was a scene in Stranger Things where they walk into the Russian lab and see bunch of mini demagorgans, and it it was supposed to be a reference back to this movie where Ripley walked into the lab of failed clones.
I never really hated this film... then again i watched it as a kid, so you know, nostelgia goggles lol Now that I've seen Prometheus... I like this film even more.
Not sure if anyone's mentioned it yet didn't see if anyone had, but the interesting reason that Ripley is number 8, is that in the very first film there was seven passengers in her crew. And the 8th passenger was the Xenomorph. So it's a good throwback to the original. And actually in some countries the translated title of the film was called "The 8th Passenger is Death"; such as in my country Hungary. Which is what the original Premier title was when it came out in theaters. Bit of a long title, and kind of gives it away but it was the time and it was the place it worked better.
The sound of the egg hatching just adds more questions. How did it get there, the queen had ripped herself away from the egg sack? When did she have time to drop the egg? When the queen comes out of the elevator back on the planet you can see she has nothing in her hands/claws, whatever.
The line "I don't know - I'm a stranger here myself" is just great. Brilliant delivery, great line and a very interesdting performance from Weaver. This film has a whole bunch of fantastic moments among the weird tonal nuttiness.
I personally think that, while it lacks quality, Alien Resurrection still conveys many interesting concepts that I really like. It also has surprisingly amazing visuals.
Rewatching these with you made me reassess my views on 3&4, and appreciating how they really did let the story evolve while still being about Aliens rather than making the same film over and over again. And don’t feel too bad for Ripley… Weaver liked working on this with French director Jeunet.
i mean Ripley and Weaver are two very different people. Of course we make our characters suffer the most for the story and for the money. lol Every hero has to lose something then overcome it. A strength of some kind then the smarts to barely outplay whatever the big bad is of the time.
I agree with every feelings you guys had for this film. Hated the same things you hated, disgusted with the same things and angry at the same things, BUT, I had so much fun watching you guys squirm, cringe, almost throw up….never had so much fun being disgusted.
I love this movie. Ron Perlman is hilarious. Don’t get the hate. I remember when the dvd box set for all 4 with the extended editions came out I bought it on the day it dropped. Still have it. And even though Prometheus and covenant fell really short I will always go see an Alien movie fingers crossed for the new one
Sigourney actually made that over the head backwards bucket according to Ron Perlman. First attempt I believe. Check out his reaction again in the movie. That’s the real deal.
A lot to unpack on this movie, which I personally like. The director also co-directed a French film called City of Lost Children with Ron Perlman and Dominique Pinon (guy in wheelchair). Perlman spoke his lines in French without knowing the language, something he has done in several films in many languages. Perlman also lost it on set when Ripley tossed the basketball backwards and sank it, no special effects. Michael Wincott, the captain of the Betty, has been able to make a great living off both acting and using his voice in video games. Arguably the film is disconnected and hard to follow but the action is top notch and all the cast gave it their all.
Damm,I read the original script back in 1997 and I have to mention other parts.Their was a big action sequence in the ship with Ripley,Call and the mercenaries and it happens in part of the ship where the Marines grow crops to eat and they to have fight the Aliens through a crop field. The original climax ending, had Ripley and others fighting the Alien hyprid on Earth and Ripley kills the hyprid Alien by pushing it into a shredder and it gets torn into pieces and its somewhat similar to the Theatrical ending.
I was 11 when I watched Aliens. It was my favorite movie and so awesome and cool when I got to see this movie when I was 15, it was my favorite in the alien franchise! It is so unique in it reveals the Alien in new ways, it gives Ripley a chance to be her bad ass, self with alien enhancements, yet again, she is faced with trusting a robot, and of course, it has some of the best over-the-top aliens destroying humans, and lastly, it has a whole new type of alien the human alien hybrid, which is so freaking terrifying, beautiful, and sad! it’s a great movie and very entertaining❤🎉😊
Alien Resurrection is Awesome. Like someone said below, a lot of the hate is overblown, and it's important to make up one's own mind. A lot of people get affected by hearing it's "bad," and they do not want to go against that idea. No, it is not the original or Aliens. And it would just get depressing if they kept with the tone of Alien 3. Alien Resurrection is the FUN one. Each one of the original Alien Quadrilogy offers something special.
I had a lot of fun watching Alien Resurrection; I enjoyed Jean-Pierre Jeunet's wildly nutty, colorful, weirdly eccentric take on the Alien movies, albeit the most blood & guts violent of the Alien films. The scenes with Ripley in the mutant clone lab and the underwater chase were worth the price of admission alone, if you saw it on the big screen. In other words, I found Alien 4 a far more high-energy, stimulating movie than the depressing Alien 3.
I, for one, am so glad you're watching all of these movies - sure they get bagged but I really enjoy them all, even if they don't stand up to the first two =)
I like this movie. Yes it may have certain small things that weren’t so good, but It had enough interesting concepts and scenes to keep my attention. Ripley being a clone, being part xenomorph, the prisoners being so odd, tough, looking out for each other, the scientist being so weird and hateable, the baby human/ xenomorph, the android girl. Ripley was a very complexed character here. It gave Weaver a chance to showcase a wide range of emotion. You couldn’t tell if she was going to be good or bad, or a variation of both. You’re scared of her baby, but at the same time sad when he dies.
Love your reactions to the Alien franchise guys. Glad you are judging for yourselves. Keep them coming. If you are familiar with the Predator movies then perhaps Alien v Predator next? Cojo's quick shave of the mustache between intro and reaction was also pretty amazing 😂 👍
I love this movie. Better than 3. EDIT: Btw, the ass shot was in the theatrical. "Earth man, what a shithole." or some variation on that is something my wife and I quote to eachother regurly. lol
I like this one as well. Swimming aliens, awesome:) You guys have not seen The Crow with Brandon Lee? The voice guy in this one is the main bad guy in The Crow. Now that is a fantastic movie.
I'll just say that the "worst" alien movie is still better than some of the crap that is thrown nowadays in the cinemas. Also the intro is better tn the theatrical cut.
A lot of ppl really shit on this film but it’s really unique and creative. A lot of Alien franchise fans around my age really have a special place for this film because like myself, Resurrection was the first film I saw in the franchise (being born in 90). It’s a really goofy yet entertaining film with some good VFX and practical effects that go really unnoticed because the mid and late 90s aren’t particularly known for outstanding effects, especially considering coming right after Jurassic Park, T2 and The Abyss. Great reaction as usual. I’d recommend the Predator films next then the Alien v Predator films then the Alien prequels (Prometheus and Covenant).
Fun fact the actor who played the dr who got his head eaten by the new alien baby is the same dude who played wormtongue in the lord of the rings movies 😊
Also another fun fact: Sigourney Weaver really made that no look basketball shot. It's an almost funny moment bc Ron Perlman almost ruined it bc when they recorded the shot reon Perlman immediately cheered after it went in . 😅
I watched this movie as a kid when it came out on vhs iirc. The other alien movies were scary but this one messed me up. I rememeber being sad for the alien at the end cuz of the eyes. Then i was traumatized for a cpl weeks lol 😅. I was no more than 12 yrs old and my dad let me watch it with him lol
I look at it like this. No, its not a great movie, doesn't compare most of the others in the franchise, but am I glad I saw it? Yes. There's specific scenes that just very cool and worth seeing at least once. The ideas and concepts in this are creative an interesting. Fun interactions between the Betty Crew and Ripley 8. And that alien hybrid....abomination is truly the right word. I'm glad you all watched this, because I think for most fans of the franchise its worth seeing at least once for those moments and concepts.
Alien 3 and Resurrection get a bad rap because they aren't nearly as good as Alien and Aliens were, but if they were standalone movies or part of another franchise, they would be rated better. I remember when they were in talks for the sequel to Aliens, there was talk of a Xenomorph invasion (and assimilation) of Earth, but that was shelved due to cost. So a lot of fans were disappointed after getting a kickass sequel in Aliens, the series reverted to horror again and dropped the action/sci-fi element. FWIW, that storyline was from a comic book called Alien: Earth Hive (or something like that), and there are a series of videos here on the comic series on RUclips by @AlienTheory.
I actually don’t mind this movie, though i can see why fans hate it. It’s gets a bit weird and wacky, it’s very much in line with the style of films this director makes, it’s very French. The film did well in France.
Thoroughly enjoying your reaction videos to the Alien franchise!! I was 19 the year Alien came out in 1979 so I'm one of those who saw the series from the very beginning. Really looking forward to your reactions to Prometheus and Covenant!! I wish there was a director's cut of Prometheus. One is needed badly as a main character at the end loses a LOT of their dialogue. One can see it in the deleted scenes on the bluray however. I will link an excellent youtube channel on Prometheus once you guys have watched it. It's one of my faves of the series if not THE fave!! :)
I used to think of this movie to be just a combination of the first three movies without a unique character of its own but over time I realized that its basically a Sci-Fi/Horror take on the 1972-Disaster Film "The Poseidon Adventure". I also came to apprechiate the, say, "European" sensibility Director Jean-Pierre Jeunet brought to this flick through its visual style, stylistic camerawork, eccentric cast and weird sense of humor. Its far from being my favourite, but I like it. And the spin that Ripley in this movie is a hybrid of her and her nemesis is one hell of a spin. And Weaver's performance is amazing.
The original concept for the hyprid Alien was kick ass! Originally, the hybrid alien was all white and when it kiiled someone,it would suck the blood out of its victims and you would see the Alien viens filling up with blood.
A lot of shocking and disgusting scenes in this one! 🤢🤮

The acting was great the acting was the best part of the movie honestly, the special effects were a bit sloppy as far as the creature creation way to slimy after they've been around awhile they should have dried up a little and the last saying about the newborn the better
The setting in the lighting was all actually pretty good except for maybe some of the underwater scenes they did the kind of a rough job with the underwater aliens when they attacked the party when they're trying to go up the ladder, the acid spitting was just way too rough and it's artwork was just off.
Yeah the baby getting sucked out the window scarred me when I was younger . That shit was hard to watch
Unpopular opinion: This movie is fun to watch. I know is campy and gross, but has too many creative shots and ideas that when I watched it the first time I had a blast.
People always talk about the ending with the hybrid alien but the rest of it is pretty fun and the cast is great.
Ripley not just acid for blood but being strong, linked psychically to the xenomorph queen plus having much improved strength, endurance and agility.
The Alien quadrilogy are my favourite sci-fi films. I'm so glad you did them all..
Ripley is so bad ass!
i dont care what people think,i love this movie, newborn alien is just the creepiest and nastiest alien i have ever seen. i dont get the hate that this movie gets
Yeah it’s really weird that people hate this movie. It’s almost like they are just brainwashed into thinking it’s bad movie because they heard a lot of people say it was bad. To me it’s a pretty interesting and entertaining movie.
Its crap.
The Xenomorphs in this are so wet. I think with the four movies they all have a unique take.
i agree!
This movie had some interesting ideas but was horribly executed.
i love when reactors watch whatever they feel like it and give movies a chance, good for you guys👏👏👏👏💪
Oh, please. She did it for the money. She was also executive producer.
Ripley had a kid. Alien Isolation.
The cries of suffering when its life was literally being pulled out when all it wanted was to be be loved, firstborn into a world of strange, evil creatures. 😞😞
I think I was about ten when I first watched this on DVD. One of the only times I ever cried in the entire Quadrilogy.
-Alien (1979)-
-Aliens (1987)-
-Alien 3 (1992)-
-Alien Resurrection (1997)-
Alien vs. Predator (2004)
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
Prometheus (2012)
Alien: Covenant (2017)
I've always liked Resurrection. Sure it's a little different and a little "goofy" at times but I do like it.
No.
This had some values.
AvP: Requiem is utter garbage crap. Makers should be locked up tó somewhere...
Alien => Survival
Aliens => War
Alien 3 => Religion
Alien Resurrection => Science
Religion?
Absolutely. Best 4 word summary of the movie set.
Thought I'd posted this but:
Prometheus => Philosophy
Alien Covenant => What if stupid people went into space?
Alien - Clock Tower.
Aliens - Resident Evil/BIOHAZARD (straight up, Mikami Shinji was VERY heavily inspired by it, so-much-so that first RE/REmake has entire scenes that copy/trace the "feel" and "looks" of it nearly identically, and has a female character named Rebecca that does the "thumb up" meme gesture all the time).
Alien 3 - Riddick's Escape From Butcher's Bay.
Alien Resurrection - Alien Resurrection The Game (where the game is actually vastly superior due to having a completely different feel and pacing, lmao).
lol
Alien Resurrection feels like a movie made by David Cronenberg
Also the photography of this movie is my favorite one, even tho my favorite movie is Alien 3 because of the magnificent soundtrack, but the atmospheric themes of Resurrection are really unnerving
I like this one more than the third one, might be because the action and lots of characters make me rooting for them and excited all the time. I also love Ripley 8 and Sigourney's acting! Playing the same character but not really original Ripley and she did it so well!
exactly, she doesn't seem quite human but she is though, her acting is great...
So besides Queen Ripley, we have Hellboy, Tuco of Breaking Bad, Chucky the killer doll (the creepy scientist with the ponytail) and Joyce Byers from Stranger Things (Call). Hell of a cast.
I recognized the Ponytail as Grima Wormtongue, Lord of the rings
@@SupJax Yes, that's him. Dude likes his creepy roles.
@@SupJax This actor ALWAYS plays a creep. He plays them well, though.
City of Lost Children is so wonderful ❤
That's why the alien queen, with Ripley's DNA, mutated and grew a mammal uterus from which it birthed a half-human, half-xenomorph "newborn" that saw the part-alien Ripley clone as its mother.
but also in the 3rd movie was it not taking some part of whatever was the host?
if it was adaptable like that, then trying to rez it, it might grab whatever to see what works
It bounces back from an already perfect alien to an adaptable one so I dunno.
@@jayeisenhardt1337 Probably, I've always got the feeling that human and xenomorph DNA get a bit mixed when one is inside the other.
Perfectly said
Glad people are watching 3 & 4 despite what the vocal fanbase says...
I've always enjoyed 3 & 4
@@Pickendi I love the idea of Ripley having the Alien DNA - just wished they had explored it further either in this movie or a sequel.
'Hate' is a strong word. Ripley is a force of nature. An avatar.
The director of this film was the french guy Jeunet, who is known for making gross films with weird characters in strange worlds. If you want more of that you could watch The City of Lost Children. It's a dystopic sci-fi with Ron Pearlman too. About a crazy scientist who steals children's dreams.
Which begs the question why on earth fox hired a Frenchman too make an American classic
Honestly, I love all of the Alien movies. The creativity needed to come up with everything in all of the movies is astounding. I am curious to know if you will be watching the Predator series. If not, I can't recommend them enough.
We plan to at some point in the future. And then AvP
The opening scene was part of the extended Alien Resurrection version. Theatrical version doesn't start off like that. The opening scene was unfinished but was used in the extended version on DVD for those who wanted to see extra footage.
🐦⬛The guy with the gravel voice is Michael Wincott, who some might recognize as the bad guy in The Crow
And watch everything sci-fi
each alien movie with ripley is a different flavor. i love them all.
Another fun fact: Brad Douriff, the actor who portrays Dr. Gediman, is also the voice actor for Chucky and Ron Perlman, who portrays Johner also portrays Hellboy in the those films.
Grima wormtongue from LOTR also
@@danielmillward9947 that’s literally my favorite role of Brad’s.
You gotta see Predator, Predator 2 and then Alien vs Predator.
I never really hated this film... then again i watched it as a kid, so you know, nostelgia goggles lol
Now that I've seen Prometheus...
My theory is she still had a egg that she hadn’t started to push out yet and when on the drop ship she laid it and stuck it to the drop ship hull
Of course we make our characters suffer the most for the story and for the money. lol
Every hero has to lose something then overcome it. A strength of some kind then the smarts to barely outplay whatever the big bad is of the time.
I agree with every feelings you guys had for this film. Hated the same things you hated, disgusted with the same things and angry at the same things, BUT, I had so much fun watching you guys squirm, cringe, almost throw up….never had so much fun being disgusted.
watching how much fun you guys had watching this has made me reconsider revisiting this movie with a new perspective.
In the novelization, the one guy whose chestburster didn't jump out as fast was supposed to have a thyroid condition that slowed its growth
The doc in Alien 3 gave Ripley a full checkup including drawing blood. That’s where the company got Ripley’s blood.
The doctor with the pony tail did the voice of Chucky in all the old movies
Movie with its own style that I love, it seems to me that the criticism was unfair with this movie that was underrated
just fyi, cause you were wondering. alien covenant is the sequel to prometheus, so they are both prequels. it'll make sense when you watch them
I love this movie. Ron Perlman is hilarious. Don’t get the hate. I remember when the dvd box set for all 4 with the extended editions came out I bought it on the day it dropped. Still have it. And even though Prometheus and covenant fell really short I will always go see an Alien movie fingers crossed for the new one
i actually felt sorry for the alien at the end lol
I love this movie. Thank you for continuing to react to this franchise
The one with bishop and predators in a pyramid is crazy cool. Yall will love it.
Realistically, the pressure on that hole in the window would be about like putting your hand over the end of a vacuum cleaner.
I love that you're watching them all and forming your own opinions. Not many reaction channels have done that.
I really like this film.
That Newborn deserves a sequel, that thing is pure nightmare fuel.
Imagine what it would be like fully grown.
I, for one, am so glad you're watching all of these movies - sure they get bagged but I really enjoy them all, even if they don't stand up to the first two =)
I was huge fan of Jeunet & Caro so I ended up liking this more than most.
"Earth man, what a shithole." or some variation on that is something my wife and I quote to eachother regurly. lol

This is one of my favorite Alien movies
Earth….Not 200 years later from our time guys, but since the time Ellen Ripley died, the first movie takes place in
On my original watch of these 4 movies, this was actually my favorite of the four.
The crew of the Betty are the prototypes for the Serenity crew in Firefly.
My 3rd favorite Alien Movie. I don’t understand the hate it gets… 🤷🏻♀️
That scene where Ripley finds 1to 7 of her clones and the look on her face such a good actress
I like this one as well. Swimming aliens, awesome:) You guys have not seen The Crow with Brandon Lee? The voice guy in this one
is the main bad guy in The Crow.
Never consider a recommendation to NOT watch a particular movie. Such recommendations can be dismissed without further thought.
Love Resurrection, I don't understand the hate it's so damn entertaining.
the foot massage was absolutely in the theatrical release
Am I the only one who noticed that Cojo’s moustache goes missing when the movie starts? Lol
This one is so fun!
Fun characters. I love the Ripley resurrection and I love the writing.
i loved the 4 Alien movies, they were great.
Love Alien 4🙏🇸🇪🎞️🎬🎥📺📼📽️😃
It’s actually done in the style of a comic book. Winona’s character is a classic comic book character. It’s a live action comic book movie.
Yessss I'm so glad you watched this one
I'll go against the tide. I really enjoyed this movie
For those that don't know, Brad Dourif was the voice of Chucky in the childs play franchise
Resurrection fan here!!
