- Musical moments are moments of memories, reflection, as a retrospect of the past and anticipation of the future. These are moments that enrich our lives with music that we already know or get to know in the moment of listening. Every two weeks, starting on 15th May, a new Musical Moment will be released by the yellow label performed by prestigious artists like Daniel Barenboim, Yuja Wang, Nadine Sierra, Avi Avital, Albrecht Mayer or Hilary Hahn just to name a few.
The first 'Musical Moment' to be released is performed by none other than conductor, pianist and Chopin connoisseur Daniel Barenboim. Enjoy this first Musical Moment and watch Barenboim's interpretation of Frédéric Chopin's Etude Op. 25 No. 1, recorded in a currently empty Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin.

Have you seen our Moment Musical livestream series with Daniel Barenboim? What was your favourite piece he performed?
Mozart Sonatas! All time favourites. 😊
This one
I loved everything, from the Diabelli Variations to the Schumann Quintet! I loved how easy he made Chopin's Op 10 No 4 and Op 10 No 8 Études look!
Concerto número 1 de Chopin.
Are you producing Hi Res files or surround format?
I think it is the most perfect tempo for that piece I've ever heard. You can even listen up every note. He accelerates and reduces tempo so elegantly you can taste a dream.
The slower tempo made the music seem more "pure" somehow. Absolutely wonderful, what a magic rendition of one of Chopin's most poetic Etudes.
Absolutely agree
I just started practicing this one. Even if I COULD play it as fast as some, I wouldn't. This is perfect.
My Mother's favorite 💕. I play it as my encore theme every concert.
Not poetic but etude, listen to Pollini.
Totally agree.
Sir Daniel is just beautiful..!! The playing is so composed. Chopin comes alive with the sound from his fingers. ❤️
fantastic pianist and musician!
Sandarsh Nigam: excuse me, i believe that the sound is formed in the brain shortly before the fingers do what is meant and wished by the pianist. Mind and body of the pianist are framing _one_ unit to achieve what we are receiving with our senses. Thank you.
@@kcr7860 thanks captain obvious
@@kcr7860 excuse me, are you on a spectrum by any chance? Why need to state the obvious ldiot
He is amazing.
Chopin was my dear mother's favourite composer. This Etude is my favourite Chopin piece. I love the way Chopin gave interesting songs to both hands and Mr. Barenboim lets every single note of the melody soar above everything. The ending is so charming. Thank you for a balm to the soul in these challenging times - utterly sublime.
My Mother's too..she'd make me play it over and over for her!
My dear wife saw him perform in the '70s while in school.
The voicing, the color and the clarity of his sound take you in the deepest sense of the music of this piece
The best I've heard on RUclips. Thank you for sharing that with us.
Wow, thank you!
Good old Barenboim. A true master of the art. Enjoyed watching and listening to his recordings of Mozart's many piano sonatas recorded when Barenboim was way much younger.
I love that this guy plays it slower and with more passion. Like everyone else, I’ve heard it played faster by other pianists, but with no musicality. That’s THE problem with fast players in general. You see it in these competitions. They play it so fast that you’re wondering if they skipped notes……..Yet, they win because they’re conventional and play and express the music in the exact same way as everyone else. I’ve heard the argument that playing something fast is the best measure of skill and that anybody can play something slow. I’m sorry but those people who play fast, again, usually lack musicality. ANYBODY can play something fast if they put enough time into it. You’ll ruin the piece with a lack of expression but you can do it. It’s the one who can express music the best that gets remembered. The expression, in my opinion, is the hard part. Those of you who think I’m wrong need to take a look at these fast players who have technical skills but lack expression. If expressing music was easy, then more pianists would do it instead of just relying on speed.
u should listen Langlang play this piece.
As a classical pianist myself I fully agree. Sometimes treating a piece as though it's a competition to see who can play it the fastest doesn't really work, and doesn't produce the best result.
I so agree .. my wife teaches piano.. she quotes "Music is a language .. make it speak "
I don’t understand how this music isn’t played commonly in movies and still widely known in modern culture amongst non-piano enthusiasts. Brilliantly played, and this music really is unmatched to anything seen today.
i kind of actually prefer that classical music is not that popular
personally i think having already established musical pieces played in movies would not only take away attention from the pieces themselves but also cheapen them. new classical style compositions made for the movie itself is way better
over christmas last year i sat down at my family's piano and played Chopin's Prelude No.7 in A major, and my mom said "I know that song! It's from a cat food commercial!"
A bailarina dança nesta cena.
@@miguelisaurusbruh1158 I am not sure I understand what you are saying? I am fairly sure you do not wish to keep great music secret/unpopular. Perhaps I misunderstood?
Every note Barenboim played goes into my heart, how touching!
Daniel forever!!!
One of my fav by Chopin. I loved Barenboim's playing.
Me too
Oh my - the 2nd voices - wow! Loved it!
1:43 Wow, that phrasing was sublime! I felt Chopin's emotions in this piece being delicately manifested by the pianist! Bravo!
I respect you and love you. And, please remember to stay healthy.
Daniel Barenboim is an exceptional role model for many of us, and not 'just' as a musician. The word I associate with him is COURAGE. He promotes music as a universal language, and wields it in his heroic efforts to build bridges and make peace between cultures, nations, races, no matter how challanging his mission is. Thank you, Maestro!
Einfach grandios! Danke!
His sound deeply touched my soul.
It was very beautiful.
Absolutely masterful performance. Just heart achingly beautiful. That voicing! He pulls out so much nuance!
Beautifully articulated! Love how well he carries the melody in the midst of the arpeggios.
Glad you like it!
🇫🇷 Listening with my cat Fripon who loooves music 😻🙃
This is a marvelous performance by Maestro Barenboim. I always see Butterflies when listening to this magical piece. And, of course, this piece alone is one of the many reasons why the great Chopin is presented with fresh flowers, daily, at his tomb in Père-Lachaise. 💙
Barenboim's energy and enthusiasm never fails to amaze me. ♥️
Never thought Barenboim would produce such beautiful Chopin
Mr.Daniel ;the lover of the music that he perform.
Thank you v.m.😌
Completely free of any restraints of perceived “corectness” or showmanship. Just free to play the music😊
What a legend💥🗣️🦅💯💯 GOAT🐐
Barenboim's interpretation is beautiful, smooth and touching. Love it. Really can't imagine how the life will be without Chopin's music.
Note that he is playing a Barenboim grand piano, which he helped design.
What an absolute specimen. Unbelievable music and unbelievably beautifully played
it was so good that it was like hearing the piece I've heard many times properly for the first time
My favorite interpretation. So affectionate but also so tender.
Wonderful. Délicate. Thanks Maestro Barenboim.
I don't particularly like Mr. Bareboim's Chopin in general, but this piece he plays very special. He has his own color and decoration. Sometimes slower is worst but his slower tempo is the importance element of his interpretation of this piece. Thank you.
Totally agree..
Can't agree you more. I'm not a fan of Mr. Barenboim, but this rendition is enchanting.
Who are you? Everyone can write here and have the fantasy of being someone who can judge the master.
@@alexandros6433 Is having preferences not allowed?
@@alexandros6433 oh so I get you are a fan of every famous pianist's rendition of every composer, ever? That's lame.
fantastic , beautiful playing !
Such beauty, and fluidity!! So smooth
Amazing, Mr Barenboim. Compliments also to DG.
It seems that no piano are big enough to express all the emotions this pianist can express. Wonderful interpretation of such a beautiful song. Thank you
So beautiful! Thank you dear Daniel
So Clear and pristine! Wish I could play like that!
Shalom Daniel!

Amazing Job, Mr Barenboim!
Absolutely magnificent. Thank you Daniel. I keep playing over and over. I have the sheet music and will have a go.
Magnificent, the Maene Viñoly piano elicits all of the feelings of the artist's expression in exquisite detail and clarity! Very moving rendition! Had tears listening! Bravo!
Elegant and beautiful music. Chopin's piano music feeds me spiritually. Thank you for sharing this Deutsche Grammophon.
A truly ethereal performance. Amazing
So beatiful!!
When it comes to Chopin, Barenboim is unsurpassable.
Haven’t laughed like that in years. Thank you 🙏🏻
Absolutely beautiful playing, full of musical expression. You really get to appreciate the music and not be distracted by overdramatic bodily movements of current pianists.
I love your beautiful playing. I'd like to imitate your performance.☺️

Chopin makes me cry.

That was wonderful . I saw you conduct I. Perlman in Beethovens violin concerto and the whole thing was beyond works. Thanks for all the years of music.
